It's fantastic to see the two largest cities in the USA get transformational upgrades and renovations of their biggest airports. LAX in Los Angeles has been undergoing one since 2017, and it totals around $30 billion. It won't be completed until 2030, but the vast majority will be done by the 2028 Olympics.
Singapore Changi Airport is already in the process of terminal 5 that can accomodate 50 million passengers. This airport is often rated #1 in the world. It is embassing that not a single airport in the US has been in the Top 10 best for decades.
And won't ever probably. And good too. Nobody in America wants to waste money on the cost of a Changi or Beijing airport. Most people don't glorify airports here or use them like big marketing tools. They travel domestically and spend as little time as possible in them. Your changi dream won't happen here. Hardly anybody flies abroad compared to the number of quick domestic lights, meaning a fancy transfer airport like Changi is irrelevant here.
And some people are saying our airports shouldn’t be improved. Travel outside of the US and every international gateway to a country is vastly better than what we have here in this country. While our politicians do little or nothing while poisoning the minds of citizens to not expect improvements and advancements as a necessity because it’s all a radical left wing agenda we fall behind as a society as other countries set the pace.
It’s necessary to built world class airport. At this moment comparing JFK to its international peers is a disgrace. Not advocating for it to be brought up to basic international standards is rather pointless.
Everything about JFK airport is a mess. How to get to the Air train when you get off the E train in Sutphin BLVD is unacceptable. One stairway to drag your luggage up and down, one elevator you have to wait at least 5 minutes for, They been replace an escalator for at 9 months now. I don't understand how it takes 9 months and going to 10 months to replace an escalator. Who ever's in charge at JFK airport need to start screaming at MTA's boss because this is crazy.
These JFK buildings are not facelifts, they are brand new.. Cheap facelifts do occur, but again, these are not that. And if they aren't as good as China or UAE over-the-top vanity projects, the reason is obvious. The US is a democracy and people won't allow vanity projects that cost the moon just so they can say "we have the prettiest airports".
@@GKP999 Competing globally is economics, not how pretty my airport building is. And i think the US economy is doing fine recently. It appears that having the most beautiful terminal infrastructure is not a big factor in global competitiveness, eh? Also, USA is not wasting money on vanity projects just for the sake of it. It didn't become the top economy in the world by wasting money.
@tonyodoul5679 How much traveling have you done? Changi is expanding so that it can get more customers. Like you said, it is about business. Having a nice airport, that is also efficient and has many amenities, brings in money. Talking about competitiveness, I suggest you look it up. The US was very competitive. It has been declining in many areas.
@@tonyodoul5679you need to get out of your house if you think our airports shouldn’t improve. Airports are basic infrastructures that need to be maintained and JFK certainly isn’t in the best shape at this very moment. The biggest US city deserved an airport to reflect the status it has carried as one of the riches in the world.
Need to spend $ .aking staff .ore customer focused idk like a tuly helping book ykhr flight bc shitso.e phone died insiedd of having to take public gransit tk ewr tp spend the all dah for a flight.

That’s ridiculous

Singapore is literally a dictatorship. You can choose a better example, look to Europe
You sound very insecure.
@@Matthew-p2h Yes, I am. LOL!
For 19B all the airports in India can be upgraded and within the same time range.
Remember the U.S. $ is worthless. They just keep printing………..

Unnecessary work, could have used that money to improve the nyc subway system

Wow great reasoning behind your comment. Your a genius
Too much talking
We will have an airport in Mars by the time the JFK project is completed 😂😅

Even medium sized cities in China have gleaming new and hyper-modern airports. US airports are basically cheap facelifts of ancient buildings.
All of the infrastructure in the US really needs to improve if it is going to compete with other countries.
