Thanks to your video I was able to order a used starter and selenoid off ebay for my evinrude 25hp and now starts with the push of a button. Even cut an extra pair of cheap jumper cables to finish the job. Mush appreciated the help!
Good video. Easy to understand. But you need to warn everyone that without a neutral safety switch it will start in gear. Also will start in gear with the throttle in any position.
But that can be a good thing - if you are trying to escape an angry grizzly bear or robbers? And don't forget what happens in horror movies? They always fumble with the keys, drop the keys, and when they finally get to start the battery is either flat or they kill the engine. Having the boat engine start in gear will ensure a quick take-off.
This is by far the best video in my opinion on how to convert a pull start to electric start.. i believe if i keep this video as a reference i can do this.. ill have to order new parts though unfortunately..I can not find a starter bracket for a 1980 johnson motor anywhere around here near winchester tn.. I dont mind it not charging I just hate pulling 35 hp all the time lol
Justt so all of you know that all the wire connectors should be sealed or in a very short time the green corrosion wil cause many problems down the line also you should use marine grade wireing that the conductors are tinned to prevent corrosion
Hi there, I’m looking for info on how to get an old Johnson/evinrude GENERATOR going? I have a late 60s 33hp ski twin that has a generator attached, but I’ve never found any info anywhere on how they work or how to wire them up. It’s the generator that looks very similar to the starter and runs off a belt on the flywheel. I’m repowering my little mini invader speedboat with this skitwin motor and it would be awesome if I could charge my battery for the nav lights…
