Hey Bolton - I watched two other reviews on this about a week ago. Both of those reviews did NOT use the whoopie slings because their trees were too close for their need for them. Your review is the first I can find that tried the slings. I'm surprised in one way, but not in others. Onewind seems to be hit and miss on their products when I've tried them. Their quilts aren't bad for cheapies but I had two of their hammocks - one a 10ft which worked really great, I think I have it somewhere, but the 11ft camo one that I bought two years ago almost killed me. I took it out of the box, strung it up - looked great, tested the hang - laid down in it and was reading when "bam" the hammock split from side to side and I'm laying on the ground. Nothing in my pockets, nothing in the hammock, no sharp things. When I finally got off the ground (this old man doesn't recover from sudden hits on the backside as quickly as he use to) I checked the fabric and it was ripped apart with threads simply pulling apart, no cuts or smooth tears just jagged rips. The customer service was great in refunding my money and apologizing and had me send the hammock back to them (at their expense) to check it out, BUT from then, I have not trusted them with quality control - even though it might be the best? - it wasn't for me. So glad you weren't laying in it and having the whoopies fail. That would not have been a good thing. I'm going to comment on the other videos about your find IF I can find them so when/if they use the hammock again they will NOT use the slings. Thanks for the review even if it was a fail by Onewind. it wasn't for you.
Thanks for watching Ken I try to use them with what they are supplied with out of the box so to speak glad I was only testing and it didn't ruin a camp
Well, that was a bloody disaster! To many companies rushing to get the latest and greatest out before the competition and no testing! Tree straps and dynema whoopies for the win. Thanks for getting out and attempting the review, m8.
I don’t blame you buddy. I had the same problem. I changed out the foot end dog bone to a short polyester strap. And used different tree straps with daisy chains. I have several Onewind products, but they missed the mark on this one. I’m happy with their other hammocks and accessories. This hammock and suspension needs major improvements. I hope that fall didn’t hurt.
It worked a lot better the second time out I have quite a few lay flat hammocks but had to try this one from one wind the fall was OK just a bit embarrassing thanks for watching and commenting Dennis it's appreciated
wow not much weight whatsoever and they let go they should definitely have more bite then that. Onewinds cinche buckles have slipped on me as well not that bad tho. thanks for the heads up
@Bolton Maverick outdoors I have there tarp and its phenomenal and underquilt protector and got the cinche buckles to eliminate my daisy chain straps it's a must to tien a quick release knot at the end of the buckle on them sadly but it prevents them form slipping.
As you say those whoopee slings seem crap, my Covacure (as you said the best budget hammock on the market at just over £20) is a much better bet, if Covacure put in the bar at one end it would be much better than this for a fraction of the price. Thanks for the honesty as always mate 👍
