Shepard:Garrus! HELP ME OUT HERE! THEY'RE TEARING EACH OTHER APART! Garrus: *Scratches head* Uh can this wait a moment? I'm in the middle of calibrations
I believe the quote is "the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant, next to the power of the force." So what 147352 said is true, from a certain point of view.
Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerer's ways, Lord Javik. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you slay a Reaper. Nor has it given given you clairvoyance enough to find the Crucible's hidden compo--- ackghhh. *chokes*
I know right, 'cause it's just so unreasonable of her to even say that. But he let go of his ego in that moment and decided to give her an inspiring speech instead. He has his paragon moments I guess, although it's with a renegade intention.
@@ThePlatineist I guess this was also thanks to the Citadel when he was like "For many there is no hope. In our cycle trilions have died..." and Shepard told him that it wont work out. I think Javik simply understands when a soldier becomes useless and when to tell the truth. Here he saw that Liara was completely unreasonable so he gave her something to get rid of her.
Liara: I have a name. It's Liara T'Soni. And I'd appreciate you using it from now on! Javik: And I have a name. It's Prothy the Prothean! You all must use it except for your Joker pilot. He goes out the airlock if he uses it!
I really love how Liara was relatively shy and unsure in ME 1, but gained confidence (also through Shepard, I'd say) and has become a total badass in ME 3. :D I am just still mourning for the blue children ...
Those blue children may have a chance to exist. Replying to a 10 year old comment lol. I hope this reaches you and that you still like the franchise because duuuuude WE'RE GETTING ME4 BOIIII
@@meci6625 Hello fellow fan, I am indeed still here all those years later! :D I hope BioWare will return to old form and deliver on our hopes for ME4, but it's not gonna be easy. So I'd say careful optimism. :)
@@meci6625 @Wasted Potential This may have been one of the most beautiful and wholesome comment-conversations i ever saw under Mass Effect Videos. It made me tear up a bit haha I wish you both the best from my heart and a beautiful future!!
Shiro Nogitsune Whether you think it's stupid or not, its true. When billions are dying in a giant war of extermination, we can't be holding the feelings of individuals over the facts. I'm not saying to completely disregard peoples' emotions, because in the end a motivated people with good morale wins wars just as much as the best strategies. But when all is said and done, you can't let people who are emotionally compromised hinder the mission and, in turn, the war effort. Simple as that.
DeadlyReconGamer Firstly, what does "SJWs" have to do with anything? Secondly, no. Truth =/= offensive, if you can't put something forward in a tactful manner, then that speaks more about you than the "truth". There's always time to be graceful about what's being said. Besides which that's not what Liara was angry about, nor what Javik was talking about.
This outburst was there for a reason. A major part of Liara's character is her stiff upper lip; the fact that she bites her tongue through just about everything, usually with the trademark bit of indignation. Her mother's death, Shepard dumping her (if that happens), even rejecting her gift before the final mission. During and after Thessia is the one time she becomes absolutely vulnerable, and this scene is the only time she ever yells in the entire series. It's important as a character device
He's a warlord from an ancient, hyper-advanced species experienced in fighting Reapers. He is the representation of the vengeance of a dead race. In addition, he is ruthless and fearless. That answer your question?
It's not like BioWare to go in the past with their games, but there is an upcoming Mass Effect movie for 2019 and nobody still knows anyrhing about the plot... Many believe it will be set either during the Prothean fight against the Reapers of the First Contact War... Either option works for me... ;)
@@durakeno5575 | I said that in 2016, and there were rumors that they were working on a movie to be released in 2019. I guess they weren't legit, but damn, it would be good if they did a movie about the first contact war or elysium.
I seriously hate how hard your character takes the fall of Thessia. The Asari had basically said screw you rest of the galaxy, keep fighting and dying against the reapers while we sit back and do nothing but prepare our own boarders for when the reapers are done killing all of you and come after us (look how that turned out lol). Not only that but they hid and kept to themselves a Prothean beacon that could of helped against the reapers which is 10x worse for them to do than another species considering they created the law that species had to share all Prothean technology they find. And finally the thing that makes it even more ridiculous that they take the fall of Thessia so hard is whats the fall of Thessia to the player character in comparison to... Decimation of Earth (Your home world) Decimation of Palaven (Turian home world) Attack on Irune (Volus home world) Attack on Dekuuna (Elcor home world) Attack on Tuchanka (Krogan home world) Attack on Kahje (Hanar home world) Destruction of the Batarians as a species
I recon that this information will go out to the public after the war, and the asari will feel the heat from everyone. They will lose all respect, all power. I bet the turians and humans will be the dominant forces after the war. Also in my last playthrough i played like a pro human politician, manipulated wreav into an alliance, also got the salarians, took geth over the quarians, and in the end got rid of the geth also. So in my ending there is only humanity, turians and salarians as the true powers. As javik said the strong prevailed and the weak perished.
I feel like it was more losing the data than losing Thessia (so that does suck). You had the end of the war at your fingertips and you potentially lost it forever. It would be a pretty significant blow.
SonicTrooper22 Well, even though Aria is an Asari she always lived as an outlaw so she doesn't think as an asari (same case as Bray,he's batarian but as a outlaw he didn't care at all about Shepard destroying the batarian colony in Arrival) .
+SonicTrooper22 Aria was the most helpful Asari? Did you forget the very first mission on Mars where Liara discovered the ONLY way to defeat the freaking Reapers? Or when she rescued Shep's corpse? Or that she and her agents aided the war effort/Crucible project? Or when she helped Shep with the Prothean visions and discovers Ilos?
This would be like a devout Christian that had spent her whole life studying religious dogma finding out that Jesus, Moses, Abraham and other biblical characters were not divine messengers from God, but instead actually beings from another world sent down to Earth to cultivate humans into potential slaves and soldiers.
I believe the word they use in game is interventionism where aliens influence the outcome of a society's history and course in secret they see those aliens as gods and shape the gods to resemble them . Just like the Asari did. Maybe the ones that came to be known as Buddha was just one of the aliens that was overweight and was tasked with guiding human society in the area known as Asia thus why they would morph him to be a rather pudgy happy human.
