Dylan Clark (the “Planet of the Apes” films) and Reeves produced the film, with Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Simon Emanuel serving as executive producers. The director’s behind-the-scenes creative team included Oscar-nominated director of photography Greig Fraser (“Dune,” “Lion”); Reeves’ “Planet of the Apes” production designer, James Chinlund, and editor, William Hoy; editor Tyler Nelson (“Rememory”); and Oscar-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran (“1917,” “Little Women,” “Anna Karenina”). The music is by Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino (the current “Spider-Man,” “Jurassic World” and “Star Wars” films, “Up”). Warner Bros. Pictures Presents a 6th & Idaho/Dylan Clark Productions Production, a Matt Reeves Film, “The Batman.” The film is set to open in theaters March 4, 2022 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. The fact that Robert Pattinson established himself as a perfect Bruce Wayne without even speaking a single word in this scene proves that he was the right choice for Batman.
Edit:- After watching the movie, the above statement is more accurate.
Yes! Microexpression has always been something that I seek while watching a movie, in terms of the aspect of the actor/actresses.
If an actor can express their emotions clearly without needing to speak a single word, then you can see just how much the actor is able to connect with their role. And I always find that commendable and very impressive.
I hope Robin Pattinson will be able to serve exactly that for this movie. I have high hopes and I'm really hyped 🙏
Really? He's just moody and gloomy like a teenage kid, I don't see it.

The realism is terrifying. And how Bruce is just standing there with no fear is badass
I saw this on exact word to word comment in the other comment section, was it you?😂
I'd actually suggest the opposite. The great thing about Batman isn't that he's afraid of nothing. If anything, that's the biggest lie about Batman you could ever say. The great thing about Batman is that he tries to hide his fear, it doesn't fool his enemies and that's why they exploit it. Beneath the suit is just a mortal man who believes he's immortal.
No. He feels fear. He’s just fearless: embraces it
The ones that inspire the most fear are usually the ones that are most fearful themselves. Most people cant go up against a man that isnt afraid of his own fear ironically. You are taught since you are born in a way that makes you weak when you are afraid, even the "chicken" thing kids say to each other for fun,it sets you up to have that weakness
No Fear? Bruce looks terrified there, when he realizes that if Batman doesn't pick up the phone, the guy bomb will explode killing an innocent person.

There's one thing we haven't talked about enough and praised enough.
It's what an amazing actor Robert Pattinson is in The Batman. He gave to this character something we had never seen in the previous incarnations of Bruce Wayne; a sadness, a fragility, a vulnerability that were so moving. I ADORE the fact that he never played Bruce as a charming playboy (which is something every actor who has played this part before did) but rather as a very grey, dull and insipid man. Just look at the funeral scene again.
He's all grey, sad, depressive. His clothes are not elegant. Even the fact that he has longer hair shows how depressed he is, so tired of his two years as Batman, fighting for apparently nothing.
And pay attention at Robert Pattinson acting in this scene. He doesn't say a single word and yet you understand every feeling he's having. It's an amazing performance and a very refreshing take on the character.
I’m honestly comparing Bale vs Pattinson. They are neck and neck right now.
Pattinsom got tips from Bale. And also he realize in the end thst he needs to be a symbol of hope for gotham. We WILL see playboy bruce in a sequel because THAT is a mask for Batman.

Bruce Wayne is usually portrayed as a light hearted play book who just goofs off and parties with women but in THIS movie, they are making bruce Wayne so reclusive to the point where he doesn’t fell comfortable around people as all he can think about is being batman and seeking revenge against crime as he’s so traumatized by his parents death that he can’t be anything else, and it’s a FANTASTIC interpretation of the character as that’s realistic and most likely how bruce would have ended up if his parents were murdered in front of him as a boy and he was so traumatized from it to his adult years that he doesn’t know how to be around people.

the synthesis between bruce and batman is really strong in this one. you can feel that there's basically a split personality within bruce, one that's very calm, almost whiny, and one that gives him the power to fully unleash the anger and brutality that is normally resting within him. with bale and its little cool nods you could still feel the bruce behind the mask, but pattinson fully transforms into a brutal machine when wearing the suit to the point of being characterwise unrecognizable as bruce. brilliant movie

It's how he usually starts out. I read an article claiming that this was such a different take, but In Batman begins he started out being reclusive, but decided to play the drunken idiot billionaire Playboy after Alfred's suggestion.
Oh my science, it's Gemson!

