She lives for her music. Literally practicing several hours a day, every day. That's the life of a musician. You either love music or do something else, because you'll never even "begginner good" if you're not practicing as much as you can. If you want to be good at something keep practicing and going at it no matter how much you have to, how hard and how many other things you're missing out, if you're convinced that that's what you want you either go all in or find something you would go for.

These "wrong emotions", if that's how you want to think of them, exist...A LOT, trust me. It's actually often played upon in teen movies so it comes from somewhere. And ever heard about "hating the kid who raises their hand all the time"? And it's very common that kids, esp. American, dislike structure and rebel against it in various degrees. Which is why foreigners are taking away our jobs at increasing skill levels. but that's another topic. :P
