It's so interesting to see this data. I have looked for IDs and eLearning Developers to hire, and can say that this wasn't my experience. However, it definitely behooves me to know. While I found lots of people with experience and a deep understanding of theories, I could not find people who could show in their portfolio that they were proficient in Storyline. You can train people in understanding the theories, but to craft great work in Storyline takes talent. That's my two cents.

Thanks for sharing your experience! And great points - even though some skills ranked higher in the survey than others, the fact that the differences in percentages weren't too far off shows that a lot of these skills need to come together into a single package to really stand out. And it also depends on the hiring organization's need, too!

So, what I’m seeing is that as someone who has 5 years of classroom teaching experience and a Master of Education in Secondary Ed, I would be an ideal candidate for these jobs because I know and can apply learning theory.

Yes, education is a great foundation for ID! You'll likely still have to learn the tools and build a portfolio, but your skills from the classroom are relevant. Thanks for watching!
