Awesome fishing trip! I went to Gold Beach a couple of weeks ago and slayed the surf perch. Used to live in Brookings, but I'm an "Inlander" now. Subscribed!
Nice video. Try using raw shrimp from the grocery store it works very good and is alot cheaper than sand shrimp. Also stays on hooks better. I fish at that jetty often and putting a 7 inch rubber worm on the teaser hook gets u alot more bass. But very cool to see u take your kid with u.
Is there anywhere along the jetty that’s not big rocks all the way up to the water? I just moved to Corvallis and I’ve driven up and down the jetty looking for a spot to fish but I didn’t see any spots that are somewhat wheelchair accessible. Love the video though!
Wheel chair accessible is going to be hard I will not lie. I know I’ve seen people fish off the peer there in Newport down behind Rogue brewery. I’ve seen people catch perch, rock fish, mackerel, herring, salmon (during season), and of course crab. I even heard a guy caught a shark down there once. I’ve personally have had less success though. Best of luck to you. Also it used to be where you could drive out a bit on the jetty in Garibaldi, but I don’t know how accessible the fishing will be from a wheel chair though.
Digit975 In the future when at the coast I’ll keep an eye out for something more wheel chair accessible if I find anything I’ll comment and let you know!
We just called them the a shrimp threader hahaha. You can’t buy them though we just make them. You can use a wire coat hanger. The ones in this video is made with an old windshield wiper rod. They are stainless steel and don’t rust with the salt water.
Great video

hi, can you tell me how far did you have to walk on that s jetty. thanks
yes! from where the sand ends we were probably about 200 yards out or so. but from experience the further you go out the better.
What happened to the hammer? We live in the same town but haven’t had a chance to cross paths.

Where did you pump the shrimp at in Waldport?
Just east side of the bridge about 80 yards out from the shore, about 2 hours after low tide

Buy a thin wire and straighten it. There you go. Cut a little line hooked thing at the end.