UK Ball Technically I believe the name Prothean was a twist by the developers on Prometheus which in Greek mythos was the creator of mankind which he molded out of clay and found to be fragile so he gave them the gift of fire to harden them and make them stronger which angered Zeus who did some rather horrible shit to him.
+Andy B Yeah, and pretty sure Liara knew it herself, but you ever gotten so pissed off at someone that even though you know they'd destroy you in seconds, you just want to explode with rage and attack? Really felt that here with Liara
But she wasn't trained all her life for combat. Javik was, and he's physically stronger than most of the Normandy crew. That along with the fact that he is also a natural biotic, I'm pretty sure he can just shrug off anything Liara throws at him.
Javik exemplifies how to give a motivational speech to an intelligent person. It is easy to get emotional people all riled up by shouting war cries and hollering about vengeance and victory. But a smart person won't be swayed like that, you need to hit them with the reality of their situation, with the truth. Once it has sunk in, then give them hope that the outcome is not yet decided, and they still have the power to alter their circumstances.
Fantastic scene writing: this could be a clip from a movie. Disappointed I had to pay extra money for a character who seems so crucial to the tone of the game though. Javik was an ME2 quality character!
Yo check out that microexpression on Liara's face at 1:16! You can see how conflicted she is; she knows Javik means well to give her the pep talk, but she's still not really buying it. Now THAT is animation.
The actress playing Liara is named Ali Hillis. Her other noteable video game roles are Dr. Ariel Hansen in Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty, and Lightning in Final Fantasy XIII.
Actually, looking back on this I don't get why Javik should apologize. Earth got hit bad, where were the Asari? The Turians didn't help either, but at least were constructive about it. It was an impossible request: 'get the Krogan to help us and we will help you' but it was a logical one. The Salarian dalatrass was annoying as well, but the Salarian Councilor and actual military and STG were being helpful, Quarians were stupid to go to war, although the importance of a homeworld was too pressing, so I understand the desperation, and as soon as that was out of the way they helped. After all these allies join the team, that's when the Asari Councilor decides to be helpful? And then get all dramatic when it fails? Thessia falling to the Reapers is because of their 'patience', aka 'wait and see-strategy' as they cowered in fear, instead of helping an obvious best chance. So yeah, this defeat is on the Asari mainly. They should've shared the knowledge of the Prothean VI earlier. Liara being grieved over the loss of her homeworld doesn't change that. In hindsight, I would be more sympathetic if she were angry at the Asari leadership instead of Javik.
He meant Javik should apologize for being insensitive. Yes, it was the asari's own fault for hiding the beacon, but it's still a fresh wound for Liara. Javik may have a valid point, but he's also being a jerk about it.
@@yehiahuzayyin7972 i mean, shepard would get angry too if some bitches said to him the day after earth attack "Well, humanity should have listened to you since the beginning, so, this reaper attack is on them !" That may be true, but shooting at the ambulance never helped anyone.
@@yehiahuzayyin7972 Is he though. It's Liara who went to him. She knows he is a tactless jerk. Actually, Javik is just fighting for vengeance. He has nothing to defend at least Liara still has her people. Going to Javik to throw a tantrum when he has nothing is the most tactless here.
Damn you Bioware for not making Javik a romance option. I'll have to correct this. Kneel before Javik! Emperor of the Hanar, supreme commander of the Drell army. With Catalyst-Hybrid Super Shepard and the Sheapers no one will stand in our way!
Actually no. You can sleep with Javik once at the citadel party if you haven't romanced anyone before that point, but that's not the same as being a romance option.
There were lots of DLC that shouldn't have been DLC such as Lair of the Shadow Broker and ESPECIALLY Arrival since the beginning of ME3 is Shep on trial for killing 300k+ Batarians (which is also referenced throughout ME#3). Without that DLC, there is no reasonable context as to why Shep should be on trial.
Cherry Pauper From my understanding, if you don't do Arrival, Shepherd's hearing is about his ties to Cerberus. Another thing that annoys me. It should have been a Trial. That would have been a fantastic recap and role-playing intro to ME3.
Darth Lazurus yep. When I heard that’s all the dlc does (although looking at war assets, looks like the alliance took a big hit but oh well.) I skipped it entirely. I’ve never seen the events of arrival to this point, but it just sounds pretty pointless since all it does it make Shepard a target for Batarians.
Norinia arrival is basically; Doctor imprisoned, indoctrinated by reaper mind rape, drugs Shepard, Shepard rushes to destroy relay with asteroid before reapers get there and use the relay to go everywhere. Kills the entire colony of batarians.
One of the few people that like Javik's character, I just love how brutally honest he is. I mean you're facing down the Reapers which have wiped out the galaxy multiple times and people want to worry about feelings. Also lol @ Liara thinking she'd take Javik in a biotic fight and at Shepard thinking she could finish it.
In the last bit where Shepard asks Javik if he meant anything he said, I agree with Javik: If a person does something good for another without a catch nor asking anything in return, it doesn't matter why they do it. It still shows they care enough to actually do something, unlike doing nothing.
I think the problem with Liara in this particular scene is that she still romanticizes the whole idea about the Prothean. "You're supposed to have all the answers" well she knew that the Reapers destroyed the Prothean, so this is just her emotional state and fantasy talking here.
Javik: "The loss of a planet is insignificant next..." Me: Oh, I know how this goes, '..next to the power of the Force', right? Javik:...What? Me: Oh. Nevermind...
You know, the Asari are actually perfect for surviving the reapers, stash 20 or so turvess or some other pre space flight world and even if we lost they could pretty well just wait it out, as it’s implied that since we’re not engaging the reapers as a single monolithic entity making use of an entrenched system to system holding doctrine, this cycle will be shorter than that if the protheans. Their longevity and ability to produce Asari offspring with almost anything almost guaranteed the survival of their species. Javik’s right, literally, so long as one Asari remains when the reapers retreat for this cycle, they’ve won.
"The loss of a planet is insignificant next to the loss of a galaxy." Sorry Javik, all I heard was... "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."
Fektthis yeah, except thats the exact reason he doesnt say that. Because when youre in that club, you dont wish it on anyone. Except Javik, who is 50.000 years past empathy.
