Dartmouth was the second ensemble to play thru Danse Macabre. The notes sounded so familiar when I remembered Surround Sound (S2) playing it back in 2009.
They do learn traditional outside of the ensemble. At this point after 20+ years, it's an identity thing. If Dartmouth suddenly went all traditional, it would be weird.
A high school snareline with matched grip usually means someone on the line had shit traditional grip and couldn't get it right so everyone must suffer. tsk tsk tsk.
IamDanielMax no, Dartmouth has been doing matched for years now, and also it’s generally up to the staff so if they want to have the students play matched grip, don’t blame it on the kids.
Nah Dartmouth has been using match since 98. At this point it's part of their identity. It's been working out so far. They placed in top 3 every year every up until 2013. Came back and dominated in 2014. Silver in 2015 and in 2018. Relatively speaking 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019 weren't their best years. But they still managed to never miss finals for over 20 years.
And yet they finish no worse than 5th in PSW, and are more often in the top 3. Oh and that's for 20 years straight now. Yeah they really care about how much you hate their matched grip, LOL.
This group never ceases to put out the single weirdest product in WGI every year but it's always so impressively good
The matched grip really goes with the show
*_Snares look like Brandon Olander_*
Holy shit they do lol.
Minus being short
0:40 "nice paradiddles ken"
pretty impressive at 3:07
1:38 is that... Traditional grip
1337 Haxorus no
Chris Mason I meant the snare feature
1337 Haxorus Lol yeah, they did it last year in their feature too. Idk about previous years since I haven't paid attention to it
1337 Haxorus I guess it's to show others they can play traditional since they gey judged so much for playing match
Mike L probably
I love how the mallet players look surprised at everything they play
Oh look the bluecoats
Hard to admit a show this absolutely stupid is also super impressive
3:25 how
chops bro
My thoughts exactly
They had a good show and i recognized the songs they used bc i played war thunder and when i heard it i was so happy
Why are there so many Brandon Olanders
That bassline is just beating the devil out of those happy little drums.
This is what i would expect a drumline being directed by Primus to look like. "Winona's big brown beaver!"
Jay P you sir are a legend
Jay P 👌🥁😎🥁👌
You couldn’t have been anymore accurate lol
I love watching this, and frankly I don’t know why
The marching style where they act like toys is so cool. I wonder if they ever fell over rehearsing this.
Tom Aungst that was fun to watch . They always come with something unique. Brandon orlander for the snares hahahah
*Pleasant*
Bluecoats and jersey surf are quaking
This is kinda creepy but cool at the same time
0:44 what are those things up in front? That silver thing with the black bars, and the silver one with brown bars?
They are good at drumming.
I feel like matched grip is the vertical video of the dci/wgi world
Even if matched really does just make more sense. Sucks that DCI still only does traditional.
From match to traditional👏🏼
Nice Bob Ross Bassline
Their front ensemble technique looks weird. It’s odd, and looks more like they’re solo marimba players oppose to in a marching ensemble.
SoyLeroy2003 freshman possibly lol
Been waiting on this one
Danse macabre. Does anyone know the original front melody that the front plays after the Barbie theme?
Very impressive...creepy and disturbing, but impressive!!
What's the Name of the first melody the Played?
yes matched
"NIIiiiIiCE PARRaddiddles Kken" 😅😅😂😂
Watch the song in the beginning of this video
Everybody is watching Chinos lot😂
Zack Beeman I was one of those people, kinda regret not watching Dartmouth
im so sad I left to watch Chino right before they filmed this!! I should have stayed longer but i saw them warm up so i cant complain
I wasn’t there to watch any scholastic groups
A Michael Norden bro some scholastic groups can be better then independent lines
chino hills*
What’s the melody the front plays tho. It sounds familiar
I think it's Danse Macabre.
Sammy Chapa which one? Cuz i know a part the front ensemble plays it's called symphony 7 by Beethoven but they mixed it up
Sammy Chapa starts with danse macabre, the Barbie song, Beethoven’s seventh as the closer

They are clean...... Yeah thats all I got...
Who writes the Pit book for these guys?
Pitstar Productions Jason Medeiros he’s a dartmouth alum
It's crazy how all out they go on uniform every year
What state? Dartmouth......?
kconcours13 Dartmouth Massachusetts
Wonder what their shows about
I'm sure you found out by now, but it's called "Out of the Box" and it's a Toy Story-esque show where where all the "toys" come to life.
Don’t worry it’s art
It would honestly really suck for those snares to want to do a corps because they are the only people that use matched
They do learn traditional outside of the ensemble. At this point after 20+ years, it's an identity thing. If Dartmouth suddenly went all traditional, it would be weird.
It’s so freaky!!
Just give it up, guys
What does this comment even mean? 💀
How... interesting
Nice Paradidles ken 🤣🤣
The snares look like the Bavaria flag
Dude 😃
This is fucking Creepy yet so Artistically. Hoooowwwww????
Boys lookin like the bavarian flag
dartmouth always has the weirdest show design
Wow pretty cool but also kinda creepy ngl
And que the ignorant comments about how they play match grip
Iain moyers mallets..
i honestly really like this whole show and concept and all that, but the matched grip hurts my eyes and i dont know why
Why they all look like cheesy 80’s talk show hosts, grandfathers at the beach, and hippies.
Jaiden Gomes - Watson that’s how they do it sometimes . They come up with crazy effects every year
Rhythm X Mystique Archives Dartmouth seems to have fun shows. I'd honestly choose to march Dartmouth over Chino Hills even if Chino Hills is cleaner
what the actual fuck did i just watch...
It hate the most creepiest thing I have ever seen in my life
Sabrina Gonzalez your grammar is really cool
HIGH SCHOOL………?ハイスクール??高校生?????ヴァッ?????
I don't get why people find this creepy.
This is creepy
not hard to be clean when you only have 3 snares...
Blake4z Bladerunner It is when you have world class level music, idiot
Let’s see you play it by yourself
My drumlime has the same amount
This was too cringe...starting with the matched grip
OnWisconsin1 you make it sound like you had more to your statement, please share with the class
Match grip is better, it’s more versatile and traditional is kind of obsolete. I wish more DCI corps marched matched.
A high school snareline with matched grip usually means someone on the line had shit traditional grip and couldn't get it right so everyone must suffer. tsk tsk tsk.

Match grip ew
The shows that come out of dartmouth get more and more disturbing as the years go by. And the more I hate seeing them play matched grip
judging by the stickers on their snares I don't think they care
phcasper Lol you act like they care about your opinion
I admit i don't like seeing matched grip either. But i love the strange mood of their show.
And yet they finish no worse than 5th in PSW, and are more often in the top 3. Oh and that's for 20 years straight now. Yeah they really care about how much you hate their matched grip, LOL.
