Great podcast! I really enjoyed it. When you mentioned not giving advice to avoid getting called out and getting pissed I instantly thought of those that would call you out for NOT giving advice hahaha... gas lighting has become an internet art form and there will always be someone who creates conflict. When imagining you looking out the window staring at the ocean... The Talking Heads song Once In A Lifetime was playing in my mind. Excellent example of how perseverance can shape perspective and vice versa.

Definitely agree with Jeff and Darby. This time of life is a gift. When I was working, I would always ask myself, what would I be doing if I actually owned my time and wasn't building someone else's dream all day, instead of my own? That's what retirement looks like for me. I'm sad that some people that I have loved very much have suffered depression at the least and death at the worst, for feeling that they had no purpose once the stopped punching that clock. I'm grateful everyday. My daily life is not even filled with constant travel or traversing all of the tourists sights and countless classes, dances, concerts and just over all fun stuff to do here in my country of residence, as many do. I know once I am still from a lot of activities, I am going to have to be happy with how I'm structuring this time of my life, so, some days, I'm just chilling. It is a great time for self-reflection and learning new things. I love it. Thank you for sharing those perspectives Don.

Thanks for another great video Don. I really enjoyed Jeff’s perspective and certainly agree that if one doesn’t have a purpose in their life, they are like a rudderless ship. Just a vessel floundering, occupying space, with no sense of purpose. It reminds me of a line from one of my favorite movies from the great actor Morgan Freeman: “….get busy living or get busy dying.” I’ve had too many friends languish around on their couch just waiting to die. And that is NOT living my friend, it is merely existing. I’ve been retired for about 5 years now and have rarely been bored! Why? Because I now have the time (which seems more precious the older I get) to learn from people like you. Although you frequently reference your dislike of giving advice, hearing your life experiences is, in fact, very sage advice. Thanks again and keep of the good work! Stay safe and the best to you and your loved ones.

Don, thanks for sharing this insightful information with us. Frankly the best podcast I ever heard. Indeed retirement is practically a full time job! And sadly the only one we won't survive! I retired 4 years ago and love it. I'm always busy. Although I wanted to move in a foreign country, very likely in South America. I decided to put a hold on such adventure. All the problems in Ecuador ( thankfully you kept me well-informed) shifted my gearbox to a low speed. Time will tell.
