Absolutely well said. It's pathetic how WB have put out the same extras for the past 20 years, they couldn't give a toss about us fans as long as their making money. Would love to see a fresh new commentary as you said with behind the scenes footage, some new interviews (Jackie and Sammo would be great) there still alive and kicking 😅 would be great to see but I won't hold my breath as WB are very lazy.
We can live in hope, Tom. We have the Arrow & that does look like it's going to be an amazing set but Enter the Dragon 40th AGAIN!
Let's hope the FAT CATS a WB do something for us fans.

The dream for me would be if they could dig out all of that Henry Wong footage. He filmed hours of behind the scenes stuff which somehow is missing. I can't believe that they would throw that stuff away especially with Bruce dying before the release of ETD. Also I've heard many rumours that the BBC visited the set and interviewed the actors including Bruce. If that's true, it would be great to see that.

Yes the BBC interviews is deffo true, wether that stuff exists anymore is something else tho. Surely by now lots of this stuff people talk about would have surfaced already if it did. Money to be made and all that. Also In HK they always used to just bin loads of rushes / dailies back in the 70’s & 80’s, they didn’t give a monkeys if it had 10 takes of Bruce lee doing a kick or whatnot. It’s like when WB were editing ETD they didn’t expect him to die obvs so loads of stuff would have absolutely been erased or deleted I’m afraid off the face of the earth. I had a convo with paul heller producer once about this via a few mails back in 2006. He assured me BL saw a finished version of ETD including the score!! I used to own the full set of rushes to GOD, I bought it for only 15 quid in Hong Kong bruce lee store, I sold it 5 years later for like 150 quid on eBay ha, so am delighted arrow have remastered all of it and I’ll own it again. Wong or any footage would be good, least we got capri’s and B Logan found all that GOD stuff eh.
I totally agree with you on Enter The Dragon 50th Anniversary. And all the Extras. I saw Enter The Dragon in Chinatown in New York City, Years ago. And it was very different than the American release. I believe it was the Mandarin Version.

@@StripeyR it had a very different beginning and the scene with the Monk on the desk when the Monk Told Lee about his Sister. That scene was much longer than the American release.

I wish WB watch yr videos before they realease there new 4k discs of bruce lee ,,and you are right afther what there charging they should put new content in , i would like to see all the ETD outtakes, like the dvd 📀 i brought of GOD ,,,that has 6 hurs of outtakes 😊

the bruce lee golden harvest set put out by arrow video is gonna be maybe the definitive edition of the bruce lee sets arrow video has done awesome job with there releases
Stripey, the original voice (monk and Bruce) is included in the Criterion Greatest Hits box. It’s even listed as such.
The issue with it, is that it sounds like a telephone call.
There was a video on UA-cam with the original Bruce voice which named the source as the original Chinese vinyl soundtrack album. Though, why that was the only source (and he’s speaking English on a Chinese LP) is a puzzle.🤷♂️

You're right mate (gawd knows how I missed this) I just watched it on UA-cam, apparently it's taken from My Way of Kung Fu, but I don't remember it being on there.
I'm sure Bruce's voice could be cleaned up & enhanced. I'm gonna have to dig into my Greatest Hits set again.
Why would WB put out John Little's impersonation is beyond me.

I was in the third year at school when I went to the cinema in 1973 was a little nervous getting passed the ticket lady but I was tall for my age so got away with it! It was my first X film so was really excited, the theatre went dark & Wow!! Really blew me away one of the most amazing, exciting films l'd ever seen! Got back to school on Monday & l was a legend getting in to see an X film at my age!

I wish they’d include a MUSIC ONLY track, which was only on the 25th anniversary DVD, and has never been included on any releases since! Even the limited edition CD release of the expanded soundtrack didn’t have all the music.

Would be nice to see some new extras I agree. Regarding Bey Logan I'd be surprised if Warner Bros used him as he got Metooed a number of years back.
I just check that out Tom, Bey denied wrongdoing but, mud sticks + his association with Harvey Weinstein wouldn't help. Shame though, he knows loads about Martial Arts cinema.

I totally agree with you and your comments, maybe Warner Brothers will market a separate anniversary 4k version if they’re smart. You should also contact Shannon Lee to have them push for it, I would buy it as long as it’s reasonably priced

We need The Green Hornet tv show on 4k hd. Put that in as an extra rare add in .There you will get Bruce Lee's real voice in that in all 26 episodes.

Love this video. I'm agree with all your points. Love your passion. Consiering the fact that WB is allowing the regular Blu-ray print to be licensed, but are purposely keeping the 4K release for themselves, it NEEDS to be special. Creating new 4K trailers would be fairly simple, and not that costly to upgrade a few minutes of footage. They should make this THE ultimate release of a great film.