Earth was in the same shape as Thessia at this point. Worse, in fact, as it was attacked at the very beginning of the game and Thessia was towards the end. Javik's entire species was eradicated/assimilated for thousands of years and his culture demolished. Everything she says about Thessia's fall can be directly related to what Shepard already experienced in the first 20 minutes of the game.
Okay one, Earth isn’t destroyed. You can say what you want about its condition and whether it’s worse but at least he has an opportunity to take it back. The Reapers didn’t even give Liara and her people that luxury. That small glimmer of hope that one day she and her people will take it back from the Reapers. It’s just gone. Second, Shepard has had time to process what’s going on in Earth, Liara just watched it happen right before this conversation. She’s still early into grief. Actually it’s pretty evident that she went from denial as she calls what Jarik said about her goddess being just Protheans lies to anger with her outburst. Clear signs of grieving. She’s not playing the victim game here. This isn’t a game of “what about”. Liara has every right to grieve. Especially when the person she’s levying all that grieve and anger one has been a pompous, arrogant and prideful jerk then entire time.
Its funny cus I constantly think of Javik as a Darth Vader-eque kind of character. Always maintaining control, manipulating his allies' emotions to get ahead, killing all in his way for victory, sacrificing for the good if the empire, seeing everyone around him as bugs or animals that need to be crushed or directed, or his total lack of concern for all around him as if they were beneath his notice. I love his character. The fact that he's the avatar of Vengeance just hit it home. And 2:11 is a perfect reference to who he reminds me of.
I love Liara, but I hate how she completely forgot that Sheppard and the Turians a worse decimation of their homeworlds than the Asari did. And javik was right. The Asari got arrogant and tried to hide this tech and knowledge that would've saved the Galaxy from the reapers, keeping it for their own power.
Wanted to add this to clarify: of course, there are also people that just don't like the character. Not everyone has to like him or any other character. But some people have the strangest, seemingly most ignorant reasons for disliking him. I don't like Zaeed, but that doesn't mean I can't think Zaeed has a point now and then, or that Zaeed might be right sometimes.
Javik is such a great character, well worth the money, if you get him the get him as early in the game as possible and always use him, absolutely great dialog...
For all the people hating on Liara for this, her loss of composure during the death of her homeworld is a character exposée necessary as a foil to her behavior at all other times when she keeps a stiff upper lip. And this is the one time she yells. In the entire series.
To those people hating on Liara for acting up in this scene, she just lost her homeworld and probably countless friends. Different people handle grief differently. Sometimes, a person will lash out more than she normally would.
SoloraGoldsun I mean, everyone in your squad felt pretty devastated whenever their respective homeworld was lost. James turned into the living embodiment of survivor's guilt, with that stunt on Mars, Garrus ends up with depression, and if he were human he would have succumbed to it, Liara, well, here you have, Wrex straight up attacks you for the genophage, Tali commits suicide and Javik PLANS on it after all's said and tone. So yeah, I' d say the normandy needs a psychologist
It's not about her having it worse. Keep in mind she just discovered that her species had held the key that could've prevented this whole thing, and Javik rubbed it in at the worst time. it's just a defense mechanism in the heat of the moment, not entirely unjustified considering all that just recently happened, and so suddenly too.
Liara's fury is like devout christians find out that Jesus isn't god like they would expect, but just a mere mortal who had given a duty by God to be His messenger
She is just a girlie girl . Kind of tired of the whole Amazonian huntress cliche` and girls that fart and spit like the rest of us. She was not as good a stripper as Tali though. I am talking about shields and barriers of course.
gwynedd1 Am I the only one who thinks that Liara is one of the more realistic characters in ME series? Most female characters in ME fit a specific stereotype (Jack the trigger happy psycho with a Freudian excuse,Miranda the "cheerleader" archetype,Ashley the gossip girl who competes against everyone). Besides this scene is one of the realistic moments in ME series, given that her home world was taken over by the Reapers and Javik having his usual uncaring attitude , most people would lash out like this.
I guess it depends on how you look at it. One may also interpret them to be more idealistic whereas , even though Liara started out gushing over the Protheans , actually turned out to be quite a pragmatist. I thought she was tough in the traditional female way, enduring and opportunistic. For a man like Shepard , a shadow broker for a girl friend was a royal alliance worth having.
+IGameChangerI I do like Liara's voice acting as a whole (although it was poopy garbage is ME1) but I will concede this this scene is one of her best. It doesn't seem like a forced angry fit, it's a well performed guttural rage. Her home destroyed, her history shattered, and the one thing she spent her whole life studying in hopes of finding answers on how to save lives is just a huge asshole who doesn't know anything other than how to be an huge asshole. She seems like she's ready to burst, emotionally. But not without cappin' a bitch first. A+, 10/10
Idk why but when javik says I beleive you would and liara looks at shepard that shit makes me fucking love how in depth these characters are she gave shepard a look like damn they really counted on our kinds to finish what the proteins started
+Undead _Sparkz Exactly! Two years before Liara was on a dig site and without much biotic training. She may have upped her game, but Javik is superior to any Asari commando, let alone an angry archaeologist who was just learning to use her ability.
The funny thing is that everything he said about the Asari is true. Even if in that moment he was saying these things only to get Liara focused on fighting. I wonder what would have happened if the Protheans had chosen us instead of the Asari.
Really Liara, you're gonna flex biotics on a prothean, the people who engineered that affinity into you? Anyhoo, I like Javik. He's very blunt, but you have to expect that from someone who knew only war for his whole life. He gradually learns to be a more considerate person without losing his sense of humor, and in the end, he wants to save the galaxy and the people in it as much as anyone. He's also very honest and straightforward, you'll always know where he stands regardless if you like him or not.
I mean, no one ever does anything rational when they lash out. You've never done anything stupid in your life when you're just so filled with negative emotions that they just come spilling out?
Bioware missed a great opportunity to reintroduce the collectors in the Leviathan DLC when they released it back in the day. The description of the collector biotic character from multiplayer said that the leviathans saved some of them from when their connection to Harbinger was severed. It would have made for some great exchange if you brought Javik to that mission. Probably would have rekindled some hope for the protheans being reborn in some form.
