Some really good, quality habitat you guys are making there. The only thing I would like to see more of other than ragweed is more native forb species. Yes, I know ragweed is good for the wildlife- just not good for my allergies - lol. Just curious, has your quail and turkey numbers responded accordingly or are you experiencing pretty much what the rest of Missouri is as far as turkey and quail numbers being down?

"Quail and turkey number are growing. We hadn't seen quail on most of the farm for twenty years but are now seeing singles through the summer in various places. Turkey numbers are also growing after 3 years of major flooding in 2017,18 & 19."

Farms under water. Any lemonade to severe flooding ?

Unfortunately no. You could look at this perspective though, the flooding will act as a disturbance, similar to burning or discing. This will allow the seed bank to germinate and provide some good native plants for deer and other wildlife.

Does the fire burn well during the growing season? Do you need to spray with glyphosate first??

If you killed the vegetation by spraying then you should have no problem runn ing a fire through it. If the vegetation was alive the conditions would have to be ideal and your consumption would vary.

Marestail is a more problamatic weed then lespadeeza

Incorrect sir. Marestail is utilized as a forage though it gets a bad name from a producer standpoint. Serecia has no value. Marestail is common in no-till agriculture... if you implement fall disking it will eliminate some of the marestail if it becomes too prevalent whereas if you try that with serecia present thats almost all you will get back.

@@usernamehere6061 Correct. Also, sericea is not native and marestail is.

Yet its all dead in the winter where there is no food. Golden rod ragweed useless in winter

Correct the herbaceous stuff is gone in the winter. But the wood sprouts are not. Woody browse makes up the majority of a deers diet in the winter. So managing for a good mixture of herbaceous plants and woody plants is ideal.

Broadcast winter wheat and easy to grow cereal grains for winter. NO RYE ANYTHING. GRAIN OR GRASS. Cold tolerant oats and winter wheat are hit hard late season

Winter is not everything, as stated in the video Turkey and Quail need that herbaceous habitat for brood rearing. Also there are grasses and woody resprouts that will provide cover even that first winter, its a tradeoff to eliminate some amount of winter cover for deer to have excellent habitat throughout other important parts of the year
