I would encourage all owners to pay particular attention to the area where the foot pedal sits in a recessed position on the front deck! My Lund Renegade had 1 drain hole, and it got clogged and the pedal was sitting in a couple inches of water. I cleared the drain hole, but ADDED 2 more to prevent future foot pedal baths LOL. I can't think of anything worse for electronics then sitting in water!
I’ve been very lucky. My Ultrex has been going strong with no issues since 2017.

Before you do anything I suggest checking your trolling motors to make sure they are not failing. I recently had an explerience on the water when my Ultrex quit working on the water. I noticed when I got home and pluggen in my Minnkota on board charging unit that one of my batteries did not show a charge after a day of charging. Sure enough when I replaced that battery my Ultrex came back to life. I did order the spare on off switch for future issues but I would add this to on the the most common issues when your ultex motor stops.
Great stuff. I have a Ultrex 112 and I stopped get any audio beeps from the controller...such as when the unit comes off SpotLock you get the series of beeps. Now its completely silent. I've been advised I may have switched the audio mode to off but I cant find anything on how to switch it back or if that's even a feature. Got any suggestions?

Question do you have a video on cable management or adjustment? I am having an issue with my ultrex when I deploy in the water the cable sits on top of my fish finder. I appreciate any tips.

I have had issues with spot lock, twice within a year it stopped working. Sent to the boat shop since it was under warranty. First time the on and off switch was bad, second time the head and foot circuit board was bad, had to wait for parts due to Covid.....I am not happy with minn kotta.....will try another brand on my future boat. Now my GPS puck is not working.....how do you fix that????
Good video! The power switch is one of many outsourced part manufactured in some third world country which although unfortunate is something that factors into pretty much anything you buy now-a-days. The unsealed steering sensor board is an outright fuckup for a company that has been manufacturing trolling motors as long as Minn Kota has! Same thing for the steering cables, Minn Kota steering cables (in early model TM's) have always been thicker and more durable than Motorguides, maybe they thought they could save a few bucks using thinner cables with the electric assist but that isn't the case. The mounting frame issues are IMO growing pains when changing the design of the frame over the Fortrex. What Minn Kota really needs to do is get a brushless lower unit to market. I've heard rumors that they are working on one and may even have one but are having production issues.
Does the ultrex built in transducer have a temp sensor?? If so how hard is it to change out or would it just be easier to add an external sensor?
Having spot lock problem. Nothing is under or hitting the peddle. Power is good ...could a network problem be causing this.
My ultrex when on spot lock and head rotates to port side it comes on full power, should ramp up. Any idea what part I need to repair it.
I unplugged my ultrex to do some work and when I plugged it back up, it lights up but does not work now. Is there a contact or breaker in the pedal? I hear a pop from the pedal when I turn on the switch. Help.
Quick tip for latch bar and everything that connect and unconnect to the trolling motor. Use anti-seize on any moving parts and you will save a ton of time on the water when the dam thing is jam.
I have a new bass rig with a MinnKota Ultrex 36V i-Pilot. Sometimes when I am running my Ultrex and remove my foot from the pedal-switch, the motor continues to run, like it is in continuous mode. I can make it stop by tapping the switch with my foot.
my ultrex will run left with no problem but turning right it is hard to move the pedal. Any Ideas?

The 80 lb. thrust takes the MKP-33.
The 112 lb. thrust takes the MKP-38.
I dont know if I would buy another Minn Kota again...still having problems with My 2016 iPilot Powerdrive the remote shuts off all the time....and they cant fix it...Im so pissed

my min kota wont pair to heading sensor when i turn the heading sensor on the blue light starts flashing but when i push the pairing button it does not beep and then the flashing light on the heading sensor goes out
my ultrex is moving to the left by itself when deployed. the foot pedal is still tight and I can move it back to the right if I push real hard on the foot pedal. do you have any idea what could be causing this?

Question why the lockstop drifts back and way far were I’m want to lock stop on it want move just after locked the stop

I'm looking to upgrade my trolling motor to either an Ulterex or a Fortrex. I seem a lot of complaints with the Ulterex. Any suggestions?
Both of them are good motors and are very similar. The Ultrex does have more problems then the Fortrex, but also has a lot more features. It really depends on whether you want I-Pilot or not.
Is the ulterex I pilot link better than the standard I pilot

Have had 2 tmotors screw up using plug on panel.since I have direct wired no issues at all
Anyone hear about the motor falling off of a brand new ultrex 112. Mine did with only 7.5 hours on it
I hope everyone needing an on off switch reads this comment before installing a new one. Go ahead and turn the foot controller upside down. Take the plate off the bottom. It’s not at all difficult. Cut the wires to the bad switch off from underneath. It’s almost impossible to connect the wires from the top side. They are just too short. It was much more than difficult for me. Very easy to do from bottom side.
My spot lock quit working. At first, it was intermittent but then stopped working completely. Any advice?

What would cause it not to latch in the stowed position. The cams keep it down, but it's not latching. It does latch in the deployed position though
There’s several things it could be. The pivot pin locks into the latch strap bracket and that holds it in the stowed position. I would start by checking that and the extension springs.
Also see a lot of these brackets not locking in the stowed position if all of the mounting bolts are not torqued down evenly.

mine was acting possessed from the get go. fine in the driveway and freaky on the lake. (i pilot link version) turns out it was not compatible with the helix ten's software. also maybe an ethernet issue. worked fine on the trailer because the accompanying graph was off. go figure. after changing batteries, re-wiring that side of the boat, we finally figured it out. peace.
My first issue was with the momentary on/off switch. The prop would spin as soon as I deployed it with or without the prop button on. Had to pop off the momentary on button and push the magnetic button down. Poor design.
My locking bar thingy is stainless
a freakin' plastic latch bar??? And cables? Do all the electric steers use cables? or just the minn kotas?
Another video indicated someone has a stainless lock down bar.

Control board. And sensor goes out and cost lot money. I regret. Buying minn kota😢
I guarantee all these issues were discovered during design and testing. Someone from upper management with no real engineering experience made the call to put the cheaper option in. Sometimes cost comes before quality.
Mate my Ultrex mufflers weren't real flash either. The muffler shop identified 5 fabrication problems and after only being on the car for a couple of weeks they started to drone and got excessively noisy.
They manufacture these systems in the sweat shops of Asia and don't even Q.C. them on the way through.
Would definitely not recommend.
Shouldn't have to have all those extra parts on boat if it was actually made for fishing and not an overpriced piece of junk. Nothing but crap since purchasing it last year.
