I played the previous Saints row games and compared it to the new Saints row game and I can say without a doubt that the previous Saints row are better.
When its put into context that the majority of the team(if not every single person) who worked on SR1 to SR3 has left Volition long ago and the people who were responsible for this reboot are people who worked on SR4 and Agents of Mayhem, suddenly it makes a lot of sense why this reboot is a such a trainwreck.
I’m surprised no one is talking about the saints tower that cost $8mil that literally took 2 days a full on grinding or waiting to get free money, just to have a roof top and a shitty garage, the weapons wall is a person and same with the clothing spot, a heli pad was worse than the church, you don’t even get to see the inside of the tower, you just get this cutscene of the tower as the camera pans up, just to have a rooftop, wonderful waste of my money and time, I had to buy my friend the game to have someone play with me just to not play half way through
Given that I "Acquired" it, keep in mind it will take up 50GBS when installed. And take some double digits hours to beat the game seeing a fair amount of stuff. Even with the price of Free, it still costs you.
I just really hate how much that studio consistently rejected even constructive fan opinion ifd we weren't part of a specific audience, inner circle or a game journalist.
i havent cause ive seen the entertainment industry do this over and over and over again in the last decade. take original IP change everything about it to cater to a new BELIVED far left extreme audience then mock insult and downgrade any of the original fans opioons on the "NUBOOT" on there necks. then when it fails blame the fans again as literally yatzi and fail upward getting hired to "spitte those mean old yatzis". perfect example the woman who did the shehulk show literally ONE she hulk series before had that got cancled before it finished was 80 percent jen moping not doing anything realted to superhero. AND SHE GOT HER OWN SHOW FOR A FAILURE because again she calimed "og just yatzi thats why they did not wike"
With the "sell it now, fix it later mentality", we players also have to look at ourselves a bit. There are far too many of us who still blindly pre-order everything and just accept all the bugs. The really bad ones among us then defend the behaviour of the developers as if they were their friends. And if you warn them to be careful beforehand, they label you a hater...
Unfortunately too many people are complacent or even delusional. They play a game like Sonic Frontiers or the new Pokemon game, see all the issues they have, and go "oh but they'll fix it later!"
Also the whole “every game comes with bugs now. We just have to wait for the day one patch. Give the devs a break!” They sure were quick to take your $60+.
@@blinkachu5275 tbf sonic frontiers is a good game. But you can tell where sonic team got rushed and the bugs are unexcusable. 7.5/10 from me. But Ima bit biased *as you can see from my pfp*
solid video, my dude! you put a lot of soul into this i can tell and its already one of my favorite videos about the reboot. feels like the saints row design team is a revolving door with different people coming in every title to put different spins on the idea.
It sadly does feel like a revolving door doesn't it? Ever since agents of mayhem dropped...So did a lot of volition's staff.. It also didn't help that they were working through a pandemic as well during SRR's development. It's just unfortunate disaster after unfortunate disaster. But it's mostly caused by Volition/Deepsilver collectively shooting themselves in the already bullet riddled leg.
It is though? It’s punishable by death and you get a charge called the big fat meanie charge which was instated all the way back in 1697 when America was first created by Michael Jordan (Micheal B. Jordan that is). Everyone knows this smh stay in the loop!
Yeah, that is basically exactly what it is, and also who it was catering to. This game was definitely the violent power fantasy of the perpetually offended children who can't take heat on Twitter but love to dish it out.
This game was catered to the strawman of the left, which is, by definition, a very insignificant amount of people. The games that the left ACTUALLY like with any sense of political messaging, tend to be the Fallout games, and I hear a lot about disco elysium.
I miss the times when media had a specific audience. There was no need to appeal to the lowest common denominator for maximum profit because the lowest common denominator wasn't into video games.
I tell myself developers will learn from this, that making uncreative bland generic shovelgames meant to appeal to the mass market will die. But than I remember esports and fortnite exist and are the current industrial cornerstones. Games are art, people have forgotten that.
