*Question of the Episode: What first of its kind or only one of its kind exhibits have you seen?:* 1. Dallas Zoo's Giants of the Savanna (U.S. Zoo that mixes elephants and giraffes) 2. Houston Zoo's Galapagos 3. Monterey Bay Aquarium's Kelp Forest (first successful living kelp forest) 4. Cincinnati Zoo's World of the Insect (First U.S. large scale insect house in a zoo) 5. Indianapolis Zoo's Dolphin Dome 6. Georgia Aquarium's SHARKS / Ocean Voyager (Tiger and Whale Sharks in mainland U.S.) 7. Cleveland Zoo's African Elephant Crossing (let's elephant walk in between guests) and I'm sure there's more *To make sure there’s no confusion…* As usual, the next *full length episode* is revealed at the end of this tour, but it will not be the next released video. Instead, you’ll see a relaxing 10 minute stationary video of the aquarium’s Open Sea, all three of the Monterey tours combined as one, along with an intro/rating video to our next destination the week after that. I’ll be filming in San Diego pretty soon, so this schedule is my way of being able to focus on that. *Species List (That I recall)* 1. Bloodbelly Comb Jelly 2. Mauve Stinger 3. Purple Lipped Jelly 4. Crown Jelly 5. Abyssal comb Jelly 6. Common Siphonophore 7. Lobed Comb Jelly 8. Snakehead Eelpout, Deep-sea Carnation Coral, Armored Sea Cucumber, Mushroom Soft Coral, Droopy Sea Pen, Predatory Tunicate 9. Giant Isopod 10. Brisingid Sea Star 11. Pacific Hagfish 12. Red Rope Coral 13. Feather Star, Branched Tree Coral, Bubblegum Coral, Deep Sea Cauliflower Coral, Red Sea Fan, Mushroom Soft Coral 14. Lumpfish 15. Australian Ghost Shark, Japanese Spider Crab, Big Roughy, Fragile Pink Sea Urchin, Japanese Armorhead, Longspine Thornyhead, Red Sea Star, Sablefish, Shortspine Thornyhead 16. When Tropic World first opened, I got to visit the zoo a couple years after it opened and I think at the time it was largest rainforest exhibit in the United States.
Anyways have you been to southwick’s zoo before? If you have not, then it will probably be new to you. BTW if you ever do video tour of southwick’s zoo, do it in summer because that time you will see more animals there.
The “only one of its kind exhibit” I saw was at a small-ish aquarium called “Adventure Aquarium” in Philly. I was blown away by being able to walk over sharks by crossing a rope bridge they have over the tank.
The first one of a kind exhibit i remember outside of Monterey itself was the old Steinhart aquarium at the cal academy of science. Before it's makeover i remember loving their old round-about tank (nostalgic memories 😢).
The first one of its kind exhibit I saw was Giants of the Savanna as it’s the first and only zoo that houses elephants and giraffes in the same habitat. Keep up the great work, Zach
This has been a fantastic tour at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I love seeing the aquatic species that are there. I hope I could visit this Aquarium in the future.
This was so cool! It looks like something right out of "Blue Planet", with creatures I recognize from thier deep sea episode. I never thought there would be an aquarium that would house such animals, given the cold temperatures and high water pressures they live in. Now this just gives all then more reason to visit this aquarium one day. Thanks again for the tour Zack, and see ya in the next one.
I love the Monterey Bay Aquarium! Your tour of this aquarium has been great. But remember that it is a Sea Jelly and not a Jelly Fish. That is something I learned at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Thanks for this three part tour.
The ghost shark is part of a group of cartilaginous fish called chimeras which appeared alongside the first true sharks some time around the Devonian. This group of fish would continue to diversify through out the carboniferous and permian. A few species are even theorized to have survived into the triassic. Unfortunately members like the ghost shark and rat fish are some of the few members of this dynasty still alive today.
The most notable exhibit I have visited was the aquarium in Osaka, Japan, which houses whale sharks and manta rays. I believe it is the single largest aquarium tank (or at least was when I visited almost ten years ago).
1. the beluga tank at mystic aquarium 2. no idea if its the only one of its kind but at the huapicha zoo (lima, peru) there's an absolutely massive multi story aviary! and the uakaris there are cool too
The first of its kind that I have seen is the African savanna at the Bronx Zoo which was the first to have the predators and their prey in the same exhibit.
amazing! I don't think its the first of it's kind, but i had a first at the Mesker Park Zoo in Indiana, where they're breeding hellbenders! I'd never seen them before, but they're so interesting!
For me it has to be Masoala Rainforest in Zurich, Switzerland. A completley indoor exhibit of a madagascar rainforest with free roaming lemurs, birds and chameleons. And it has a conservation project in madagascar too!
I got to see the manta ray at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. I believe it was the only manta ray in captivity in the western hemisphere at the time
The only “one of its kind exhibit” I saw was the Roger Williams Zoo Marco Polos Adventure Trek (now called Himalayan Trek) which animals Marco Polo might have seen
Idk if they have them in other aquariums but we saw whale sharks at the Georgia aquarium. I think they’ve all passed since then but it was pretty incredible.
There are more than whalefall exhibits out there on YT! In the Gulf of Mexico, scientists have conducted alligator & pig falls with deceased animals! And it’s amazing the animals that show up.. from giant isopods and bone worms to the octopi, snailfish, hagfish, and even just the multicolored bacteria that stains the sea floor surrounding the carcass.
Well, I don't live in the US and have been limited to UK zoos, however, that does mean I have been able to visit the London zoo, which was the first zoo ever to have a reptile house.
Part 3 at the Monterey Bay Aquarium! The one & only kind of exhibit that I've seen is the Panda Trek at the San Diego Zoo! Say, Zak, hope you're ready to visit the San Diego Zoo Safari Park very soon! And here are 3 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend.... 1) What new exhibit is the San Francisco Zoo expecting to house their Andean Condor? 2) How many giant pandas from China are coming back to the San Diego Zoo? 3) What year did the San Francisco Zoo originally house blackbucks?
The one-of-a-kind exhibit I've seen was the amazing Chinese giant salamander house at the Prague Zoo; amazing, though sadly absolutely no photography is allowed.
Are there any zoological institutions in the world that exhibit more well-known deep sea creatures like anglerfish, vampire squid, and gulper eels? Is that even possible?

