    The supernatural monsters always have a fun feel to their horrors, but the human ones.... have a real disgust factor to them. And the villains of this tale are no exception....

      @@poomop3750 Idk. I think humans end up being generic too. A lot of monsters in stories are pretty unique, but the human antagonists tend to be more cliche in my opinion. And with a monster it's scary because it's something otherworldly that doesn't really exist. Stories like this are usually a bit more anger inducing than fear inducing. Again, just my opinion tho. There are definitely some really good stories with human antagonists, they just tend to be based off of others more often than not.

    • @poomop3750
      @poomop3750 Рік тому +1

      @danielthemaniel7934 See thats the thing with monsters, you can only have so many "the creature had 4 arms and was starving covered in blood and screaming" type creatures before it gets old. Would it be scary to be in that situation? Heck yes it would be. But is it scary to read or listen to? Not really in my opinion. The unknowable is a good tool in literature when its used correctly, unfortunately many aspiring writers and 14 year olds on reddit don't use it well.

      Having a young daughter situation like this keeps me awake at night. My fear turns to anger. There are men capable of this everywhere, women just don't understand how dangerous men can be. For a father,husband grandfather, brother any man who would die before seeing any woman he loves ever hurt, this is pure terror. The only advice to give is make your stand and fight when you have your chance and go for the eyes.

    I’ve been alive a long long time - too long some might argue - and I’ve had cars break down on the side of the road more times than I’d care to guess. Every single time I’ve gotten out and popped the hood. And you know how many times that’s resulted in me making a few judicious adjustments and heading off on my way ? Not one damn time. I frankly don’t know why I bother. I only mention it because I bet a discouraging number of people who’ve slogged through this post share my perfect score. Nice story Doc. Like a cross between Deliverance and Henry - Portrait Of A Serial Killer. Just the sort of yarn to soothe my bubbling moon juices.

    I’ll make a note to everyone: if you ever find yourself in a kidnapping situation, and have any access to the driver, do all you can to wreck the vehicle. Kick the transmission shifter, steering wheel, anything that makes the vehicle go wild. Do Whatever it takes. And if/when you crash, it’s always going to be better than what was coming.

    Ladies, please buy a handgun to protect yourself. When your mouth saying "no leave me alone" isn't enough, 9mm jacketed hollow points say "No" quite a bit harder.

    I understand the need for a content warning but I will say that, in my opinion, horror is at its best when it's still able to disturb you. I'm not talking about SHOCK factor like Hollywood does with gore and trying to pass it off as horror, I mean genuinely disturbed or creeped out. When I was listening to this story I just imagined the absolute hopelessness those girls felt. They had no choice but to climb into that creepy car hoping for help and as the story plays out you are on the edge of your seat knowing what's coming but hoping it doesn't. I could feel their hopelessness the whole story and it had me genuinely disturbed and creeped out, that is what I consider good horror writing.