@@adepressedcatwithabadnicot246 games where never art, they where allways seen as child games or as any other product, the point of 90% of game is to make money

Actually, the timing of your review is pretty spot on since it coincides with the death of Volition being absorbed into Gearbox. No doubt being caused by all the issues you present in your video. Saints Row had one of the best fandoms in gaming. They cared so much about the franchise and Volition and were able to be honest with the developers instead of kissing the developer's ass and praising everything they put out. Volition can never say they gave the fans what they asked for and that caused the game to fail. Unlike most games, Volition knew almost immediately after its debut that this was not the direction the Saints Row community were happy with. Information most developers would die to have. And for some reason and against all the developers claims of being made for the fans and undying love of the Saints Row community, Volition chose to not just ignore the advice and wisdom of the SR community, but they became downright hostile to anyone in the community that failed to sing their praises. Volition had become ashamed of their gangster roots and edgy humor along with the fanbase that adored it. They saw the backlash from OG fans as proof that they were on the right path. The people that grew up loving the original games were no longer the type of people Volition wished to be associated with and they made sure that the gaming press and everyone on social media knew it. Volition can never genuinely say they gave the people what they wanted, and that this is the result of listening to that advice. As I said, most developers would die to have the information Volition did before games release. Volition just decided to not heed that advise.
@@atomic747joining the house of Randy and borderlands three was an joke by having Streamers and influencers as villains degrading legacy characters and killing off an fan favorite siren Maya lastly having an angsty teenager commanding the ship .
You made an excellent point. If the game releases in a buggy near unplayable state; it deserves to get “review bombed.” Your review is based on your experience. You shouldn’t have to withhold judgement until the developers decide to fix their mistakes (if they even do)
Thing is with the Nahualli is that he betrays you to steal your friends so he could have some. But... The Saints were already trying to befriend him. All he had to do was say yes and show up with pizza and beer on the weekends. Its like someone offers their car for you to borrow but you steal it anyway.
The thing that get's me most with Nawahli is he betrays you so that he can steal all your friends...but only after you befriend him and everyone in the Saints warms up to him? So why even betray the Boss? All the saints like him, the Boss is deferential to them and alway asks him to come around and hang out. What does the Nawahli even get from doing his weird Stockholm sitcom schtick?
I hope the franchise does epic comeback and secondly Volition isn't evil or greedy also who is going to replace GTA competition look also I hope they will fix up their reputation by the way and you're just kind of the reason why people do nothing but criticize you hater
Excellent review! You made a lot of good points and brought up aspects I didn’t even consider. It’s just a shame though to see the series in this state. We can only hope that Volition will take in all the constructive criticism from the community and use to mold a better product down the line. I won’t be holding my breath though :/
Thank you Zilla! Appreciate it! as for the future of saints row... in my opinion, i think it's over... i honestly do.. Volition in my opinion just wants to do their own thing but are too afraid to take the risk of another new IP considering what a mess AOM was. So they stuck with what could have sold, which was saints row. All i could really hope for is either the SR2 Patch or SR3MP which in my opinion deserves all the support it can get from the SR community, as fractured as it is.
That would be the smart thing to do but I don't think they see it as "constructive" criticsm. I think that they believe that they did everything right and "haters are gonna hate". I puzzles me that they think people who have supported this franchise (and gave them money for 16 years) just one day decided that they wanna see it fail.
You know last I heard of the reboot before it came out was that it was set in New Mexico. I was really excited because I thought it would be like Breaking Bad. It definitely was both of those things, but not as in the title of the TV show.
@@SLEEPGANG I’m very proud of the joke, but I wish I never had to make it :,((, I had more fun playing Saints Row Money Shot…I had more fun playing that program for the Nintendo DS that helped you quit smoking, and I’m not even a smoker (although, such a character arc in a game would be hard to beat by any title).

the reboot has no replay value and that’s what hurts the most. personally i have played each saints row game more than once and have loved it each time. i can’t even boot this shit up without remembering those stupid ass larp missions and dry humor from every character. GREAT VIDEO! 🎉
Bruh i played through this game TWICE because i legitimately couldn't believe how bad it was the first go around. But some how the game was worse than we all thought. Every time i went back in to the game, i shut it off after like 5 minutes because i know i could be playing far better games in the series and in general. I would feel bad for volition but this is the game THEY CHOSE to make.
