Awesome pattern and instructions. I have tried to make a beret before but I didn’t understand all the details. Not I understand. I have been a dress maker for years but not a hat maker. I’m going to have some fun making hats.
Thank you for a great video! I tried to find your twill tape via your link to sewing machine plus but it wasn't there? I'd like to support the channel if possible for my purchases so wondered if you have a link to other millinery supplies? Thank you
Thank you so much! If you can email me, madcaphats@gmail.com ... I can send you some from my very large roll if you want to try it. I will also send you the link to the supplier that I got mine from. Tori
Hi Jeannie ... not much!! I would say that about 10 inches in length by the width or 25 cm by the width and you would still have some left over. So a quarter of a meter or yard. Buy yourself half a yard or half a meter and you might be able to make three of them. You can stagger the top pieces so that one is right side up, the one next to it pointing down, then back to right side up and then back to pointing down. That condenses the width of the fabric that you need for the top. Good luck and let me know if you have other questions.
Hi Bernie ... This is meant to be a fleece beret. I have not tried it with other fabrics but yes, I would cut on the bias if I was making it from something that does not stretch as fleece does. Tori
There is a Boho Cap with a visor. The video is here. ua-cam.com/video/jrWjhs7DhfU/v-deo.html To modify this pattern, you will need to cut the band, the long rectangle that is folded in the video and goes around your head, into two strips where that folded edge would be. Your band is now two pieces, an outside piece and one that is inside the beret next to your head. Sew the back seam of each piece and now you have two circular strips. You would add a visor to one piece at a time, sewing right sides together on one of the strips and then sewing the other strip to this assembly on the other side of the visor, sandwiching the visor inbetween the two strips. Cut center notches for all the pieces to help you line them up neatly. Hope this helps! Tori
@@MR__-ly5lr re[peat the top sections, cut on the bias, in a lining fabric like Kasha Cloth which is shiny on the good side and helps keep your hair lovely! Sew the lining to the outside top piece, once they are both finished, wrong sides together with an edge stitch and then finish by adding the band.
Jeanne, the Beret link should be here ... you might have to checkout but there is no cost. I will move the info to the easier download page in the next week. www.madcaphats.com/collections/free-pattern-instructions-for-youtube-videos/products/boho-beret-top-pattern-for-youtube-boho-beret-video-top-panel?variant=40109698777187

How much fabric would I need to make this beret if I had no scraps in my stash? Love the tutorial.

@@madcaphats Thanks. I'm also interested in purchasing a cloche or a boho fabirc beret.
If you can message me from the website about the extract hat maybe I can help with hat and extra fabric! Thanks Jeannie
I bought the pattern last night. 😊
If not using fleece, I assume you're also cutting the band on the bias, even though the video pieces don't indicate that.

Hello, how can we add a small visor to the beret?

@@madcaphats Thank you so much! What steps do we have to add if we wish to sew some hair-friendly interfacing?