Guys!! What do want Warners to do?? If they don't have anything then they DONT HAVE ANYTHING!. I sat in Grauman's Chinese Theater in 1973 and saw a clean new print. I'm happy with that. Sure, I'd love to have the over 2 hours Bruce supposedly shot on his own in the hall of mirrors, but it's GONE! Just accept it and enjoy the New 4k version. Enough whining!!
Another great video. I've been saying the same. I suspect the trick is to get fans to fork out for the £300 WB set, or at least the 70s decade one. Universal did a similar thing so if I want the film Taxi Driver in 4K UHD, I'd have to buy a large collection set and have a load of other films I'm not interested in. Rotten trick.

Hi Stripey. I would like to see some thing like what Warners did for the original Bladerunner boxset. So you would get the theatrical cut, the Directors cut ( with alternative track, e.g, Bruces voice in the monk scene) and the work print ( That Bruce Lee saw at Warners). More of Henry Wongs " missing" film. Interviews with those who worked on ETD. Ahna Capris 8mm ( restored) film. A return to the surving locations in Hong Kong as well. A CD of the original extended soundtrack thrown in with a booklet, poster and lobby cards. Is that asking too much? I dont think so.
I haven't checked out the Bladerunner set, mate.
I love those extras you mentioned, Henry Wong has said they filmed more scenes (but they've never seen the light of day).

Great video mate I want all that what you want too and more they are definitely putting a 50th anniversary edition out on 4k so there has to be more than they listed on that boxset version with other films .I think that's all you get with that boxset and the 50th anniversary will be a 2 disc set with posters books and photos with new art work I hope anyway .

The only thing confirmed, Anthony, is the Warner box set. I think we're all hoping for a 50th stand-alone Enter the Dragon set, mate, but no news yet.
Yes, Bey Logan, he used to ne the editor of "Combat" and "Traditional Karate"! I remember back in the 1980s wanting to hear what Bruce Lee was actually saying in his own voice, even if he's speaking in Cantonese with subs. So a bit sad to hear that it's not possible on the early films.
My Ramble: Re Warner Brothers, I remember buying Joni Mitchel's "Blue" CD from a charity shop. At the time I used to to play CDs via my computer. The CD wouldn't play. Was it a pirate copy? No it was a kosher but WB had put a special code/software to stop them being played on a computer. 🤨 I sort of understand but really it sums up their attitude, it's like HP Printers having software to stop 3rd party ink cartridges (I'll never have a HP product again!)

brilliant video. It will be great to finally have Enter the Dragon in 4k hopefully they will do a great job with the transfer. I fear you re right about the extras though and there won't be any new content. Personally I would like to see all the deleted scenes fully restored and included. I'd also like a new super cut with my of the deleted scenes added in.

I’ve been told by someone who worked at Warner they do not have any BTS footage. Warner would not even fund the Angela Mao documentary he wanted to produce. Warner do not care at all. We’ve had the same extras since the 25th anniversary edition. Arrow did not include the ETD Blu-ray box artwork in recently released product picture. Hopefully it features Tony Stella’s artwork. And not the usual Warner artwork. I prefer the theatrical cut so good job I bought the criterion box set. One version on the soundtrack for the extended cut does include Bruce’s voice but it sounds like it did on the Japanese LP. I’m sure they could have cleaned it up. To much echo. But still sounds way better then John Little’s impersonation.
I really don't get WB at all, why wouldn't they invest to produce something special to mark the 50th? I guess they know, we'll buy it in 4K UHD, regardless.
I hope you're right regarding the Arrow set & it does feature art by Tony Stella, fingers crossed, that would be something cool.
I have since making this video found out, Bruce's voice is on one of the tracks, on the extended disc. (I still need to play this version), It's also on UA-cam, & it does sound echoey .

The theatrical cut of Enter the Dragon is my favourite Bruce Lee movie & i cannot understand why the shaolin monk scene was snuck in & made as a special edition, it slowed down the pacing of the movie & didn't add any substance, a case of less is more & the scene wasn't needed.
I'd like to see a newly remastered 4K of the theatrical print with a new documentary & audio commentaries, a second disc featuring the special edition & Hong Kong versions.

The theatrical cut is my fav too, Gary. The Shoulin Monk scene is great but does slow up the opening to the film. a great special feature tho. I'm really hoping WB do something special but I'm not getting my hopes up to much. To see it 4K UHD is still a plus (we'll have to wait and see I guess)

What I'd really love to see A.I. and today's ultra realistic computer graphics do is a version of Game of Death that's finally worthy of the movie Bruce had envisioned it to be. That would be a real worthy legacy...

With CGI they could fix continuity errors, like when Han wears a blue, then brown coat in the SAME scene!

