Does this show 33.33 m length for pool? In New Zealand we have a few 33.33. m length pools.
Is it useful for swimming in the open water, sea?
And does it record heart rate continuously when swimming?

I used the miband for swimming for the first time. But it did not track anything. Do I need to have the phone nearby the pool with me?

Same here, it tracked mine til 136 metres when I checked it at my 10th lap. Restarted it after and again, it stopped at 121 metres after another 10 laps 🤷‍♀️

Do you have problems getting the band to upload the swim workout data to the mi fit app? I have tried a few things and it is always losing the data before I really get to take a close look at it.

Have you checked the device while you're under (approximately) a minute ?
even when you are not finished the actual 50meters

You should check it's waterproof first
