- Today I discuss my first ever surgery experience, post surgery nausea and how I'm monitoring my pain, meds and PT. For the next five weeks I'll be documenting my progress...
Stay tuned!
Hi! I just had radial head replacement 2 days ago! I fell off a skateboard 10 days earlier. Yeah the nerve block was crazy stuff. Like cement! It's great you made these videos! Maybe I'll make one as well. I'm on oxy all day. At the moment I can't move it at all its crazy painful if I even try moving elbow/wrist at all. I don't even understand how you're able to move it so soon! I can barely lift my hand lol
Very helpful videos ! Thank YOU!❤
Thanks for the exercises, very helpful 9:43
Hey- looks like we’re in pretty much the same boat- I’m currently 5 weeks post op of a radial head replacement and ligament reconstruction. Great that you’re putting this out there as I’d looked myself to try and get a gauge on my recovery and how well I was doing (or not)! I guess I’m a little ahead of you in time. Your progress even 1 week in is pretty impressive! I’ve found the first few weeks I made quite good progress but it seems to have really slowed down now! I can almost get my arm straight, just not quite the last bit- but flexion is the frustrating bit, I’m still very limited- I can brush my thumb over my ear but that’s it at the moment- seems like I’ve been able to do that for the past 2 weeks with no significant improvement yet- but I’m told this is the long, frustrating and hard part of the recovery! Keep at it and we’ll get there in the end!
5 weeks out and i'm at the same flex stage as you! we'll get there - how did you do it?
rozrm motorbike accident in Morocco! I did a proper job of it and broke both arms! Radial head on the left and base of the radius on the right. Think I’m 6 weeks post up now and starting to see some improvements - at last!
You should make more videos- keep the info coming out to help others on their journey!
Hi
Today is Sunday and last Monday so 6 days ago I had radial head replacement (the head was shattered in 5 pieces) and lateral ligament repair.
I also had the nerve lock and full body anastesy, so very similar to you.
I'm taking Co-Dramol that's all they gave me but because of excruciating pain that started on Wednesday I'm also taking ibuprofen.
You seemed to do well with not having much pain after operation but I am in imaginable excruciating pain to the point I scream. 111 was useless on the phone. I also have swollen puffed up hand and fingers. Is anyone out there who's experienced such pain after elbow operation?
And what did you do?
Thanks in advance.
When you show you doing the exercises for your arm is that the arm you just had surgery for that you show twisting your hand? If so how long after surgery were you able to do it?
hi grant - yes the arm i twist is the one i had surgery on. I was able to do this a day after the surgery, as soon as the nerve block wore off.
