    Como colou pasta americana sobre buttercream sem derreter a pasta???

    • @TheRobynsNest
      @TheRobynsNest  3 роки тому

      This cake is just American buttercream with fondant decorations. It is a crusting buttercream, so it won't melt. I use a tiny dab of water on the back of the fondant to activate the sugar and make it sticky and it acts just like glue.

      I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. The bow, the ears and the face are all made from fondant, the face is painted with food color and edible colored dusts are used for the shading

    Hi there! I want to use your technique to make the bow and ears.
    1. How far ahead can I make it?
    2. It's a 6inch cake so how much fondant should work for the bow and ears?
    3. Will confectioners sugar or cornstarch work too instead of the TCM powder?

    • @TheRobynsNest
      @TheRobynsNest  3 роки тому +1

      In my experience you don’t need the tylose powder but it could take a very very long time to dry, and if it is raining or is very humid it can take even longer. If you don’t have tylose powder I would recommend drying with a little heat. You can put them lying flat on a cookie sheet in your oven with just the light on. (Do not forget them in the oven and accidentally turn them on!!) 😰 Also if you don’t have tylose, I would make these 3 or 4 days in advance to insure adequate drying. They do tend to be slightly more fragile this way so be sure to make them on the thick side and use caution when handling them when they are dry. As for how much fondant, I can’t say for sure how much but I would say 1.5 - 2lbs should be more than enough. Hope this was helpful!

      @@TheRobynsNest thank you so much for the detailed response. So I made the bow and the ears on Wednesday and let them air dry. I added it to the cake on Friday evening. Stored the cake in the fridge overnight and everything was fine.i delivered the cake on Saturday morning and it was still good. However, I noticed the ears started "wilting" around noonish. The bow was fine but the ears looked like they became soft. Any idea why that happened?

    • @TheRobynsNest
      @TheRobynsNest  3 роки тому +1

      @@nidanaqvi5653 yup, fondant and fridges don’t play well together. 😆 Next time just box your cake. The cardboard will draw the condensation away from the cake and keep the fondant from wilting.

    Hey Robin, love ur work! Can u tell me what size brush and brush set you use for the eyelashes? Also do u paint them with food color only?

    • @TheRobynsNest
      @TheRobynsNest  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! It’s is just a cheap fine tip paint brush used for acrylic painting from Michaels. Water color paint brushes work well too. I have only every used these with gel food color tho obviously, and yes, that is all I use to paint with. Sometimes I dilute it a little bit if the color is too bright or concentrated or if I need a very light shade. I like to treat it a bit like water color painting to be honest. I hope this was helpful! Thanks for watching!

      I don’t really measure to be honest, but you don’t need much. For a piece of fondant about the size or your fist I would use about 1 tsp. Hope this is helpful!

    Hi Robyn, Could I make Minnie's face with gumpaste? Or it works better with fondant.

    • @TheRobynsNest
      @TheRobynsNest  2 роки тому

      You can use whichever one you prefer. Gum paste is a little more forgivable and easy to work with but dries hard, fondant will stay soft, pliable and easier to eat so it’s a matter of preference
