Ahmed starting singing was one of the coolest small subtle movie fakeouts that I can remember. Unless you are a hardcore fan of that era (which I wasn’t), up to this point you kind of just assume he’s a nerdy suit. Even Ray expresses skepticism when Ahmet says how he wrote this song. Then the music starts and dude just starts slapping, loved it.
One of the best movies Ive ever seen, when it comes to doing a biographic movie on a person this has to be the closest a actor could get to the original article, like a twin.
0:16 - 0:30/ Always appreciated the double joke Ray pulled off on Ahmet. He's literally finding out about this song in that moment. So hearing Ahmet mentioning he just came up with the song means Ray wouldn't have been familiar with the tune. Then you add to that moment the knowledge of Ray being blind, he'd never be able to read the damn lyrics, anyway!😂
I love this scene, it’s one of my favorite scenes of the movie!!! Ray is one of my favorite movies ever!! Jamie Foxx, he’s one of my favorite actors and celebrities, he played Ray Charles so well, and that’s my favorite role ever of all time for him!! He’s Oscar win determines he can play it with passion, determination, dedication and hard work and talent!!! ❤😊❤😊❤️ 😍 🤩
0:50 the detail that they recorded Ahmet singing this song by the spinning tape recorder in the background is hilarious and a testament to how movie directors have become observant
Jamie had to wear contacts for the film that literally made him blind while filming. He is also an amazing piano player. Everything you see he did on his own.
I’m still trying to imagine his pitch to potential investors: “my brother Neshui and I are the sons of the Turkish ambassador; we, and our friend the Turkish dentist, are interested in starting a record company to record Negro rhythm music. You want in?”
I’m glad I’m not the only one who caught that…homebody said key of G and ray played Eb and he was like bet…I use to do this with the praise team when I would play in one key and they would be it’s high take it up a half step and I would play in the same key and they would be like “YES KEEP THAT KEY THATS PERFECT!!!!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
A white man did come up with the song you stupid twat. Ray obviously came up with all the musical parts. You can’t fucking argue with facts you dickhead
Jamie absolutely killed this role, Iconic
Yes! That's why he got an Oscar for it!
Yes he sure did Ray would be proud 👏
Just imagine being in the studio when this was going on. Man the vibe in that room!!!
Ahmet Ertegun had a real eye for talent. He brought us so many great artist. He signed future legends most records companies turned down.

He was a nerd . . . he was booger
John Candy playing the piano on the dashboard 😂
Ahhhhhhhh! The genesis of the greatest piano song of all time! Perfect for distracted driving! XD
As a coach this is how I feel when players (much more talented than I ever was) execute plays that I designed. Poetry in motion
Jamie is a genius, brilliant
I still can't believe they glued his eyes shut for this role Jamie Foxx is truly a master at his craft
Are you serious?
Ray was a master god at what he did never will be another RIP
One of the best movies Ive ever seen, when it comes to doing a biographic movie on a person this has to be the closest a actor could get to the original article, like a twin.
Love the acting in this movie!!! Ray by Jamie Foxx is my favorite role by him!!! ❤😊
Jamie foxx was fucking amazing in this movie
Curtis Armstrong and Jaime Fox. Just amazing actors.
They guy who sung mess around to "Ray" fucking sent it, what a legend.
I felt sad when I watched the whole movie I was crying when Ray Charles's little brother died from drowning.😢
Before Electro could shoot lightning from his fingers, he used to straight-up SPIT FIRE
I tell you, this film really made me not just appreciate music, but the whole process and craftsmanship of it. Ray Charles really loved music.
It ain't like i can read the lyrics
Perfectly cut ending

He had his doubts till white boy started singing ray knew he had sumdin 🤟🤣💯🎶
He looks JUST like Ray
0:48 Go head', Snot!