Liara obviously in a very emotional state but she is completely in the wrong, and she is in fact the one being extremely insensitive. What happened to her planet is all that Javik has ever known. Everybody he has ever known is long dead, his species is extinct...Most of the decisions he's ever made has been sacrifice more lives/worlds/species to the reapers. She think he has time to care about her feelings? Finding a way to defeat the reapers is the only thing he is alive to do, and he has been very clear about it.
Obviously i felt bad for liara but i never felt bad for the asari, BioWare totally misunderstood how players would take thessia falling. The most arrogant species that refused to listen to Shepard got what was coming to them ultimately. If it were any non-council race I’d probably feel different. But the turians, salarians and asari i could not feel the slightest bit sad for.
Darío Gómez lol😂😂😂 'kill javik in 1 second ' javik is more experienced in combat and has been trained to be a soldier all his life. Maybe if liara was older and more experienced she will stand a chance but if she fought javik now.... no chance she will still be alive unless shepard saves her lol.
Based off the comments enjoying how Liara's pissed I need to say a few things: 1. Liara is not mad because Javik debunked her race's ancient religion. She's not a follower of it and few are. She's mad because she feels like they were treated as experiments and because she realises their advancement is due to alien intervention and not technological progress. She's also upset because she thought that the Protheans would be the answer to everything. She admired them so much and thought they would answer the question on the reapers but instead the one Prothean she meets just tells her how unadvanced her race were and needed help like little babies. When her home world is destroyed she blames Javik because of how he was back on the planet and because he's not what she had hoped for. 2. People say she's getting what she deserves because her race are bunch of smug assholes. What a bunch of racists you are. Just because a lot or most Asari are smug and see themselves as superior does not mean Liara is one of them. I for one don't like the Asari in general but I like Liara. She's doesn't deserve the crap she gets here like other Asaris might. 3. Some of you think that she has no right to be upset because of the destruction of her home world because the same has happened to Shepard and Javik. That's like saying you don't get to be sad for having lost your son because I already have and the guy over there lost his whole family. Liara has a right to be upset at what happened to her planet just like anyone else has. And it's not like she doesn't recognise what has happened to Earth. Early on she comments on the state of the Earth and asks if Shepard is okay, so it's not like she's selfish only caring for herself.
Sir Nils Olav 1. She asked for the truth and Javik gave it too her. Not his fault that she can't handle it. Plus if the Protheans really did have the answers to everything then they wouldn't be nearly extinct. 2. To me Samara, PeeBee, and Aria are more interesting than Liara. 3. We never said that she shouldn't be upset. We're just saying that she shouldn't let it cloud her judgement.
Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku None of the responses you gave really addressed the points I made. The first one was aimed at people who compared this to someone claiming the miracles in the Christian faith was all due to a bunch of aliens. I pointed out that this was an ancient faith which few still believed. The second one was directed at people in the comments enjoying her meltdown because the Asari people were always looking at themselves as superior to others, but Javik destroys this idea. Liara doesn't look at herself that way, but the comments treated her like that. If you find other characters more interesting I'm not going to tell you otherwise and it wasn't my intention. On the third point: Yes, there were people who said she didin't get to be upset because it happened to Shepard. My comment was not aimed at you but some of the ones with highest thumbs in the comment section.
Sir Nils Olav - I am pissed off on Liara because (that's going to be tyrade): 1) She was forced on that mission - her only purpose was to be thrown by her stupidity in combat situations to knock down second companion so Kai Leng may steal Vendetta easier. Just like on Eden Prime she is completly useless. She is forced to various situations, often replacing romance options. Also she is in that matter a pain in ass to reject. Sorry I told her once, I told her twice, why do I need tell her third time that I am NOT lesbian ? 2) She is SHADOW BROKER yet she didn't KNOW about Thessia's Atheme Beacon. How !? The real Shadow Broker for sure had it ! They knew everything ! And such hushed secret about asari's politicians wouldn't be able to be skipped for sure ! Neither she uses that job to give you quests or tell you secrets like where is Cerberus base ? Or any indication for Leviathans ? Mars Archives and Crucible - it should be the first thing she as archeologist and Shadow Broker would found after dlc ! Not to mention I am sure as hell Benezia would know about beacon on Thessia. She was very important Matriarch for Thessia ! (but BioWare won't remember ME 1 now would they ?) 3) When finally she decides to USE her Shadow Broker status she uses it as a bitch slap for really meaningless petty replies. Like Jack calling her per 'Blue' and then Liara tells her about her original name thus bringing up with no consideration traumatizing memories to Jack about her childhood - the thing taken away so she would be tortured by Cerberus researchers ? Good work Liara. The same goes to ashaming potentially romanced Tali about her tries to be more 'suitable' for male Shepard. I think she did that even when not romanced before. But hey Tali was the one who was making fun out of Shepard and Garrus relationship over Chloe Michel chocolates for Garrus, so I guess it's right. 4) Liara is not developing after ME 1 at all. When she was made Shadow Broker I thought she will stop being naive. But nope, she still is ! She believes that something called Empire was built upon "Power of friendship !" like it was some MLP story ... -.- When met with Javik she again bumps into 'I have no idea how to behave or what others may feel' - she gives him ZERO time and starts bringing up topics obviously painfull for him. Topics about his cycle ! You know to this one guy who is literally the last of his entire cycle of different species who tells you that one of his earliest memories was seeing Reapers invading his HOME PLANET. And then the shit with Thessia ... In ME 2 one would thought that she will jump on you due to how she obviously was obssesed still over Shepard that she really recovered their body for Cerberus to resurrect. But nope ! Liara is only "Oh hi Shepard, sorry I am busy, can you do this errand for me and begone ?" And then the dlc happened and another rewrite of her. Is she with Feros in ME 3 if not romanced ? Nope. Is she in Shadow Broker base being able as she said 'Start a war or end it by one click' ? Nope. Does she uses Shadow Broker resources for war with Reapers ? Barely if any really. 5) The Thessia - Liara is responsible for: demanding to go to Temple with no info EVEN if she is SHADOW BROKER; not being able to control her feelings over sight which she SHOULD have been expecting - she saw Palaven for sake !; not being able to handle combat (anybody saw an asari commando allowing themselves to get thrown like a lifeless doll onto someone ? No ? I don't think so.) thus knocking out second companion = easy steal for Kai Leng. 6) After everything we learned how Asari hide important data and screwing over not only Protheans who kept hope in them but also entire this cycle she is going to ... challange Javik. A prothean. Person whose people knowledge her people wasted despite knowing the stake. Person who as we know already knew the horror of Reaper War never defeated. A person who is known from telling the TRUTH (!!!) no matter how bad it sounds to second person. So to summarize - She doesn't do anything really entire game - especially not Shadow Broker job, she allowed Kai Leng for easy win, she is pointlessly forced multiple times on player (Eden Prime, Thessia) for no reason, she is thinking she is the only one entitled to cry over her homeworld and race while everybody from Shepard through Garrus to Javik should shut up and allow her cry and raging out on random people/objects, she also is always shipped to Shepard as potential romance option if they made absolutely clear before that they are NOT interested in her too. She does: help my enemy (Kai Leng), doesn't do her job well (Thessia Beacon and her being SHADOW BROKER !!!), then tries to overcry anyone else who has reasons to grief over loss of planet (Garrus, Shepard, Javik), and finally she goes there to actually HURT another teammate just because he is not hiding how angry he is about revelation what her goverment did with gifts of his species. I wondered where the fuck was the option to dismiss Liara from Normandy. She clearly shown she is unsuitable for mission and indeed is more likely to jeopardize entire mission by her unstable mind like attacking fellow crew members. She is NOT adult - she is just small kid with moodies now !
