Alexi... Thank you for the decades of music you provided. Children of Bodom was truly a diamond in the metal community. You will be missed, but not forgotten.
It's amazing how you can really feel the evolution of Alexi's song writing style through his carrer. This song carries a very heavy influence from BloodDrunk and Halo od Blood in my opinion, and it's a completely natural progression from Hexed. Alexi had his unique style, and the elements he used in his song writing are truly remarkable. Such a legend. He'll be missed.
That was really cool, man! Thanks for dosing us with some Bodom! It has been wild without Alexi, but he DID throw down some jams that will endure. Let's not forget what a STORY that dude had. Really wild. Such a supportive guy to the music community, always encouraging.
Waltteri Väyrynen is a world class drummer. This is a worthy cover. Hope your carpal tunnel syndrome or whatever other drummer's nonsense you're going through improves shortly. I have a mild cubital tunnel-like symptoms that started showing up periodically once my drumming got decidedly harder playing Bodom songs after December 29. It's all related \m/
Appreciate you doing this. Huge bodom fan since the early 2000s . Alexi was a modern guitar legend and musical genius you said it perfectly. Their style was insane and unique and I'm glad I was able to see them live. You will be missed and remembered forever Alexi . RIP you bastard of bodom.
Incredible job my guy! And I hear you, going through the song/video the first couple of times was very emotional, knowing this is some of Alexis final work and despite being so frail its clear he had SO much more left in the tank. But at the same time, this song is an absolute banger, and his music is how he lives on forever. Im much more happy to have grown up on his music and experienced meeting him/seeing COB live 3 times than sad Alexi is gone. Rest in power, Alexi.
If I could go back(granted Finland's borders are still closed) I'd fly out to Finland just so I could see Alexi's last show. I can't wait to hear BAM's EP, but at the same time I'm going to hate to listen to it knowing it's most likely the last of Alexi's new/unreleased work I'll get to hear. He's always been my favorite guitarist ever since I was first introduced to them back in like....2002? I've never gotten tired of listening to their music over that time. Great cover!
Alexi passing kinda hit me man. Most of the time, some random person I've never met is kind of a sad but ehh that sucks. When I found out he passed is was like damn dude. Bodom is one of my favorite bands, one of the first ones I ever heard when I was getting into metal as a young lad. In you face was the first song I ever heard and has been my favorite song from them. I miss him, the insane guitar playing and the amazing music he gave us. RIP.
This is the first time I'm listening to this. Even though the video has been up for a couple of days, I couldn't bring myself to watch it for the same reason that you said. Thank you Sam for this playthrough. It made it a bit easier to listen.
Rest in piece Alexi, may you shread for the rest of time, wherever you are! 🖤🤘Brilliant cover Samus, it's really heart warming to feel the amount of passion and energy you have put into this cover. Keep up the amazing work and Sex! Love from down under 🤘🇦🇺
I can't watch the last shot of the music video. But it's been a trip reading how much Alexi influenced so many people over the years, I didn't really know. I've been learning this song on guitar for the past couple weeks and I'm actually used to hearing it slower now (because i can't *quite* play it at full speed yet) but I'd seen there was a drum cover for the song and was looking forward to watching it. Well, I finally did and it was more incredible than I expected. An absolute blast to watch!
Hey 66Samus, just wanted to say congrats on selling your house, and that I'm loving the channel and all the content. You're one of the reasons I'm getting back into drumming after not playing for over 10 years. Thanks for being an inspiration to me to get back into drums 😀🤘
Sounds like old school Bodom mixed with new school Bodom. From the group yelling, to the keyboards, the riffs, drumming, even Alexi's fucking vocals. You could definitely tell he wasn't doing well, and it broke my fucking heart seeing him like that. I almost cried watching the music video. May he rest in peace. He is the sole reason I became a metalhead.
I found your channel and got on a binge watching your videos, and my girlfriend keeps commenting on your hair and you are now her inspiration to grow hers out long lol
So clean, loved it. Thanks Samus! Also grats on selling the house, I am really happy you didn't end up like me (2 mortgages for 1.5 years back in 2008 and still trying to dig my way out!). Can't wait to see the new studio when you guys move!
Samus: Would you like to be a big bahee? Me: Is it possible to learn this power? In all seriousness though, RIP Alexi. I saw Bodom in 2005 and it was seriously one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.
My friend Bill Woods would have really enjoyed your channel. I’m sure that he is jamming out on a black Pearl drum set looking down. He would probably say dude needs to shave he looks like “Weird Al” Yankovic with the beard. Rock on 🤘
Amazing cover as always! I just noticed how your snare sounds awfully similar to Nick Barker's snare sample in Old man's child's "In defiance of existance" album, beautiful 👌🏼
God damn dude, this is an incredible cover! I love the new camera setup and am curious what you're using as I've been wanting to start streaming drums too! RIP Alexi.
It has been almost 2 decades sinse i listened to CoB, and I listened to only a few songs, this WASN’T one of them. But man! This is your best drumcover so far! Keep’em coming man! Sex from Sweden!
I mean., it’s as blast as you can get on a 16-bit cartridge.. the battle music was really cool because it changed depending how you were doing., and sounded awesome when you were losing 😅
If anyone here knows their shit, please answer my concern. I've got a set of DW double bass pedals, but they feel like you're trying to move massive boulders with your feet! Is this normal? Cause the original Tama single kick I got with my kit feels much much lighter and I can actually do heel toe technique on it.
I love this song and can't wait to hear the rest of the EP!
Ohhh Yurrrrrr

