  • Tallinn to host support concert "Ukraine thanks!" on Ukraine’s Independence Day
    On the evening of August 24, the Independence Day of Ukraine, Tallinn will host a magnificent free concert "Ukraine thanks!" on Tallinn’s Freedom Square, featuring Stefan, Elina Nechayeva, the Estonian National Male Choir and Svjata Vatra as well as Ruslana, Ukraine's first winner of the Eurovision Song Contest.
    “The aim of the "Ukraine thanks!" concert is to express gratitude to all the people of Estonia who have supported Ukraine and to celebrate Ukraine's Independence Day together. With this event we wish to show and keep the bond and trust between the Estonian and Ukrainian communities," said Ruslan Trochynskyi, the organiser of the concert. "A few days after Estonia celebrates the Independence Restoration Day, Ukraine will celebrate the same anniversary. Unfortunately, today Ukraine has to fight for its freedom in war and the mental and material support of the Estonian state and people continues to be important and much appreciated," he added. The concert will also raise funds for projects to ensure the safety of children living near the frontline of the war in Ukraine, namely the construction of a bomb shelters for the schools in the cities of Eastern Ukraine.
    According to Maksym Kononenko, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Estonia, Estonia and all other supporters of Ukraine have played a crucial role in helping Ukraine resist Russian aggression and maintain its independence. ”I invitate everyone to join us at the concert on the Freedom Square in Tallinn - a symbolic location where we can celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day together. On behalf of the Ukrainian state and our citizens, I express profound gratitude to Estonia for understanding, international support, military assistance and humanitarian aid and for providing refuge to Ukrainians who sought safety here. This humane gesture will forever be cherished by Ukrainians,” stated Maksym Kononenko.
    The first part of the concert will feature the Tallinn Police Orchestra, conducted by Siim Aimla, and soloists Elina Nechayeva, Stefan, Tanel Padar, Silver Sepp, Ruslan Trochynskyi, Rute Trochynskyi and the Svjata Vatra ensemble. The second part of the concert will feature the Ukrainian-Canadian trio Balaklava Blues and Ruslana who is known to Estonians as the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest.
    The concert’s powerful finale will feature the Estonian National Male Choir and all the above-mentioned artists performing the song "Oi u luzi chervona kalyna” that has become the anthem of Ukraine's fight for freedom.
    "Ukraine thanks!" concert will take place on Thursday, 24th of August at 19-21 on Tallinn’s Freedom Square and it is free of charge for everyone. There will be a live broadcast of the concert by ETV (Estonian National Television).
    The concert is made possible by the support of the City of Tallinn, the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Defense, KPMS, Nordic Hotel Forum, Go Hotel Shnelli, Meeskond, RGB, Showtech, Forus Taxi and Delfi Meedia.