cracmar03 Tbh if it wasn't for her then Shepard would be dead because she's the one who delivered his body to Cerberus. Every other point I agree with you.
+Super Saiyan - Nobody said that I agree with ME 2 beggining either. I mean Shepard should NOT exist. They would fry when entering the planet atmosphere ! That's the only fact that keeps me from killing Liara as soon as she starts this whole post-Thessia agrue. Is this fact that she brought Shepard to life ... not that she showed that she CARES though ... because obviously she didn't. Not on Illium, barely on dlc, and NOT in ME 3 like ... at all. You know that's funny ... the only person besides Garrus who cared about Shepard was Javik. That's it. And I played this game like 10 times. I would love if she wouldn't act THAT BAD. I mean entire ME 2 should have theme "I am truly Shepard ?" but Liara ... she doesn't care about it ! At all ! If Virmire Survivor doubts on Horizon of what happened to you meaning "Why are you helping Cerberus ?! That's so NOT you !" at least you may doubt in being real Shepard. But Liara ? She just is like gentle showing you middle finger. Dextro may provide some info about you in ME 2 but if someone expect that from suppose Shepfangirl nr. 1 then they lost - she says nothing like this. None concern. PS: I did mentioned ressurection being only thanks to her in tyrade. It was in point 4 about Liara in ME 2.
Javik is actually the only person in the galaxy to understand the universe. He has the most experience and his culture had the highest cultural standards. There is a reason why they where way more advanced than the cultures of this cycle and the same reason goes for why they ruled above all in their cycle. Saying the truth is not treating people like shit.
noone did, i myself frankly dislike most Asari because of their lack of use in Mass effect, ME 1:Asari Councilor(and the other councilors for that matter) are damn near useless, they wouldn't believe me even if i dropped a dead reaper in their lawn and in ME 3 turns out they were withholding crucial information for the battle against the reapers, their councilor just sat on her ass constantly denying me the help i require with the Crucible and War effort, i mean i know the Dalatrass wanted me to "fake" the cure for the Genophage but the Genophage is just a little added protection to prevent overpopulation of the Krogan Race, it didn't outright sterilize them and cuz krogan extinction, i'm just glad the Turian councilor decided to help me, sure he asked me a favor but still he did provide me with Turians, and Garrus(i say it like that cuz Garrus is the only Turian i can rely on when it comes to Calibrations)
Meh i luv them just for a fact they are good stripper lmao. But seriously tho after that i expect after the reaper dead the asari didnt have the right to become a council
@@Adrfhrhg They are genderless dumbfuck and even then, Krogans have them beat in strength, Turians have them beat in martial prowess and military might, salarians have them beat in intelligence and humans have them beat in ingenuity. Not to mention Javik alone has any asari beat in every category.
As much as i love Liara even as a best friend never romancing her after coming back from the Marine Corps.... imagine if we woke up a Templar and Saracen Knight.... I agree more with Javik....Liara is a doll and smart but she IS NOT a Soldier Marine or Warrior.... Javik really is the avatar of every warrior losing everything....its like Saiyan logic....use the pain...of LOSS! And you will grow stronger. I hope in the next Mass Effect game that the Asari cover up of Prothean technology and insights will finally bring the Asari to justice....because as beautiful....they ARE NOT INNOCENT!
Yeah I’ve always saw the asari as evil ever since That 🤬 nasanna Legalizing slavery on Illium Imprisoning a Quarian preventing her from completing her pilgrimage Rana thenoptis not making the best out of the 2nd chance given to her That 🤬 Elnora tricking me with the renegade interrupt Honestly the only asari I actually respect are Samara, Aria, and Shiala
Why? Because he's being (meanie)honest to Liara? She wanted to know something, she got the answer and got mad. Then blamed his species everything I don't get all the hate Javik gets, seriously. I like both of them, and Liara is even my Shepard's LI, but I too think she was being a twat here. And the more I see people call him an 'asshole', the more I notice that the majority hasn't bothered to look at him past this argument. He changes during ME3. More than most characters, IMO.
Javik did nothing wrong in this scene, but I absolutely understand the hate he gets. He's a rude, slaver prick who still refuses to see his peers as equals. The prothean empire sounds like the worst aspects of Rome, and despite him saying the asari were great and had potential, he _still_ views them as savage animals. Which is it, Javik? Furthermore, he's a contrarian who has a problem with literally everything, just because he can. And to my knowledge, this is _not_ a defence/coping mechanism. He's just shitty.
@@Bacxaber nah he’s rude but he’s right he just doesn’t gaf about your feelings his culture has been dead for 50,000 years and the new one was supposed to stop it (keep in mind everything they did was dedicated to stopping the reapers he even says entire civilizations were judged by their ability to help stop the reapers or not) from happening again and this time it’s even worse
It's what she basically said. Also, she didn't seem to be angry at herself but angry at Jarvik for revealing the truth. Also a side-note,Earth is burning and Palavan is under siege, but you don't see Shepard and Garrus crying about that, they just kicking ass and taking names.