Warner Brothers do not own the copyrights to the Ahna Capri film. That is why they cannot publish it. It is owned by a Japanese collector whom I know very well that bought it at auction many years ago. It was leaked out which is why it’s been on UA-cam for years. But to clean it up and officially release the entire film would require permission that would undoubtedly require Warners to pay. I think they did release just a very limited portion on the 40th version but I’d have to check.
With the money they made on ETD, Richard, you'd think they'd get in touch with your friend and offer whatever he wanted to use the footage (they made a nice profit on this film after all)

He didn't just made Enter the Dragon 🐉 , exporting his other movies would be GREAT. Talk about other martial arts he was involved with. Wing Chun is the only martial art the Chinese film industry is willing to talk about. Bruce Lee much ,much more than W.C. Jeet Kune Do isn't even express enough to reveal his growth. BOTH the film industry & The Wing Chun community could do much more than talk about him being Yip Man's famous student.
Fix the scene where Mr. Han is wearing his brown coat . But in a cutaway, he’s wearing the same coat but it’s blue .

Arrow are releasing a 5 film 4K set in summer, the only non 4K film in it is Enter the Dragon for some reason. Arrow do good extras though.

I, unfortunately, anticipate being disappointed with this upcoming 4K release of Enter The Dragon, but I won't be surprised, as you say WB has tended to put basically zero effort into their ETD releases. Like you I'd like a decent commentary track maybe with producer Andre Morgan & Bey Logan or Frank Djeng, the one with Paul Heller seemed uninformed (he didn't even know who Sammo Hung was when he recorded it, didn't even recognize Jackie Chan) & Michael Allin was just cut out of it (I suspect because not everything he remembered about Bruce was entirely complimentary), interviews with Bolo Yeung/Yueng Sze & Angela Mao would be cool, maybe an interview with Betty Chung, deleted scenes/alternate takes (which we know exist, we've seen some here on UA-cam in pretty poor quality), as you said a cleaned up full version of Ahna Capri's home movies from the set (she shot roughly 15 minutes, WB in their great wisdom saw fit to give us 3 minutes of it), an interview with Jackie Chan would be nice, an extensive image gallery would be cool, maybe a hardbound book like the ones Arrow & 88 Films include with some of their sets, WB could include the soundtrack on CD, an updated Making Of Enter The Dragon coffee table book to be simultaneously released would be excellent, there's just so much WB, Shannon, & the Lee Estate could do to make this 50th anniversary release truly special, but will they? I'm not going to get my hopes up.
I feel the same way, mate. New interviews with Bolo, Angela Mao, Betty Chung & Jackie would be awesome & the commentary track with Andre & Bey would be great. I love the book & soundtrack idea too. I'm sure if WB was going to put any real effort into this release, we would have heard about it by now. Such a shame.

Great video mate. Totally empathise with you. But Warners are lazy and are also leaving it a bit late to announce something. There recent Casablanca set was a worthwhile effort so im hoping for something similar. But at the end of the day, its the boutique labels that really care. Lets just wait and see as thats all we can do.
I agree Gav, smaller companies put so much more effort into releases. I didn't catch the Casablanca set (I'll have to look into it) so there may be a tiny ray of hope. fingers crossed I guess.

My prediction is that it will be released on 4k, including a steelbook edition, probably the same extras as the blu ray and maybe a re relase at the cinema? But you're right they should be going all out for this release.

There's going to be nothing extra on this. If you look at the WB UHD catalogue, it's the same crap over and over. They toss in an old Blu Ray with old extras and add the UHD disc.
The very best we can hope for is the theatrical print in 4K.
Warner's will be sitting on some footage, but they can't be arsed looking for it. The things you're asking for cost money, and WB knows they'll get sales without making much effort.
PS I wouldn't give Logan 5K, never mind 500K.
PPS I went for dinner with Andre Morgan last year. He compiled the budget. The movie cost $450K to make door to door.

I'd love to get some new commentaries. I think most of the current ones are a little boring. Other than that, I'd really like to just get a great-looking 4K disc. Maybe the original audio track (mono?). On a side note, Enter the Dragon was one of the very first DVDs I bought when I switched to that format. I remember being surprised how those red/orange robes at the beginning really popped off the screen in a way they just didn't on laserdisc and VHS.
New commentaries would be great .
The mono track on the Criterion set, sounds awesome, (how it was made). Also the theatrical cut of the film, is a must.
I know what you mean about the red & yellows on the monks, they never really stood out that much on VHS or Laserdisc.

I will break down and buy the 4k version if its quality has really been improved I will wait for reviews but yes all this time and no other footage other than previous released bits has been found, no real effort on that so how much effort is going into enhancing the movie footage to make it close to 4k quality?

Hey, always love your blogs on BL and your videos of him ans I love this one and if what I want to see in this 50th Anniversary is I like to see the scene where BL was showing the lady who was the owner of the dart BL say and she was supposed to be fighting too in the warehouse or when Lee ans that woman was talking more and this time it’s no camera it’s really them doing the scene and I would love to see that. Or even like u say of Lee fighting I know there was more and I just hope this 4k will show it ans if not it’s a disappointment of Lee fans and Warner Bros made Lee look bad. Again love more of your videos and keep showing and I will be watching.