Do you mean in video or in real life? In real life is Houston zoo Galápagos Islands in video probably none

The “only one of its kind exhibit” I saw was at a small-ish aquarium called “Adventure Aquarium” in Philly. I was blown away by being able to walk over sharks by crossing a rope bridge they have over the tank.
Is that even legal?
They're a relatively common attraction these days @frowner_and_co
@@ZooTours ik but my child brain was blown at the time.
I went their. My parents were terrified of the rope bridge. But I loved it
It's a whale shark
The “first of its kind” exhibit that I saw, before the Into the Deep exhibit that is, was the platypus exhibit at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
The first one of a kind exhibit i remember outside of Monterey itself was the old Steinhart aquarium at the cal academy of science. Before it's makeover i remember loving their old round-about tank (nostalgic memories 😢).

Cant believe they made that level from Octodad a real place
I love the Monterey Bay Aquarium! Your tour of this aquarium has been great. But remember that it is a Sea Jelly and not a Jelly Fish. That is something I learned at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Thanks for this three part tour.
The first of its kind exhibit I saw was the Georgia Aquarium's Whaleshark tank.
So glad you covered this incredible place ‼️👍
The first of its kind for me was Giants Of The Savanna at Dallas Zoo

2. no idea if its the only one of its kind but at the huapicha zoo (lima, peru) there's an absolutely massive multi story aviary! and the uakaris there are cool too
The best one of a kind exhibit I’ve experienced was a sea turtle tunnel in the Lisbon aquarium where you walk over the turtles
I’ve gotten to see the only platypus outside of Australia back in January at the SDZSP.
This aquarium is huge
Looking forward to more aquarium tours

I think the only one of it kind is the Newport Aquarium, with their shark rays
I believe they were the first to exhibit them in America, but since then, it seems like nearly every aquarium has them!
The only “one of its kind exhibit” I saw was the Roger Williams Zoo Marco Polos Adventure Trek (now called Himalayan Trek) which animals Marco Polo might have seen

It's Disney's Animal Kingdom for the next episode

The one-of-a-kind exhibit I've seen was the amazing Chinese giant salamander house at the Prague Zoo; amazing, though sadly absolutely no photography is allowed.
