People who made sirens: “Lats make sure their more terrified while their already panicking about the tornado!”
Except japan they had the right idea!
@@strwbrriibvnny._ Yes, but if you scare them too much they might panic and act erratically, and that's the last thing you want to happen when you're trying to get people to safety. You want to encourage everyone to stay calm and act quickly and efficiently.

I am looking for the model of this one, myself. It was used in St Louis MO when I was a kid. I still have PTSD from waking up alone in my parents house to that sound, and running for cover just as the windows blew in. It was unpleasant.
The Israel one is terrifying but not in the urgent sense. Like I wouldn’t have a heart attack and spring into action and run to safety, it’s more that I would have accepted my demise if I heard that
@@CK-sn2lg perhaps on its own, but after waking up with the windows being shattered and the roof buckling while that siren sounds once or twice (I was 10 or so at the time), my brain does a good job at filling in the urgent terror. At the time, I lived between several sirens, so the distant warbling wail was cycling chaotically, from all directions.
It's quite effective at scaring one shitless. When I got my own place, one of my requirements was that it have a basement.

Yeah, and when you know that youre in tornado alley and you hear it go off. Its usually amber alerts for me since we like to say we're under the dome, due to lots of close calls. But one time it got WAY too close for comfort, like it set off an alarm on my phone and literally i just thought "wow, this is it." So yeah. I gotcha.

Fun Fact: You know how people say, "When your alarm goes off and you pause the video and it doesn't stop...." That happened to me, well kinda. It was coming from my device.

honestly canada and australia have alarms that sound like actual alarms lol
The American one is a lot scarier when the real one is extremely loud and playing on the tv at 3 am when you’re trying to sleep
Same thing with Canada’s- it sound scary randomly but especially when it’s 2am
As an Israeli our sirens are also scary as shit, they overlay over one another, it sounds like a whale but it’s pretty terrifying because it goes up on pitch but it also doesn’t due to the overlay effect it has??? It makes you go insane in a way I remember hearing them as a kid during summer break during the small war we had with neighboring countries
@@legallydoodled9783 it sounds so terrifying
I live in Canada, and yes, it gives me a goddamn panic attack every time I hear it, even if it’s just a Covid update
Last time it happened during the night at like 2 am (I’m in QC)… couldn’t sleep for the rest of the night I was shaking on my bed… I woke up screaming for my life
@@tristanboivin8882 Oof. Last time I heard it was when there were grass fires in around the a community where my mom lives (I’m in AB), we were listening in case we had to evacuate due to how close the fires came to us (we didn’t, fortunately, but it still freaks me out whenever I hear it)
@@cheshireterror624 that’s not cool… here it’s for Amber alerts I think there has been 4 since the start of the year idk what’s happening

@@apex3510 yea

I swear Norway's isn't even an alarm, someone just found a scary ambient noise and decided that was perfect.
VELKOMMEN TIL NORGE
As a Canadian, I need to complain a bit.
1. It's almost always in the middle of the night
2. They send out two in 2-7 minute intervals. You'd think it's one french on English, but NO, it's two with both languages just switch which ones in front.
3. They send out WAYYY too many test alarms like honestly, they send out an alert every once in a while just to say
This is a test, there is no danger to your health
Be glad it works
Germany has a test once a year
And guess what nothing happened last time 😂😂😂
99% didn't work

Usa: THERES A EMERGENCY take cover!
Japan: there's a missing person just letting u know pal!
Norway: PRAY TO GOD ALL U WANT HE STILL WONT HEAR YOU
I feel like Japan is so scary, like it doesn't sound like it but imagine having a tape and its the last time you saw your family with it playing on the tv with one message. "Take shelter immediately. Nuke inbound."
Edit: Switzerland (again) sounds like when children find a fan
Later edit: also, there's a clip of it. The person speaking literally says "Please, remember the Great East Japan Earthquake!" Im pretty sure that earthquake claimed about 30,000 lives. Just the fear in his voice got me.
Japan?
Yeah japan scare fuck out of me
I mean, Japan has like three other sounds they'd use...
One being for J-Alert, I think...
Another being Jishin (I think that's how it's spelt) which is used in earthquakes among potentially other things if I recall correctly as an actual legitimate alarm sound
...and then a morse-code-wannabe sound in the event of a tsunami to tell Japanese TVs to override power and volume to on and high respectively to get your attention.
The one in this video's just the Early Earthquake Warning alarm.
Why must you scare me out of going to Japan when I really want to

The U.S. EAS is actually really scary in my opinion. Not in a "this is frightening" way but in a "holy fuck I'm going to die" existential kinda way. It's chilling to me. Even when it's just a warning, I feel as if I'm going to get blown to shreds by an asteroid or something.
It hits different at night. It's such a harsh and random noise. It's difficult to explain why it makes my skin crawl

I feel badly sorry for those who are really terrified of it because of 11.3.2011 :(
Canada should be 10/10. And here’s why:
One time back in 2014 my homie and I were hanging out while my parents were at a concert. They bought us a whole bunch of snacks and left us to play video games all night. We went to bed very late but we’re woken up just before 2 o’clock in the morning. My parents were on the way home, because the venue where the concert was being held was pretty far away. We were woken by the Canada sound and it was on my phone about an active shooter. The shooter was only 4 blocks away. So not only were we scared to shit because we were awake at 2 o’clock, but the thing we were warned about was only 4 blocks away.
I would be like: 911 (or whatever the Canadian emergency number is) send help and take me home to the USA again TvT