Holy shit you're right
whaaaaaaaaat it seems so obvious now :D
0:50 the detail that they recorded Ahmet singing this song by the spinning tape recorder in the background is hilarious and a testament to how movie directors have become observant
Ray charles the monster of piano end song
Jamie had to wear contacts for the film that literally made him blind while filming. He is also an amazing piano player. Everything you see he did on his own.
Is that true? Did he actually do the piano playing and singing for this scene? Is this 100% Jamie Foxx performing here?
“Well, Sam, it's been twenty minutes. You wanna take over?“
Ahmet is the true hero of this scene. Mild mannered exec by day, supercool soulster by night! hahaha
I’m still trying to imagine his pitch to potential investors: “my brother Neshui and I are the sons of the Turkish ambassador; we, and our friend the Turkish dentist, are interested in starting a record company to record Negro rhythm music. You want in?”
"The key is G"
Ok. (Play E flat)
0:19
Jamie:Mess Around cute title who wrote it
Ahmed:I did
Jaime:Ah you wrote
Once he said Ight that pretty good let me take it from here 😂💪🏽knew he was finna kill it 🔥
Booger can sing!!!
Great tune, great musicians, great movie! This song's in Eb though, not G!
Jack Howe I was about to ask that got the music in Eb and thought wait
I’m glad I’m not the only one who caught that…homebody said key of G and ray played Eb and he was like bet…I use to do this with the praise team when I would play in one key and they would be it’s high take it up a half step and I would play in the same key and they would be like “YES KEEP THAT KEY THATS PERFECT!!!!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice to know luz from band of brothers got into recording after the war
"you know boys, flies spread disease. So keep yours closed."
Only problem: it’s in E flat, not G!
Wish they included Ray’s duet with Billy Joel in 86’
Too bad no album was released of Jamie foxx covers of Ray.
Well, he never sang in the movie. It was all Ray’s voice.
The movie is great. The actor is greater. But Charles Ray is better! RIP
So... I guess George Lutz got a pretty sweet job after the war huh?
Khairil Edzham Ismail this deserves more likes but Normies don`t know about Band of Brothers
Well do enlighten us, brothers!
0:58 Didn't think people would take this title seriously
good film
Dis iz wat I doo babah
Where's John Candy in the car smoking? :)
Para ponerme activo y con muy buen humor
Magnífica!!
This was honestly when you want the producer to be on your song 😅
0:33
This song is great except for the time I was driving my friend home and burned up our rental car.
Ah yes I guess your "20min" were up by then🤣
If you seen it you will understand the reference.
not gonna lie, the white dude was actually kinda fire.
Some one please tell me what he played first when he was told it was in the key of g
Booger wrote The Mess Around 🤣🤣🤣
Hard to believe that's Booger...:)
Took me a couple years to realize he's the voice for Snot on American Dad. Then another year to realize the Booger/Snot reference...
Thanks! I was trying to place the actor as his voice seemed so familiar. Risky Business, Better Off Dead ……. 😂😂
1:56 that’s a joint? 😅
Ppl rolled their cigarettes way more often back then.
Look at it, that's not a blunt, just a normal cigarette
It’ll be a joint not a blunt
Where is E King?
Jaime was more Ray Charles than Ray Charles
Way to go Metatron!
It is not the key G hahaha.
Wait...he stopped him before he could sing the whole song...how did he learn the other lyrics...
nicsandknacksandseans improvised probably
He’s wearing a different shirt Clearly he learnt the lyrics in the mean time
... It's implying when Ray starts singing, it's days or even weeks later.
They say snot cant sing 😅
Implying that a white man came up with the song! They want credit for everything!
Dude Ahmet wrote this song, that's a fact. And he is Turkish-American so not entirely white ;) Kind of mean what you are saying here...
It documented that Ahmet wrote the song, Jesus nigga, does everything have to be some race shit.
Ahmet wrote it. Also, he wasn't white. He was Turkish. Go learn some history and culture, freak.
@@samueljones3668 right like damn 🤣 one song.
