6:16 It will definitely change the artistic world. The artists will be divided into those unique and notable, who don't use midjourney and the rest, who will merge into a large faceless nameless mass of "midjourney artists".
I truly, truly found your discovery summary inspirational, especially as a filmmaker currently working to expand special effects. I'd love to learn more and experiment with Midjourney AI (I've signed up for the beta...can't wait)! Your art is amazing...I love all of it.
Thank you! Although I’m Deaf, I can speak normally and had pretty challenging speech problems as a kid. My right side of hearing is 100% gone, and my left side is about 25% gone.
MJ's training is only about 400 million images from up to 2019. Training data was apparently curated somewhat (I've heard it mentioned that they avoided things, like nudes, gore, or other NSFW images for example), but the goal was to be "general purpose." UA-camrs may or may not be represented in that data... so it probably doesn't know who Kelly is. It's true that there is a racial bias, like if you put in "beautiful woman" it's likely to show you a white woman in the 30 to 40 y.o. age range 99% of the time, unless you guide it with a country of origin, etc.. I'm going to venture that the "general purpose" training images and tags that are fed to it, may therefore have a bias, largely based on the bias of a general selection culled from the general internet and public domain. Users generally have to overcome biases with prompts, but unknown celebrities are unknown. If you haven't gotten into image prompts, this would be one way to get a more specific face. Also you may be aware but the devs said that we are likely a little ways away from an update that should bring around 10x the image training data and a rewrite of the bot as well. This should improve coherence a bit, and update training data to include (some) more recent events and public. How much is unknown.
Those are all excellent points! Thank you so much for taking the time to share them, Ben. I understand what you mean about the trained image set, and see where you’re coming from. Thanks for watching!
I'm confused as to why these AI aren't fully public yet. They could make so much money if they opened up to everyone and charged a reasonable monthly fee. Right now I need to join a waiting list or something and say pretty please. Why do I have to beg them when they should be the ones begging for my money?
A fantastic video. What tool did you use to animate yourself as a voice actor? It's almost impossible to tell that you're animated (an animated photo maybe?). Would be really cool if you could tell us, or even make a tutorial about it. Once again, really cool video from you!
Hi Matthew, I just want to say this is the best intro to Midjourney I’ve seen! Your descriptions of limitless possibilities mesmerised me and convinced me to take up a subscription. Now I have been creating and dreaming for a few days almost non-stop (sounds familiar?), and it has been a very fun and freeing journey. But I must say my results are not nearly as impressive as yours. I suspect you use a lot of extra modifiers in your prompts… Would you consider sharing some more details about what exact inputs and directions you have discovered that make your images so artful? Or is that a secret sauce? Kind regards :: Peter Lightyear
@@MatthewCicanese That’s very kind! I’ve sent you a friend request on discord, maybe we can connect there? Looking forward to diving deeper into Midjourney this weekend!

Cool vid. I think AI like this cannot function without first having some input from artists or other pre-existent things first. Do you happen to have any invites left? I have been on the waitlist forever, still not allowed a seat.
Thank you, Shinjitsu84! I appreciate you checking it out. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been on the waitlist forever. I’ve already got my invites out to friends, but hopefully I’ll get some more soon. :-(

This is great, but VERY ADDICTIVE. Really. But it is really amazing. But there´s a catch... this is not free, you have to pay to use it (which may be a good thing, so you don´t go nuts and loose yourself in it, hehe). As for the future... it´s not really there yet, but I see this replacing illustrators and photographer someday, in a not so distant future. I discovered that it is really good in creating illustrated portraits (but not photos) of people, I´ve come up with some really good artistic portraits of famous people. I wonder how the copyright aspect of it works.... who is the creator here?
Teacher to student looking at 2 paintings in a museum. "Look kid the left imprestionist painting was made by a human. So simple those few lines and color spots. But you might think, a 3 year old child could do that too, couldn't he? But that right painting was made by an AI, humans could never do that so beautifully and authentic! So instead of drawing with pen and paper yourself, you will soon have AI make a drawing on your tablet in class. And if I like it, you'll get an A.
Very impressive. Strange that this AI is so bad with faces... they should cross it with Artbreeder, another AI program that is excellent with faces (but probably works differently)
I feel that it will cause certain creative bankruptcy of our species. But what can ya do. I mean many creative people will waste it in this. Instead of there being Zdzisław Beksińskis creating things for AI to copy we have just mixes of copies. But well that is what it is.
@@MatthewCicanese You're getting very confused, as is the way with much of digital art. The feeling that you are doing something is an illusion. You're just giving the A.I. something to do.
Goodbye Deviant Art. Thanks for all the memories.
I’m simultaneously in awe of of what the AI is capable of generating, and the ideas that people can come up with.