Stop flexing dem shards on us. You are ready for the next fusion I see xD
Hey @66Samus I hope you and your wife get the new house best luck to you both
You're amazing dude!!
Congrats man! Bigger playroom for the drum set means bigger , more drums yea??? hmmm???
I'm a bad influence. more space means more toys \m/
I've never seen anybody play a bodom song with more passion than Samus. You kill it man!! Ohh yurrrr \m/
Well said
Rest in peace Alexi!
My sympathies...
He was my friends neighbor
rip
Glad I seen children of bodom when I did they were great and lamb of god
Rest in power Alexi! Awesome job man, you killed it!! 🤘🤘
Rest In Peace, Alexi…
Samus, thank you for bringing your own passion to Alexi’s music. He truly is a legend, and so are you 🤘

Alexi was the first musician who truly inspired me. RIP
Rip alexi, the man who literally taught me what the word melody means by learning his songs
Holy fuck new camera setup and lighting looks amazing.
Oh Yurr! Those Devin specials wouldn't be as special without it!
Drums sound fucking amazing too!
RIP. We always love you and your art. I started listening to Alexi's music with Synergy. Man, it was my entire Life...
The Sinergy days with Kimberly and Roope were glorious.

Your covers are always justice and beyond to the original band. Thank you for honoring our metal hero Alexi, Samus.

I'm so glad I was able to see them play live, one last time before he passed.
Fair winds, Alexi, we all miss you already.
That melodic breakdown section is pure bliss. Alexi was, is, and forever will be the man.
Incredible job my guy!

Rest easy, Wildchild \m/

It's the best Bodom song in a long time.
RIP Alexi. Dude was too young. Eternal peace, brother.
Wow Samus you put a lot into this cover. I’ve never seen anyone put this much heart and passion into a cover.
And also R.I.P Alexi
RIP Alexi! Killer cover 🤘🏽
Ohhh Yurrrr! - I don't expect nothing less than this!
Rest in piece Alexi, may you shread for the rest of time, wherever you are! 🖤🤘Brilliant cover Samus, it's really heart warming to feel the amount of passion and energy you have put into this cover. Keep up the amazing work and Sex! Love from down under 🤘🇦🇺
I love this song!! Riff has like a Blackened vibe off it too...
Top !!! Parabéns .
I was lucky enough to meet Alexi back during the unholy alliance tour with Slayer, mastodon, and lamb of god. I miss him. A fucking legend.

Well this isn't cob. This is bodom after midnight.

Did you ever play Phantasy Star on the Sega Master System.. the 3rd game had blastbeats in the battle music 😁
I mean., it’s as blast as you can get on a 16-bit cartridge.. the battle music was really cool because it changed depending how you were doing., and sounded awesome when you were losing 😅

Great stuff man! Thanks to you, I might be able to add drums to my skill-book. Any chance for Decapitated Homo Sum beats break down?