Gat, Pierce and Shaundi ARE Saints Row to me. SR2 was my first game and I'm still blown away by how badass it was in every way. This abortion was the exact opposite of what I was looking for. RIP Saints Row and Volition.
Lemme tell you, it feels really good seeing a low-profile channel make it big from a video that strikes gold. Oh right, and this review slaps. The comedy, the editing, the points-- it's all good stuff.
again the best advice i can give is if ANY western companies responds to critscm from customers with sarcasm or attempting to devluale the review with insutls or implying there just bad people if they dont like it. IGNORE THAT GAME THEY HATE YOU AND YOUR FRANCHISE AND WILL RUIN IT TO SPITE YOU.
I feel like I'm the only one who had a blast with SR4. Making my character look like Miku Hatsune and flying around the city listening to EDM while wrecking everything in my path with the dubstep game was just so much fun.
I will not lie, I did manage to extract some fun from playing this Saints Row game, but you nailed the issues right on the head. It doesn’t do anything new or exciting, but it does some things solidly, which is no bad thing. However, all the other glaring issues do dilute the experience. And the buggy release was simply abhorrent. It was cute when Bethesda did it, but since it’s somehow the norm, it’s become sad and tiring. You definitely nailed everything in this video. Great work on it. Let’s see what happens with Volition now, since they’ve moved to Gearbox.
Some devs still looking for ''modern audience''. They don't exist. Those people that scream on Twitter don't play video games. Trying to make games for them is huge mistake.
Funny considering everyone was hating it AS SOON as the game was revealed last year The devs who never played a saints row game before thought they knew the licence better than long time fans i guess
Lets be honest, the sr2 patch will never come out, unless someone infiltrates volition's office and steals it and finishes the dead cancer patient's work themselves
@@SLEEPGANG I am lashing out at volition. Granted, it does sound mean towards Mike ''IdolNinja'' Watson, Im just trying to emphasise, how volition didnt move a finger to fix their only good game in over a decade and have 1 guy take the wheel to try and do something.
Amazing vid. I'm subbing. Also, the Idols take selfies to call in two more Idols to fight you, exactly like the perk where you can call in two Saints yourself.
I dont care about woke or non-woke. I just wanted fun. And the game wasnt freakin fun. Not even a little. Customizing my characters and guns did not make up for that at all.
Yours, alex webbs , itslazerbois, rpg, mrsaintsgodzilla , flippy and the professionals are really one of the best reviews for this game ever. Heck you even got flippy , the king of saints row content, saying its his favourite video. Well done mate. You deserve that like button.
It isn't just that the game was awful, and it wasn't just that it was the total opposite of what Saints Row is. It's that the developers straight up said they hated one and two, and didn't like the fans, and told the fans to get screwed when they said this looked like trash. Now the game didn't even break even, Volition was shut down and folded into Gearbox, so the chances of another Saints Row is basically zero.
Not really, the IP of a franchise is allways valuable. Maybe we dont see other game in 6 to 9 years, but maybe we see other game in 15 years, like with doom, duke nukem, etc
@@NA-uz7co I don't know man, that usually only applies if it was a big hit. Saints Row has long been considered by many to be the dumb GTA rip off, and it hasn't been helped by this game at all. But I guess time will tell ultimately, would be nice if what was destroyed could come back.

Such a shame they dropped the ball, all they had to do was go back to what the older games did best and make the game playable day one and they’re golden.
I’m playing the first game for the first time in over 10 years. It’s honestly embarrassing how a game that’s almost 20 years old has more content and is more replayable than its 2022 “successor.” RIP Saints Row. Again
Absolutely banger video boss. I think the part that aggravated me the most about this reboot is a twofer of people insisting the series was always horribly mid and nothing we liked of 2 ever counted for anything (which apparently is parrotted by the COMMUNITY MANAGERS AND ADMINS CREDITED IN THE GAME ITSELF). Then on top of that people new to the series digging their heels and insisting it's an undisputed good game that doesn't need to be perfect and everyone's just nitpicking and so on and so forth. Like Bro it's mid at BEST even with the bug fixes you just wanna pretend you didn't waste 60-80 bucks at launch like a chump
This was a treat to watch from start to finish. A true Saints Row gentleman review. I've been finding myself distancing myself from the Saints Row community as a whole lately, but I'll always be here for quality content. I wonder what the future of Saints Row is now that Volition will be working with Gear Box... I still don't have high hopes, Volition has dropped the ball far too many times.