We had to loose Mordin to save the Krogan...he was one of the finest assets to any team he joined...Yes, Liara is no longer that 110 year old child we found on a stasis field in a forgotten planet. Only experience can make you grow the way she did. Killing Sovereign, becoming the Shadow Broker, finding out about the crucible on Mars...I wonder how many Asari have accomplished so much before even reaching 200 years old...
I'd actually argue otherwise... Javik's seen much more death than all of the normandy combined... and alls he done is tell the truth. Liara's a wonderful character but she's clinging onto the idea her race was severely above all others. Even with javik's scarring experiences and life, he still had a lot of comforting words to say. I totally respect Javik.
No? She values her race just like shepard values humanity and Garry's would value his race considering her planet was basically genocided she's pretty justifiably upset
As much as I like Liara, that would have been a one-way ticket into the Asari afterlife if she decided to let loose on Javik. A biotically gifted soldier, bred for war in the middle of a galaxy wide genocidal event who knows nothing besides combat and warfare... vs An archaeologist who has seen combat for about four or five years, give or take. Not the greatest of ideas.
If you dont do the Shafow broker DLC Liara still becomes the Shadow Broker without your help, meaning she is powerful enough to kill the Shadow Broker and an Asari Spectre solo. I like Liara's odds.
@@anthonyrodriguez8788 Assumptions. If we're going off assumptions, we can assume she hired mercs to help her, which she doesn't need if she's with Shepard. We, Commander SHEPARD don't usually take on missions alone. Especially against the damned Shadow Broker of all people. You think Liara would be stupid enough to do it solo? I doubt it, she's a smart girl.
Agreed. I actually think that Liara is 'the asshole' here. Sure, Javik, on his own did not work towards placating her, but he has no obligation to. Even then, after the initial outburst, he tries to make her feel better. Sometimes, it feels like all the Javik haters either: 1) didn't play him past earliest points of the game 2) are mad Liara fans who couldn't stand him being a "meanie" to her. (even if it was just honesty)
Allow Javik to touch the echo shard later on, or look up the vid on youtube. It'll reveal why he seems so cold and standoffish to every one on the team. Javik isn't a douche --- he's just had all the 'humanity' crushed out of him by his war experiences. Javik is summed up perfectly by his final line of dialogue during the echo shard reveal: "It was the day I understood: War is atrocity committed in the name of survival. It is a lesson I wish I had never learned."
Yea it kinda does tbh. I mean they are both biologically compatible just as Shepard is. Despite not being the same species it doesn't really matter that much when they have genetics that work like that.
In my opinion, they land on that planet like they are finally seeing once and for all "peace". As for the "Shepard alive" scene... it takes place before the "extended cut" epilogue and after the Normandy leaves the planet.
No, not at all. I can't imagine anything sexual between these two. Liara is just an naive annoying kid who talks too much and has naive expectations. Javik HATES naive stupid people. He is past any tolerance to them since last cycle. He only encrouages her so she may fight against Reapers. He cares about her as much as he cares about Tali. He was officer of Prothean Empire - it's his duty to keep soldiers alive, keep crew members alive. And now his fellow crew members are Tali and Liara. Of course he won't tell them straight how he hates them. He will be annoyed but he must hide his emotions. Just like he hides his own pain and sorrow, people should never know from officer what is the real state of their mind. He won't bullshit anybody if the matter is obvious - like asari fucking up entire galaxy. There is no chemistry between them. He may have joked about asaris but that was general during party. It was just him laughing at fact that Liara is blessed with ignorance to not know what possibly could happened on Thessia long ago between Prothean researchers and asaris. It didn't pointed out any of his romantic interest to her - not to mention him being overall tired and annoyed by Liara 24 h per day like when he wished that asari would never learn how to talk.
I've never liked the Asari and don't like having liara as a forced companion. They're a pompous self righteous and ignorant species who thinks they're better than everyone. I relish every opportunity to remove one.
just imagine what would happen to them after the war after the truth is out which will happen . don't even try to give me that every one who knew the truth died bullishit .. dear future commnter
The Normandy crew survived with the truth. Not sure if they would have revealed the truth as it would have resulted in another war for Prothean technology.
Well you have that type of people in all the races in Mass Effect. Batarians with Balak who was a racist bastard willing to ruin a entire planet to kill humans. Salarians you had the administrator on Noveria who insults you depending on Shepard's background and sees talking to you as a waste of his time. Asari you have Suza that Asari Traynor beats at a game in the Citadel DLC that is arrogant as hell. Turians you had Saren was a rather bit offensive towards humans. Humans have two pro human groups Cerberus and Tera Firma that both hated aliens and believe in human superiority. Quarians you have Admiral Zen that is a stuck up bitch and this shows in Zal Koris and Han'Gerrel which don't see Shepard as a good soldier. Can't judge a entire species by the acts of a few of them.
thank you for posting the vid with its outcomes, its good to be able to see this on youtube when this should have been in the game already without having to pay for content that should have already been in the game.

I believe the quote is "the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant, next to the power of the force." So what 147352 said is true, from a certain point of view.
A certain point of view??
FROM MY POINT OF VIEW 147352 IS EVIL!!!!!
Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerer's ways, Lord Javik. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you slay a Reaper. Nor has it given given you clairvoyance enough to find the Crucible's hidden compo--- ackghhh. *chokes*
"How could you not stop this from happening?!"
I expected Javik to say, "We tried, and we lost."
"Despair is the enemies greatest weapon.... do not let them wield it..."
This game had some damn fine wisdom.
Javik might just be the greatest bullshitter in the history of video game characters.

I kinda agree with javik. he's just saying the truth.
Yeah, but that's no excuse for a lack of tact.
Actually, it's a perfectly good excuse. No time for any SJW crap during a galactic war of extinction.
DeadlyReconGamer That is one of the stupidest comments I've read all week.
SHOUT OUT TO SMEAG0LLUM
I don't know why but you made me laugh so hard.
Why would you ever reject her gift?
