I just lost my Belgian malinois last summer. I rescued him, he had been adopted twice before me and returned. He was the best dog I ever had. Loved watching this video!
I’m sorry for your loss. Losing your pet is awful. In a span of 7. months we lost a cat, then in the last Saturday of May we lost another cat, then a week later we lost our dog. We were reeling with the grief. So we had one cat and a dog left, then after my hubby passed away suddenly in June/21, a friend offered my 2 sons who are adults, 2 cats from the same litter. We now have, 3 cats, 1 dog and 1 bird. Take care. 🤗
I love the light you bring to animal control officers. Being one myself, it is really important that we are seen as people and not portrayed like we normally are in the media.
How long did it take you to become an animal control officer? I’ve been thinking about becoming one for a while because i want to help animals in whatever way i can. When i was a little kid it was my dream job lol
After 9/11 there was a task force created a Soldier was ACO,the care and understanding plus the difficulties and horror of stories that was told .It put that title of career a all new light of respect and what goes into that job.
Facts tho, it wasn’t until this video that I realized they aren’t heartless people. No offense, tho. I used to watch a lot of dog shows as a kid and they were always the antagonist and stuff. That officer really opened my eyes.

I found a shepherd malinois on the street and took her in. I know someone abandoned/dumped her. She's such a good girl but yes, extremely focused and driven. Currently trying to find her a job with an owner who has time for her because she would THRIVE with a job. I love her but I know Im not the proper owner she needs. I just wanted to save her and keep her safe until I find her a forever home ❤ she acts just like Odin. Super high energy
Cheryl (Shelter volunteer) is my kind of person, and she helped Odin get a second chance to make friends with another dog. Dogs are one of the most blessed things we get to have in our lives, and deserves all the chances to get back on track. Thanks Cheryl!
She got extremely lucky.. Watching that, I was visibly cringing. A high energy working breed, has been in a cage for God knows how long, hasn't excercised. An indoor room, on taught leashes, nose to nose. Letting that Weimaraner mount the Mal like that.. They're pretty much doing everything wrong trying to introduce two dogs, like they're actively trying to provoke a fight. Reply

A friend of mine works in a shelter. He said it was heartbreaking once when a woman had left her rented premises in a disaster, and the RSPCA (animal control) was called because she'd left a few cats behind. 42......she left 42 cats and kittens locked in that house. They found 2 dead litters just lying on the floor of a closet, and the house had to be completely stripped and recarpeted/painted etc. They caught all but 4 cats, who jumped out an open window and escaped. Considering none of the cats had been socialised, and were quite aggressive (from fear) to humans already, I'm guessing that those 4 cats ended up as ferals, which sucks as it was a rural area. Also, over half of them had cat flu and far too many had to be euthanised because they were just so sick. Just also want to say that Sharyl's compassion for Odin and other dogs is always very bright and warm to me! And also that I love how Rocky is so grateful and generous with adopters, when he's the one who has just given them the gift of a good decade or more of unconditional love!

A dear friend had a Belgian Malinois. They are bred *for* their obsessive/compulsive nature. It makes them great rescue dogs and recovery dogs. My friend's dog was mostly a destroyer of balls. She had every kind and obliterated them all, UNTIL she got a Kong ball that was designed for Lions! The OCD really came out with that ball, that she would trap and guard for hours. A big help with her behavior was going for a car ride every day. After a trip to the vet, it was observed that she was gentle and attentive with cats. So she got a kitten. I had one from the same litter and we had play dates. The Malinois would do her best to herd them up the stairs if they wanted down. Eventually, the cats' "you're not the boss of me" attitude won over her controlling compulsion. She was a handful, but a very loving dog.

My husband just adopted a Malinois/German Shepherd x and I tried to tell him how much energy the Malinois have lol. He just had knee surgery in January lol. Thankfully he’s had tons of training and he’s going to take him through advanced training. His name is Jaxxon(Jaxx). He’s definitely the best guard dog we’ve ever had an he’s an excellent family doggo. I just adopted a Japanese Chin/Pekingese x. She’s such a sweet girl and definitely set her boundaries with Jaxxon. She’s all of 11 pounds and he’s 80lbs lol and she put him in his place. The funniest thing ever. I’m glad he got adopted! That’s awesome!
This is awesome! Thank you for what you do! I gotta wonder if Odin is going to try to fit in the cat bed or if that's his way of asking for a cat friend.
Cooked bones can be dangerous for dogs btw, they break into chunks more easily and the dog can choke on them. They can't digest rawhide/beefhide either. it can lead to intestinal blockages that require expensive surgeries to fix.
I own a Belgian malinois and he love’s attention. He also needs lots of walks and play time. These dogs are so awesome and loving and in my case mine even jumps up and gives hugs! Although these dogs are wonderful the reason why so much of these dogs are in the shelter is because of this a lot of people don’t realize the time these dogs need which is why I don’t recommend them for first time dog owners.
I'm a disabled 72 year old woman who raised GSD’s for most of her life AS PETS. If no one takes her, I will! I have a scooter, so I can walk her, a large yard so she can play, and plenty of room in the king size bed I bought years ago to accommodate my GSDs. FYI, GSD’S love to chase laser lights! Great exercise for them! I know she'd be happier with someone who could regularly exercise and play with her, but no home could be more loving for her than mine! My neighbors all knew that my Shepherds were gentle giants because they were raised that way. I even found a stray in my yard one day because a neighbor, thinking it was mine, put it in my yard. And SHE had been afraid of large dogs! Save this beautiful animal!

She looks like exactly my baby!! It broke my heart. I hope she already has a home and a family 🙏🏻
Breaks my heart. She looks just like my boy. I hope she finds a good forever home.
Thank you so much for spending time with these fur babies.