Let's be honest, its over bruh. Saints row will forever be one of those series that you're fond of until you remember it went to the trenches and will never come back. If the IP is bought by a developer that has some fresh ideas that work for saints row and that are inline with what it was, sure MAYBE i'd give it a whirl. But TBH i don't think it could get worse than this unless gearbox volition make something even worse.
This game wouldn’t have failed nearly as hard if they just called it a spin off or spiritual successor imo. It still would’ve flopped but it wouldn’t have made sr fans as angry.
What's interesting about The Boss of Saints Row 1 and 2, as said by other people, is that the first Boss is a psychopathic douchebag, with a dark sense of humor. Or I like to call, modern day Joker. Saints Row Boss of 3 and 4, is an action movie hero character. All the explosions and wanton destruction and cheesy comedy of action movies, none of the bloodcurdling psychopathy of Boss version 1. Of course, that is not to say The Boss isn't still a psychopath, just the action movie hero kind where they have the body count of a war criminal, but not as dark. The reboots characters however, especially the boss, is neither of these incarnations. The reboot's boss is basically the "How do you do, fellow kids." version of The Boss, thought up by a bunch of out of touch adults, who don't know anything about what youths like and how they actually behave. Which is sad.
thank you for your effort to make this review it's well done and you mentioned everything needed to know about the game, the only thing I liked was the map and the unscripted sets of a flipped car crash, police raids, or simply just a cop pulling over someone in the desert or people camping just gave it a glimpse of life yet all of that is completely not worth the hassle if the game itself isn't that great. also I 100% the game yesterday and if you're wondering why the idols are taking selfies during gunfights I can confirm that's because it's the equivalent of the ability where you can have "homies" appearing out of thin air.
Takedowns are required to recover health? So it's basically "People like having to melee kill to get health back in Doom, so let's do that even though we have zero clue WHY they like it in Doom." And it's actually pretty simple: Doom wants you to play aggressively. Close range, always moving. You're not the underdog, you're the unstoppable force that the demons are desperately trying to survive. And looking at this game, playing that aggressively will just get you killed anyway.
Getting that Platinum Trophy on PS4 took Years off my Life Expectancy 2:50 That Helmet. In Hindsight, how rude is it to already show DLC Content in the first Teaser? NitpicK: Why is it THE Nahualli? I got told, that's just a Name, not a Title.
Honestly, I like reviews months after a game comes out, gives us a view that has a lot of the facts. As well as the clearest view of how the developers will leave the game/ how they prioritize their fixes.
Honestly Eli could work if he was the bookkeeper for a gang, or even gangs since I can see those that aren't front and center terrorizing people can be under the radar. He wouldn't necessarily be getting his hands dirty since his role is more behind the scenes, he can gleam some intel as he's working, and he can siphon money out of the gang(s) he's affiliated with. Bonus points if he dresses in his colorful outfit with that bowtie on off hours and wears a boring suit as a bookkeeper so he doesn't get caught while double crossing them like Neenah and Kevin does. Saints Row 2022 is what kids and teenagers think gang life is based on shows and movies.
the devs tried saying the shirtless mf (even forgot his name) had more depth than Gat a very bold claim indeed, but you know why his death was retconned in 4? because nobody wasn’t pleased with the idea that Gat probably died in 3 (had a funeral, and a zombie gat companion and all) you simply just can’t announce a new character to have more depth than a character that has been with a series ever since the first game, to find out said new character is a walking cliche
Games like the saints row reboot are the exact reason why I haven't bought a new game in a long long time. Last game I got for 60 bucks was red dead 2 and that was a Xmas gift but, I would've glady spent my own money on it. Other than that, for games now days I'll wait a while for the price drop and the patches are in
I remember as a kid arguing with my friends as school what was better gta or saints row 2. A few years later saints row 3 come out , I completed it but knew was finished, all the atmosphere of the game got replaced for cheesy comic book style stuff the only thing I liked was the zombie zone to mess around with and the crazy cat mini games… people forget the original flying bike was on Saint row 3 now gta 5 has the mk lol
@@VoidByDarkness I wouldn't be so idealistic just yet because remember while Deep Silver was a major roadblock to getting several games finished. They're already had several internal issues even before they became a problem Basically what I'm trying to say is the publisher isn't always that bad guy and a developer occasionally needs to have somebody with an ax above their head.