I love how little javik cares
He's a warlord from an ancient, hyper-advanced species experienced in fighting Reapers. He is the representation of the vengeance of a dead race. In addition, he is ruthless and fearless. That answer your question?
I want there to be a Mass Effect game that takes place during the time of the Protheans.
It's not like BioWare to go in the past with their games, but there is an upcoming Mass Effect movie for 2019 and nobody still knows anyrhing about the plot... Many believe it will be set either during the Prothean fight against the Reapers of the First Contact War... Either option works for me... ;)
That would be shitty. We already know the ending and they couldn't even kill a Reaper.

Decimation of Earth (Your home world)
Decimation of Palaven (Turian home world)
Attack on Irune (Volus home world)
Attack on Dekuuna (Elcor home world)
Attack on Tuchanka (Krogan home world)
Attack on Kahje (Hanar home world)
Destruction of the Batarians as a species
Asari are arrogant pricks
SonicTrooper22
Well, even though Aria is an Asari she always lived as an outlaw so she doesn't think as an asari (same case as Bray,he's batarian but as a outlaw he didn't care at all about Shepard destroying the batarian colony in Arrival) .
Slick Vic I'm down for watching that happen. Remind me to bring popcorn
Slick Vic like the prometheus theory that jesus was just an engineer
Directed by M. Night Shyamalan
Lets be real, Javik would have easily killed Liara. He's a beast in combat.
+Andy B Yeah, and pretty sure Liara knew it herself, but you ever gotten so pissed off at someone that even though you know they'd destroy you in seconds, you just want to explode with rage and attack? Really felt that here with Liara
What makes you think that? Liara is pretty strong.
But she wasn't trained all her life for combat. Javik was, and he's physically stronger than most of the Normandy crew. That along with the fact that he is also a natural biotic, I'm pretty sure he can just shrug off anything Liara throws at him.
He may have an edge, but fighting Liara shouldn't be that easy for anybody.
Liara is not to be taken lightly bro... She comes off as kind, soft spoken and innocent... but she has a serious mean streak to her
Javik exemplifies how to give a motivational speech to an intelligent person.

I love it how she renders in the first scene, its like from a 10y old game graphics to the new, current graphics.
Yo check out that microexpression on Liara's face at 1:16! You can see how conflicted she is; she knows Javik means well to give her the pep talk, but she's still not really buying it. Now THAT is animation.
Paul Ekman approves of this animation also.
i like how shepard says "carry on"
he is the one who came in the room
Gordon Kroman it is an English military command. In USA they say ‘as you were’ instead

Moments like this enrage me. Javik should NOT have been DLC.
I haven't touched a game with EA's brand on it since ME3. It is the mark of the damned
@@ICCUWANSIUT kills the mother-planet of batarians for the sake of delaying Reapers' arrival for like 6 months...

javik is so awesome lol. i like how Shepard tells him to carry on like javik wasn't already done talking
An asari who spent most of her life studying archeology vs a prothean born and raised to combat goddamn reapers. Yeah javik comes out on top lol.
In the last bit where Shepard asks Javik if he meant anything he said, I agree with Javik: If a person does something good for another without a catch nor asking anything in return, it doesn't matter why they do it.
It still shows they care enough to actually do something, unlike doing nothing.
I'm so glad there was at least one character that yells at Liara.
???
I think the problem with Liara in this particular scene is that she still romanticizes the whole idea about the Prothean. "You're supposed to have all the answers" well she knew that the Reapers destroyed the Prothean, so this is just her emotional state and fantasy talking here.
Yeah I mean Javik is just a person he’s not a god
Javik: "The loss of a planet is insignificant next..."
Me: Oh, I know how this goes, '..next to the power of the Force', right?
"The loss of a planet is insignificant next to the loss of a galaxy."
Sorry Javik, all I heard was...
"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."
When she said she just watched her home destroyed Shepard said have said "Well let the both of us welcome you to the club, bitch."
Fektthis yeah, except thats the exact reason he doesnt say that. Because when youre in that club, you dont wish it on anyone. Except Javik, who is 50.000 years past empathy.
Fektthis Shepard wasn't in the club. Earth was still technically standing.
Earth had it way worse since the Reapers are actually trying to harvest humans.
I wonder if there is an option where Shepard says "Stop it, Now.... just kiss already"
Javik needs to learn some interpersonal skills.
lostn65 javik is broken you can’t exactly blame him for his lack of people skills
He had been alone for 50,000 years, of course he does.
Javik is literally the representation of Shepard's worse possible ending dude literally killed all of his squad.
So if someone has it worse than you, you shouldn't feel sad or grieve?
Everyone is different, and everyone handles grief differently.
Whenever I'd feel too broken to carry on, talking to Javik and Hackett is what kept me going :')
"Shut up, ASARI. Truth doesn't care with your feelings." - Javik Saphiro
Best words!
But than he runs away from the interview when his feelings got hurt xD
@@floricel_112 too bad I got Kelly Chambers killed🤣
@@floricel_112 ik it's a really old comment, but too bad Kelly Chambers didn't want to come back then lol
I always found Liara's voice actress to be a bit mediocre, but she really pulls it off here. Liara needs to get angry more lol
She is just a girlie girl . Kind of tired of the whole Amazonian huntress cliche` and girls that fart and spit like the rest of us. She was not as good a stripper as Tali though. I am talking about shields and barriers of course.

Am I the only one who thinks that Liara is one of the more realistic characters in ME series?
I like Samara
Things not to do: DO NOT PISS LIARA T'SONI OFF AT ANY COST. I knew I wouldn't like to see Liara angry...Sheesh.
Javik would annihilate her
LuDimezofKush That sounds so wrong...
She can flay people, with her mind...
***** So can javik only difference is.Javik grew up learning how to use it Liara more uses it as a self defence weapon or atleast originally she did
+Undead _Sparkz Exactly!
I love it when the Asari get taken down a peg. Javik speaking the truth.
From all voice acting, the most believable emotions comes from Liara's.
Is it me or is Liara even hotter when she's angry?
Liara obviously in a very emotional state but she is completely in the wrong, and she is in fact the one being extremely insensitive. What happened to her planet is all that Javik has ever known. Everybody he has ever known is long dead, his species is extinct...Most of the decisions he's ever made has been sacrifice more lives/worlds/species to the reapers. She think he has time to care about her feelings? Finding a way to defeat the reapers is the only thing he is alive to do, and he has been very clear about it.
she's kind loveing and will be your best friend, or more. but don't piss her off!
