- Опубліковано 4 гру 2023
- Follow along as we progress on the front door frame. Setting the draught strip grooves and explaining why they are positioned where they are and how they work. Aquamac 21 is my main draught srtip but will potentially be using the deventer seals in this frame.. Also sanding the profiles and setting up for hand scribing the joints. I make a special 45 degree marking/chiselling jig ive wanted for a long time aswell. Plenty to look at! Relevant links below

Agree with the comments….. the technical aspects are what make your series above the bar on UA-cam…. Onward young man
Absolutely brilliant series. It's rare to see a professional talking clearly and simply about what they do.
Loving this series and look forward to watching how you tackle each step. Every episode is a masterclass
🥳🤟
Im finding this series fascinating, the ultra fine detail going into every piece. This video contains the two classic "Ollie" lines, "Trend sent me this" & "George made me this". I think George deserves his own video, called "George made all these for me" 😅
One (of many) good aspects of your videos is that it shows the complexity of your, and how necessary it is to attend to all details!
Loving the format - don’t worry about editing fancy footage….the craftsmanship is what counts!
It just doesn’t get any better than this absolute perfection at its best I could literally watch you all day great videography too with it thank you😊😊😊😊
Another excellent series. You have a good amount of detailed information in a video that is not too long. Please keep doing it this way.
Ah the old aluminium saddle square! That reminds me of my college days 😅. Not done a hand cut scribe for a long time. Really enjoying this series Oliver and as ever your attention to detail and quality is inspiring. Reminds me how much I enjoy making doors. It's a shame I rarely get the opportunity to make them these days! Keep the great videos coming, really looking forward to seeing the finished article
Understatement OF THE YEAR: "...I live in a the world of truly bespoke joinery..."
That spindle moulder terrifies me! What a bit of kit!
Well done, there are quite a lot of us who relish detail and maybe we will benefit from the knowledge too.
You are doing a great job, I have learnt a lot from your videos. You are good at explaining both the how and why, which is so important. Thank you.
Absolutely love this series of videos Oli, love the detail and effort you provide thank you.
Videos are good. Don’t need a Spielberg epic here. Information is fantastic. Thanks.
Videos are 10/10 mate. And everyone should have a George next door too!
Videos are excellent, perfect amount of detail without dragging it out 👍. It would be cool to see the door assembled BEFORE painting 😉
Videos are going great - interesting to see the use of a second seal and how to position so it’s not in the way . I have to get out and build a door using some of these techniques! When I watch you go through everything it inspires a good bit of confidence to try it out myself before attempting it for a client
Excellent series of videos. For me, just the right amount of technical detail and video length. Cheers.
These videos are ideal for me - fascinating and informative. Love the format and your judgment about how much depth to go into.
I’m loving this frame series of videos, very technical.
Keep em coming please 👍
Absolutely love this style of video, you are doing a brilliant job so please keep it going. 👍
Great series, quality work, quite rare now back in the day we would make similar for banks, police stations. council ect but now of course its all glass so its good to know this tradition is still continuing, loved the machinery tour also.
Thanks again for your excellent organisation and explanations. Cheers. Jim
Fantastic videos of incredible joinery. I fret about messing up a cut on the timber - and I’m just watching!
Really enjoying the progress on this project! The videos are like spending time with you in the workshop and following along!
Love the videos, great to watch while I'm doing the washing up!
The videos are just so. I'm soaking up information towards machining, assembling and installing jambs doors in my house--mine are much simpler, of course. The information on weather stripping is of particular interest to me here in typhoon country.
Great videos Ollie. For fear of repeating myself. Absolute quality workmanship looking forward for tomorrow's installment. Cheers 🍻
Great videos, full of admiration for your brilliant carpentry 👍
Beutiful workmanship !!!! 👍👍👍👍👍💪
Ollie. IMO the videos are great! Its like being in your head and going through the thought process with you. Its how it is for the rest of us and nice to know you have these internal discussions too. My apprentice, bless him, struggles because he doesn't hear ny internal dialogue sp? Which i need to work on, but I'm right with you buddy😊
I'm really enjoying this fabulous door build.. I'm just having difficulty with painting Sapele... but then it's not my door...👍😁🇺🇲
The videos are just fine. Thanks for making them.