Games like this is why I got a Xbox one next to my ultra high-end pc just to play the great classic like SR 1, 2 ,GTA SA to name a few ... It's a sad day when games that are 15 year old are just better than the latest and "greatest"...9 out of 10 times ...
When I first played i expected to at least being able to lean against wall and shoot , I mean there’s been so many shooter out that I feel something so simple as that would’ve been in there. Once I saw that wasn’t there I knew it was going suck
You nailed it when it comes to Saints Row (2022) the game wasn’t as bad but it wasn’t as good as it could’ve been. I just get my fun out of it 100% the game before the updates. I still play the 1st two games I own every game in the franchise. Still play Saints Row 2022 the game could be a lot lot better
You know, the more I think about it I think the Reboot can be saved with a Reboot of its own... both involving Dex. If you want to ignore SR(4) then release a DLC where Dex comes to 'mentor' the Hipsters, which drags the real Saints to turn the Hipsters into real Saints after Dex betrays them. If you want to keep SR(4) ... then make the 'Johnny wishes for a new planet' ending canon, and the Hipsters were in a simulation and the DLC starts with a wounded Johnny waking them up and throwing blasters at them ... and they can still bring Dex back as an escapee from Hell and have him be the reason the original Boss is out of the picture.
I don't know what happened to volition. It all started down hill with red faction armageddon. Red faction armageddon was a game where you could destroy any building and it was amazing...... In the first level, the rest of the game you are underground with barely any buildings. The magnet gun was a shit ton of fun. When there are building otherwise you are just throwing enemies into each other which didn't do much damage and took forever and was not cool. They took the lazy road and basically took out the main selling point of their game by making everything ground instead of destructible building.
I knew from day one that this reboot was a disaster, that it was going to fail miserably. I haven't played any Saints Row games at the time and I already knew what was going to happen next. That's when I played Saints Row 2... and I absolutely fell in love with the game. The gameplay, the activities, the story, the EVERYTHING... It rivaled even some of the best Grand Theft Auto games in so many departments. It felt like a PERFECT game, and that's coming from someone who wasn't a fan of the series prior. It was THAT good. I couldn't have enough of it even after one full playthrough, so I would constantly replay it from the start and complete everything it has to offer. I also played Saints Row: The Third, and I thought it was mostly alright. It definitely doesn't hit the highs of the previous games, and the changes it made have downgraded the series as a whole, but it was still a really good time. As in, it was a very fun game. The activities were still fun, the missions were still amazing and the story still managed to deliver some sort of substance. Especially with the ability to choose one of two endings, which I personally thought was sick as hell. The gangs still needed some work, though, and the map and NPCs were more lifeless then ever before. Overall, like I said before, a very fun game. Then, the reboot came out. It turned out exactly as I thought it would. Buggy, unfinished, with a shitty story pandering to younger audiences and outdated gameplay that was worse in every way compared to the first original Saints Row game. But let me tell you this: I still gave this game a chance. I knew it was a shit-fest all through out, but the fanboys who could not stop saying "you didn't even play the game, how can you criticize it without even giving it a chance" got on my nerves and I decided that enough was enough. I wanted to put them into their places and I played Saints Row Reboot. It was DOGSHIT, a HORRIBLE game. A game so SHITTY, *I ACTIVELY WANTED TO GIVE UP PLAYING IT.* So BUGGY, with gameplay so STALE and with story so CRINGE, I literally couldn't handle it. It felt like this game was KILLING me. And it really felt like it shat and pissed all over the legacy of the old games, like... like, it just pushed the franchise into it's grave and then smeared it with toxic waste before closing the lid and pushing the casket into the dirt mound. This is what Saints Row Reboot is to me: an absolutely *DISGUSTING* video game. I've not seen a game so terrible and offensive to both it's fans, community and customers before in years, and that's saying A WHOLE LOT. The Saints Row franchise is dead. Volition is dead. And they died not with a bang, but with a whimper... But still, their legacy lives on. The old Saints Row games still exist. Saints Row 1 and 2 are iconic to this day. All I want to do is uphold these massive legendary games that stood up in the open world crime simulator genre and brought something fresh to it... something that was even great. It rivaled GTA, it truly did. Don't listen to all the Rockstar Games fanboys that said Saints Row was just a copycat, they don't even want to understand why it was so great and unique in the first place. I'm hoping I can one day play Saints Row 1 since it's not available on PC. I tried playing it through the Xenia emulator, but it ran so poorly that it was impossible to play. Maybe someday I will finally do it... Even from all the videos of the cutscenes and gameplay, it truly looks like an amazing and engaging game to play. I'm sorry for droning for so long about all of this. I like to lay it out the fullest, so I tend to write entire walls of texts of just my thoughts and feelings. The reboot still had small shreds of good in it, but they were all completely overshadowed by everything horrible it had to offer... not like those small shreds were reused from the previous games anyway. Which, y'know, were good games. Obviously. But as of now, I got another round of replaying Saints Row 2 ahead of me. So, if you'll excuse me...
