      This album has it all, really. A very entertaining and diverse collection of songs sequenced perfectly.

    The first of many great Dylan classics! The standout track for me is Hard Rain. The Imagery it captures throughout it such a treat to the ears and mind. Cheers

      Yep, same here. Hard Rain was the song that turned my head, big time, when I first heard this album. The rest of the album was great, but Hard Rain was a revelation. I remember how it stayed in my head for weeks after hearing it. Die-hard Dylan fan from then onwards.....

    Another wonderful review. I also love Masters of War. So many of Bob's songs from this album and from other albums in the past were relevant back then and are also relevant to this very day. He knew it then and he knows it now 🤜🤛💯

      Just goes to show that we as people never seem to learn anything from history or mistakes.....in fact, it often seems like we intentionally ignore any such lessons that might be gleaned.

    I enjoyed this run-through. Some say this was the first "album" in the recording industry.

      Hmm, interesting point.....the first "album"....I've never thought about that before. Thanks.

    I`ve heard many people say that "Don`t Think Twice, It`s Alright", was written for Suze. Including Dylanologists. My question always was, "How could that song have been written for Suze when they were still together at the time it was written?" I mean I`m assuming they were still together being that they are both walking arm and arm together on the album cover in which the song appears.

      I never try to think too much about Dylan's biographical info (as suggested by his biographers) when listening to his songs. I do think that biographical info is probably in many of his songs, but I prefer to think of the songs as more universally interesting than mere biographical reflection or something. Right or wrong. Haha! Cheers. Jeff

    another lovely review. Its easy to take Blowin In The Wind forgranted as its so familiar,but as you say its a special song

    • @CalicoSilver
      @CalicoSilver  3 роки тому

      Yep, so true. On the surface it almost has a rather Kumbaya feel to it unless you think about the lyrics a bit more deeply. No, it is not "Gates of Eden", but it is still very thought-provoking nonetheless. Thanks for your comment! Jeff

    Girl from the north country was definitely inspired on based on Scarborough fair. Just like the animals house of the rising sun is inspired by Dylan's. Not to mention Scarborough fair is a traditional song and had been around forever.

    • @CalicoSilver
      @CalicoSilver  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, ever since I heard of the Scarborough influence, I can kinda hear it in Girl From North Country....kinda. But if no one ever mentioned it, I'd have never heard it. As old and classic as Scarborough is.....I still think Dylan's song is better! Haha. (but then again, I AM rather biased, I know....)
      Hey, btw, I love the playlists you have on your channel! GREAT music there. Soul, rock, everything.

      Oh yeah Dylan's is so much more meaningful and emotional. Thanks, you have a great channel, I'm sure I'll spend the next few days going through all those Dylan reviews.

    Bob dylans dream is also underrated.....,,,,,girl from north country is 1 of his first poetic songs.....I also love Lay down your weary tune, which should have been released and prob inspired by Wordsworth....

    • @CalicoSilver
      @CalicoSilver  2 роки тому

      I posted a video a while back about Lay Down Your Weary Tune and the title of the video was something like Shelley, Wordsworth, Keats and Dylan. Thanks for your comments, Jason. Jeff

    What you say about the rythm in the Master of War its so true, but i get also that feeling because All the song is on F.

    • @CalicoSilver
      @CalicoSilver  3 роки тому +1

      You mean just the one chord throughout, right? Yeah, I agree - that contributes to the claustrophic tension of the song.