Shep saying Liara could of finished that to javik was a bad move. Not saying liara is weak, But javik is on another level.
I hate the asari but I don't hate liara. Liara is just one asari and she is shepards clan. Bioware was blind and they tried to make us the same.
It's funny that the Turian Councilor is the biggest asshole to you in ME 1 and 2, but he's the only one that is even slightly reasonable in ME 3.
the only reason liara walks away is because she knows javick would kill her in combat lol
Emmanuel Ogundele jajaja nice joke liarla will kill javik in 1 second
Darío Gómez lol😂😂😂 'kill javik in 1 second ' javik is more experienced in combat and has been trained to be a soldier all his life. Maybe if liara was older and more experienced she will stand a chance but if she fought javik now.... no chance she will still be alive unless shepard saves her lol.
damn right
the Protheans had the most powerful biotics
"Probably the only biotic that is stronger then her is Samara"
You forgot Jack. She is really powerful.
And aria
Javik you troll...
0:34 We believed you would..
Based off the comments enjoying how Liara's pissed I need to say a few things:
Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku
Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku
None of the responses you gave really addressed the points I made.
Sir Nils Olav - I am pissed off on Liara because (that's going to be tyrade):
1) She was forced on that mission - her only purpose was to be thrown by her stupidity in combat situations to knock down second companion so Kai Leng may steal Vendetta easier.
Not to mention I am sure as hell Benezia would know about beacon on
Thessia. She was very important Matriarch for Thessia ! (but BioWare won't remember ME 1 now would they ?)
3) When finally she decides to USE her Shadow Broker status she uses it as a bitch slap for really meaningless petty replies.
When met with Javik she again bumps into 'I have no idea how to behave or what others may feel' - she gives him ZERO time and starts bringing up topics obviously painfull for him.
The Protheons are badass .. no wonder they survived over three hundred years of war with the Reapers
Angry Liara is AWESOME
Javik is actually the only person in the galaxy to understand the universe. He has the most experience and his culture had the highest cultural standards. There is a reason why they where way more advanced than the cultures of this cycle and the same reason goes for why they ruled above all in their cycle. Saying the truth is not treating people like shit.

I enjoyed him belittling Asari, I have never liked them.
noone did, i myself frankly dislike most Asari because of their lack of use in Mass effect, ME 1:Asari Councilor(and the other councilors for that matter) are damn near useless, they wouldn't believe me even if i dropped a dead reaper in their lawn and in ME 3 turns out they were withholding crucial information for the battle against the reapers, their councilor just sat on her ass constantly denying me the help i require with the Crucible and War effort, i mean i know the Dalatrass wanted me to "fake" the cure for the Genophage but the Genophage is just a little added protection to prevent overpopulation of the Krogan Race, it didn't outright sterilize them and cuz krogan extinction, i'm just glad the Turian councilor decided to help me, sure he asked me a favor but still he did provide me with Turians, and Garrus(i say it like that cuz Garrus is the only Turian i can rely on when it comes to Calibrations)
Meh i luv them just for a fact they are good stripper lmao. But seriously tho after that i expect after the reaper dead the asari didnt have the right to become a council

As much as i love Liara even as a best friend never romancing her after coming back from the Marine Corps.... imagine if we woke up a Templar and Saracen Knight.... Why? Because he's being (meanie)honest to Liara? She wanted to know something, she got the answer and got mad. Then blamed his species everything
I don't get all the hate Javik gets, seriously.
Lol liara realized she was about 3 seconds away from fighting a being who has her beat a thousand times over in every category.
Javik is never wrong and says what he means. No beating around the bush. Like a boss.
As much as I like Liara, that would have been a one-way ticket into the Asari afterlife if she decided to let loose on Javik.
A biotically gifted soldier, bred for war in the middle of a galaxy wide genocidal event who knows nothing besides combat and warfare...
vs
An archaeologist who has seen combat for about four or five years, give or take.
@@blackstag9366 if you didn't play the dlc, in ME3 she tells you that she hired a bunch of mercs and everyone end up dying.
...and this is why Javik is one of my favorite characters in the series. Third only to Doctor Brolus and Legion (AKA, Brobot).
I'd still ship them :)
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
No, Goddess! No, No, NO!
Why not. It wouldn't be any more disgusting than Liara and Shepard. Asari can mate with any species after all.
Arthus850 The fact that it can be done makes it less disgusting somehow?.
Yea it kinda does tbh. I mean they are both biologically compatible just as Shepard is. Despite not being the same species it doesn't really matter that much when they have genetics that work like that.
Context.

And he has a really sweet conversation with Tali over this incident with Liara too! :D
Damn right. Asari think they're all badass, pfft, what a joke.
In my opinion, they land on that planet like they are finally seeing once and for all "peace". As for the "Shepard alive" scene... it takes place before the "extended cut" epilogue and after the Normandy leaves the planet.
I ship them
Nice to see Shepard isn't the only one with the inspiring speeches, for a change.
javik and liara just need to kiss or more who agrees
Zac Jones They really need to relieve all that belligerent sexual tension.
It didn't pointed out any of his romantic interest to her - not to mention him being overall tired and annoyed by Liara 24 h per day like when he wished that asari would never learn how to talk.
cracmar03 Sure buddy, if that's how you interpret things.
He is the upper engine room area were the krogan grunt was in ME 2 and right across from Allers who has taken up in Zaeed's old residence
I've never liked the Asari and don't like having liara as a forced companion. They're a pompous self righteous and ignorant species who thinks they're better than everyone. I relish every opportunity to remove one.
just imagine what would happen to them after the war after the truth is out
which will happen . don't even try to give me that every one who knew the truth died bullishit .. dear future commnter
The Normandy crew survived with the truth. Not sure if they would have revealed the truth as it would have resulted in another war for Prothean technology.
But it's the truth. Every one who knew about them hiding Prothean tech is dead regardless of the ending you choose (which don't matter).
With the information provided by the game, the fact that he is last prothean makes perfect sense.
