- Iran's Supreme Leader has declared five days of national mourning following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. The wreckage was found early on Monday. The foreign minister, one of the nine on board, has also been confirmed dead.
Al Jazeera’s Michael Appel reports on how events unfolded before and after the crash.

The headline is misleading. Ebrahim Raisi was responsible for the executions of so many Iranians, he was known as the "butcher of Tehran".
In the late 1980s and early 90s, between 4,000 and 5,000 political prisoners were executed thanks to Raisi and his so-called "death committee". Many were denied due process, and according to Amnesty International, the decisions on which prisoners to execute and which prisoners to spare were "arbitrary in the extreme".
More recently, in the nationwide protests following the senseless murder of a young Kurdish woman by Iran's notorious "morality police", Raisi oversaw the regime's violent crackdown of protests, in which many young Iranian women and men ... including actual kids ... were arrested, beaten, tortured, raped, and murdered -- for the simple act of speaking out against an oppressive, evil, theocratic regime.

I am a Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor. It had nothing to do with the condition of the helicopter. It was the weather or an inside job.

You are wright about that. Its an aircraft which the president en senior officials are transported in. These are very looked after. Iran has a very big fleet of transport helicopters especially this one must be up to date and functional. Even though they have sanctions there is a big market for them for spear parts. Because the Bell 212 are all over the world. I don't like to speculate. But all high senior officials of iran are getting killed. 3 helicopters and the only one gets fallen of from the sky, in the very far border with Azerbaijan. Which is known there a groups or elements working with foreign agencies. Then in a time where there is big time war. Maybe i'm wrong, lets hope so.

An old 40 years old helicopter without proper maintenance and spare parts combined with bad weather and probably pilot errors, a catastrophe is obvious.
I do not see any huge changes under the Mullah Regime. Yes, it will be harder to find a successor to Ali Khamenei. The post of a Supreme Leader is the real power in Iran. If anything should change than it starts from this position. The other posts are not that important.

Two other helicopters landed safely and the one with high officials went down. And you think this was an accident. Who refilled the fuel tank of the helicopters in Azerbaijan. Do you know how much fuel a helicopter consumes. Like 15 gallons per hour. The fuel tanks of the helicopters had to be refilled. Someone allegedly sabotaged the helicopter of the high officials in Azerbaijan. When the truth comes out and Israel is behind this? They will admit that they are not the chosen people of God.