I literally had a nightmare of this game. I was customizing my character eyes size and width and I realized, IN MY DREAM I REALIZED AND SAID "oh no.... I bought saints row reboot" woke up and said thank goodness It was a dream
12:09 You also forgot to mention this. Another thing i hate bout customization being on the fly is that it now makes all the interiors for the clothing stores feel useless now once you buy all the clothing stores. Whats the point of making an interior when you're not gonna bother coming back to it once you buy all its clothing pieces. Thats one of my biggest pet peeves for this game
What really killed this game for me was watching a review talking about the mission where you go hunting for happy meal toys. Now, I don't mind the toys themselves. What I was angry about was how, after you get the truck full of toys, your homie talks about how he always wanted that toy because he never had a real family to give him one, and he's gonna give the rest to the orphanage he grew up at. It just really screams 'I think our characters are getting too villainous. Quick, let's add in a line to make them sympathetic'. If the old Saints did this, it'd be because the boss was pissed they didn't get their happy meal toy. And somebody would ask if they're really going on a rampage for some cheap plastic, the boss would point out that it's the principle of the matter (probably with Pierce stating its false advertisement) and it would end with the boss getting their toy and giving the rest to the others. Whether they wanted them or not.
Preach it dude I’m sick of this shit from developers I know this because the ultimate way to make more money but barely any work into a game put it out barely functional in the public will buy it anyway they’ll get money even for a unfinished game that shit needs to stop
I remember playing the 1st saints row in my dorm room in 2006 on Xbox 360 and people stopping by room being amazed, it's sad how far the franchise fell, the only good news is that you can play the originals on new Xbox consoles or pc, even the remastered version of SR3 is really good. Everything after that is trash
Undeniably my favorite game series of all time. Back in the day when i wanted saints row, i played it, now when i want saints row, i watch reviews about the reboot. 😔
Straight facts man, the disappointment in seeing this game is just stupid like how can they do this to games these days, it doesn’t make sense they should be better how are they worse when there’s better technology and more people who want to make games??? Please volition n any company out there actually make the game n complete it 100%
For as much as we like ti piss and moan about them, it feels like Boomers and Gen X’ers at least had a sense of identity and knew how to make a risk in their business ventures. Something that Millennials clearly don’t understand in their games.

take original IP change everything about it to cater to a new BELIVED far left extreme audience then mock insult and downgrade any of the original fans opioons on the "NUBOOT" on there necks.
then when it fails blame the fans again as literally yatzi and fail upward getting hired to "spitte those mean old yatzis".
perfect example the woman who did the shehulk show literally ONE she hulk series before had that got cancled before it finished was 80 percent jen moping not doing anything realted to superhero.
It is also the fault of the player if they purchase a buggy game day one or pre order. I 100% agree.
Unfortunately too many people are complacent or even delusional. They play a game like Sonic Frontiers or the new Pokemon game, see all the issues they have, and go "oh but they'll fix it later!"
This is why I only pre order games I know I'm going to like and have done enough research on beforehand. The Yakuza series hasn't failed me yet.
Also the whole “every game comes with bugs now. We just have to wait for the day one patch. Give the devs a break!” They sure were quick to take your $60+.