Your videos are perfect, not too long and not too short with just the right amount of explanation. Useful having metal man George too 🌞
Great content, very much enjoying this style. Keep up the amazing work, its inspirational stuff.
excellent work , good explanation too , looking forward to the rest of it and the finale :) no worries about the videos , hands on is really good to watch , its immersive .
This series is brilliant mate
great content, very much enjoying this style. Keep up the amazing work, its inspirational stuff.
The Seagull strikes again. Having watched Handmade: Britain’s best woodworker, I’m certain you could have easily nailed it, were you willing to put the time into it. Easily.
Great work mate. So clean and accurate.
Spot on Ollie
This is a top class series of videos I look forward to watching every one as they are released
Keep it up mate fantastic content 👍well done
Videos are great mate! We’re not watching titanic, we’re watching you build a chunky door and frame.
Anyone who has issues with the cinematic aspects can take a walk !
Just don’t be having snails for lunch you callus murderer!
Snails are animals
Snails lives matter!
Brilliant channel 👍 always great content
The videos are wonderful - Great work!
I think the videos are great.
Enjoying the vids keep um coming
Love the fly on the wall vids, good work, enjoying this bit of considered tech joinery
I love the new video format, keep it going pal and hopefully one will go viral
This is so fascinating to watch, you working at the intersection of fine woodworking and practical homebuilding. This project is going to look amazing when it's installed. On a side note, just watching you explain the draft strips triggered something in my mind and made me realize how to solve a draft problem on my own front door, thanks! (P.S. I'm in Canada so I can spell "draft" the short way, LOL)
Absolute excellent video series, keep 'em coming, enjoying every second
great stuff
Good job!
It would also be nice to have a series edited from these videos that is more of a ”popular documentary” of this build. Say 3-4 45 min videos showing the build process but leaving out the nitty gritty details and technicalities. 🤗
Great video...
Videos are great.
Excellent video, can't wait to see the door go together.😁
Love this style of video. This door is going to be stunning 👌
Фантастика 😮😮😮
🥳👍
13:49 you talk about scribing the joint here but why do you scribe and not just mitre the whole moulding there especially as part of it has to be mitred anyway? Is it to make the joint stronger? Great videos by the way. Always learning when watching you. Keep up the great work 👍👍
Like most profile scribes the idea is that it's better suited to hide any gaps that may appear due to shrinkage of the timber. This is obviously more likely in external joinery of this nature. A straight mitre joint would open up far more and leave a more unsightly gap on show
🏴👍
Hello, excellent work as always.
Looking forward to the next chapter.
I hope you don’t mind me asking but what software do you use to create your finished films?
Thanks - Gerard
Thanks, I've transition from windows to Mac in order to use Final Cut Pro 👍😂
@@BradshawJoinerygood work, I’m a graphic design and work with adobe after effect and Final Cut Pro every day. You’ll be fine mate - Apple is the only way to do these types of projects properly - without having a mental breakdown.
Good luck mate
Gerard
Hope I’m not being dense, but did you rout in the wrong direction or was it a camera reverse thing? If I did that, the half inch beast router would kick out 🤔
Just got to hold steady and counteract the cutting action you know is about to happen. Climb cut it alot cleaner than normal but alot more risky
May I ask where you get your seals from because I struggle to get them
Marches Ironmongery but not bought any for a few years.
Deventer from coastal
Why do hold the router the wrong way round. Is it just me? I run a joiners shop and they do the same.
👊🫡
How are the videos doing? I like this format. No offense but you do get wordy in the old format. This format you appear to be moving faster, shorter videos and thus, less words. I think it's perfect.
Vids r great. Keep em coming
Perfect balance between enough technical detail and length of video. Keep it going! Enjoying this series enormously while learning so much as well👍