Hi I would like to see golden harvest movie stars on what they think from yesterday and today about enter the dragon new linda and shannon interview show collectors from all over the world on what made them collect bruce Lee memorabilia and of course some collectable items. also I hope Warner bros does a good job on the cover of the box I'm not trying to be rude or anything but i really did not like the criterion box set art work kind of boring to me again just being honest I hope its better than that.
The collectors from all over the world is a really interesting idea, Larry. I like that. The Gian Galang artwork in the Criterion set was interesting (very Criterion) but I know what you mean. The new Arrow set artwork is more to my tastes

Warner Brothers has in a lot ways ,Always been bad to Bruce Lee , they cheated Him with the TV show Kung Fu , they originally was going to give Him the Part to that TV show not David Carradine , the Original Title of the Show was going to be called The Warrior , And from what I heard , a lot of the Story Ideals in that show , was Ideals that Originally was from Bruce Lee , and the way in 1973 edited scene out in Enter The Dragon with talking to head Temple Monk , that was wrong , what Bruce Lee had done in making Enter The Dragon , he should have done a Bill Murray , a Movie Company to make movie Bill Movie , but first Bill Murray wanted another Movie First , so they did , Bruce Lee should have had Warner Brothers First Finish Bruce Lee's Game Of First then Do Enter The Dragon , form what i have seen of Game Of Death , that may have been a better movie then Enter The Dragon , and that was a pretty good movie at that .
Hollywood did snub Bruce back in the late '60s but I guess if that didn't happen, he may not have gone to Hong Kong and made the three films prior to ETD.
Still shitty though.
Bruce couldn't do a Bill Murray, he didn't have the same clout, although, he stood his ground on the title, ETD was going to be called Blood & Steel.

@@StripeyR I don't know Bruce Lee was a pretty major star , Bill Murray isn't very well liked Bruce Lee had a lot People who liked him , and there were stories , that in Hong Kong , that the Shaw Brothers Movie Company was trying to get Bruce Lee to come and make movies for them , and Golden Harvest Raymond Chow was pretty up about that .

i don't think it's fair what warner's brother is doing because bruce lee doesn't deserve something like that it's his 50th anniversary that he's dead and what makes warner's brother a 100th anniversary that's a joke for what bruce lee did i think it's a cheek bruce lee didn't deserve that because for me that means Warner's brothers doesn't care that bruce lee has his 50th anniversary, that's a pity for me and for all fans the bruce lee fan is a pity.

Bruce’s voice with the monk was dubbed by Bruce Lee fan John Little. Maybe the original audio was lost or never done? I have heard Bruce say those lines in a phone interview.

If I was to take a guess, I would say, Bruce had just duck down to dodge a blow, and was on his way back up again.
He didn't do Monkey Kung Fu in any previous films, or in any other scene from ETD. I can't confirm this, but he also did a similar thing in Way of the Dragon in the fight with Chuck Norris.
That would be my guess.
Enter the dragon the original print is in utter SHIT condition sooooooo only so much can be done for it. Such a shame WB never looked after it.. ridic. The bey Logan ETD doc was broadcast on a shit UK channel called CNX. Lalo Schifrin is 103 years old mate prob doesn’t wanna chat about it ha. I want UHD Dolby vision HDR ETD like arrows release. When they do 8k versions people will get excited about that too, but they ain’t gonna look any better. The arrow / criterion sets are as good as these films are ever gonna look. I’m grateful myself, what do people expect, that ancient films are just gonna keep getting better looking when source is so shit. 8k - 20k won’t make any diff ha. Loads of extra material according to Bey Logan has been sat on by greedy private collectors and Raymond chow for years. I think most of what’s talked about is utter bullshit and rumours sadly. Like that HK colour chat show/ demo he did for typhoon relief, that would be amazing to see also. As long as the new ETD is a fab image like arrow I’m happy, hopefully they won’t balls you the colour like last time, dreadful over saturated image, truly awful. Not expecting any extras on it, nothing major anyways. If there is that’s a bonus. Am sure I heard BL real voice on a doc once saying the monk lines!!!!!!! But think it was recorded over a phone call or something. Also am 90% sure ETD was filmed with no sound dude I’m afraid, it was dubbed later on, same place/ building where BL passed out in the toilet one time!!

I'm afraid I think your right on the poor print, such a shame, such an iconic film. The Golden Harvest films look better in my humble opinion. I'm really excited to see the Arrow set.
I'm hoping the image in UHD looks amazing...fingers crossed. I remember watching it on TV years ago & the picture was stunning (if my memory serves me right).