It sadly does feel like a revolving door doesn't it? Ever since agents of mayhem dropped...So did a lot of volition's staff.. It also didn't help that they were working through a pandemic as well during SRR's development. It's just unfortunate disaster after unfortunate disaster. I miss the times when media had a specific audience. There was no need to appeal to the lowest common denominator for maximum profit because the lowest common denominator wasn't into video games.

God, it's going to get worse with Gearbox.

The saints row reboot is like ordering a large cup of Coke from McDonald's and not having the carbonation in it
This game wouldn’t have failed nearly as hard if they just called it a spin off or spiritual successor imo.
Sucks to see it fail so hard after the series had been dormant for so long. Don't really see much of a comeback after this, but here's to hoping.
Only comeback I hope for is a remake/remaster of the first two tbh
Volition got shut down and folded into Gearbox because this game did so poorly... so I imagine this was the final nail in the coffin.

thank you for your effort to make this review it's well done and you mentioned everything needed to know about the game, the only thing I liked was the map and the unscripted sets of a flipped car crash, police raids, or simply just a cop pulling over someone in the desert or people camping just gave it a glimpse of life yet all of that is completely not worth the hassle if the game itself isn't that great.
also I 100% the game yesterday and if you're wondering why the idols are taking selfies during gunfights I can confirm that's because it's the equivalent of the ability where you can have "homies" appearing out of thin air.

Takedowns are required to recover health?
So it's basically "People like having to melee kill to get health back in Doom, so let's do that even though we have zero clue WHY they like it in Doom."
And it's actually pretty simple: Doom wants you to play aggressively. Close range, always moving. You're not the underdog, you're the unstoppable force that the demons are desperately trying to survive.
And looking at this game, playing that aggressively will just get you killed anyway.

There was a comment you showcased from the CG trailer: "the only franchise to die twice."
I agree with them, it already died.

a very bold claim indeed, but you know why his death was retconned in 4? because nobody wasn’t pleased with the idea that Gat probably died in 3 (had a funeral, and a zombie gat companion and all)
you simply just can’t announce a new character to have more depth than a character that has been with a series ever since the first game, to find out said new character is a walking cliche

We can only hope that Saints Row 2 either gets that patch or Remaster after Volition gets sent to work for Gearbox.
YEA SLEEPGANG!!
Yes SIRRRRR
Great video, earned yourself a sub
Thank you for becoming a Sleepyhead!
Oh shit even the homie flippy popped in to say congrats!
I literally had a nightmare of this game. I was customizing my character eyes size and width and I realized, IN MY DREAM I REALIZED AND SAID "oh no.... I bought saints row reboot" woke up and said thank goodness It was a dream
Great break down video man, looking forward to the next one.
What interior? Stores have a dedicated building but you mostly buy from a shack placed outside
There's no interiors, the game makes you buy clothes at a little shitty tent outside the stores
Revised Title within 72 hours of releasing the video : HOW TO KILL A DEVELOPMENT STUDIO: Saints Row (2022) Review
Preach it dude I’m sick of this shit from developers I know this because the ultimate way to make more money but barely any work into a game put it out barely functional in the public will buy it anyway they’ll get money even for a unfinished game that shit needs to stop
In the saints row reboot they have Easter eggs and on the radio it talks about Stillwater and steel port
Great review. The real shame is the open world is the best looking, best laid out, in the Series for no reason.
Undeniably my favorite game series of all time. Back in the day when i wanted saints row, i played it, now when i want saints row, i watch reviews about the reboot. 😔
I really don't mind a late review, glad I found this channel!
From another relatively small channel, I appreaciate the effort :)
This aged like fine wine. How to kill a studio
Straight facts man, the disappointment in seeing this game is just stupid like how can they do this to games these days, it doesn’t make sense they should be better how are they worse when there’s better technology and more people who want to make games??? Please volition n any company out there actually make the game n complete it 100%
The original saints row was so good it red ringed my xbox 360
For as much as we like ti piss and moan about them, it feels like Boomers and Gen X’ers at least had a sense of identity and knew how to make a risk in their business ventures. Something that Millennials clearly don’t understand in their games.