I really like how they're clearly leaning into the self-destructive aspects of Bruce. There has always been this underlying motivation in the comics that Bruce doesn't want to live, but rather, he's on a suicidal mission to free himself from the pain and guilt that he suffers from losing his parents. No wonder he has no fear during this scene: he doesn't care if he lives or dies. Makes perfect sense considering this version is based on Kurt Cobain.
He says in a scene: I don’t care what happens to me
And then ironically tells Catwoman to not throw her life away.
@@pipebombmailer78 It's a fascinating point and I think it makes sense psychologically, especially for people who may be self-loathing as they tend to find it easier to care for other people rather than themselves.
@@pipebombmailer78 hmm, its obvious batman is a closet simp…
Yeah this version of Bruce is nihilistic.
I love this moment when he looks at the boy. He can see the pain that he experienced when his parents were killed.
This dude needs to win an Oscar already. What a versatile actor. His performance in The Lighthouse was mindblowing, and this film looks like it's going to blow as well!

He's in Batman mode
On the one hand, it could just show his fearlessness, but on the other, it could also show he has somewhat of a death wish. He’s an extremely depressed person, so I wonder if that’s something they’ll touch on in this film.
“Such darkness, such pain… how do you cope?”

One of the best Superheroes of the decade so far. But looking at marvel and DC that is not saying much unfortunately. But this is the standard to beat.
Dear God. It looks so good. Feels unbelievably dark and gritty in the best ways possible. That staredown between Bruce and the Riddler, so cold and calculated, just amazing. March can't come fast enough!
I like how in almost every shot or frame, the camera is placed behind a piece of an object/person and they’re blurred out while the main subject is in focus. The Hog Rider card is unlocked from the Spell Valley (Arena 5). He is a very fast building-targeting, melee troop with moderately high hitpoints and damage. He appears just like his Clash of Clans counterpart; a man with brown eyebrows, a beard, a mohawk, and a golden body piercing in his left ear who is riding a hog. A Hog Rider card costs 4 Elixir to deploy

The cinematography and the build up towards the car ramming the cathedral ... If this goes as expected Robert Patterson will be the best live action Batman to ever grace the cinema.
Batman Begins and The Dark Knight set that standard very very high. If The Batman can that level this'll be incredible.
He's gonna make silenced haters the way Heath Ledger did
When people bemoaned his casting as Batman I laughed them off. How can you judge someone who's turned out to be a great actor because you're sore about Twilight? He’s done so much more since then. I am willing to bet that if this movie does not do well, it won't be because of Pattinson. I hope the movie does well.
True
Every movie about politics, detective or serial killers are rated high ( seven and v for Vendetta for example) Hush and Batman Halloween are considered as some of the best comics
Remember when people bashed Heath Ledger´s casting as the Joker? Good times.
I was stoked to hear he was cast. So unexpected! I've only watched his more recent stuffs...have you seen The Lighthouse?
I remember when people knew - for a fact - that superhero films would be ruined because the guy who directed "Beetlejuice" was going to be doing a Batman movie starring Michael "Mr. Mom" Keaton - with music by the leader of Oingo Boingo.
A masterpiece awaits us in March.
On the first week of March 🥳
Seven is one of my all time favorite movies and I'm so excited to finally see a Batman movie where they incorperate that genre. It's brilliant since Batman is foremost a detective.

The character-driven storytelling that we are probably going to see in this film is very well shown here as an example.

@@pab1381 Cut to outside of the interior place. Like showing car running and entering from outside.

Nice attention man, some of these things can go to the back of our heads but man you can really just feel it there. I'm really excited for this movie and the direction. A cut of the car and more attention to the explosive situation rather than the focus of the character is something Nolan would have done, not really a fan of that.
This is gonna be an amazing movie
The atmosphere in this scene is truly impeccable
I just noticed that when Gordon made eye contact with Bruce, Bruce looked away, almost as if he was worried that Gordon would figure out he is Batman since he is the only one who has made close contact with him more than once. Subtle detail there and shows why the playboy persona was made
Yep. It's like he keeps catching himself acting like Batman when he's in Bruce mode so he'll decide to create that persona for Bruce as the movies go on.
What a great catch!
After rewatching it many times if you also notice when he sees the mayor's son the mayor's son barely looks at him but when they see each other after the murder they have a long connection. Also I believe the first guy that was trying to get by is actually part of the Riddler's group, and the second guy is also in the group, that talks to Bruce without realizing it is the same guy that says vengeance after he gets beating up. He even talks about how his daughter is dead and blames the mayor in the rich people. Of course you also see the police officer that doesn't like Batman at first but says hello Mr Wayne right away.
That scene is spectacular, Gordon looks at him and directly thinks of nothing. He is another person to him, not his detective partner.
I have a feeling this is going to be the DEFINITIVE Batman.

@@emanon9084 the tune to it is more of Ave Maria however, I can't say the same about the lyrics. I guess it could be a mix of both Ave Maria and Dido's Lament
2:21 The way everybody goes down at the sound of the ringing tone except Bruce, you could almost taste the terror in the air and the fear trumbling in their loud cries !!! Given the fact that he said zero words in this scene shows you how this Batman is different, he is more reflective. The bat casts his shadow by his mere presence without any mask.
Everyone is talking about how Bruce's silence matches the comics but I still think it's interesting how Real speaks to him. On the one hand, she quickly fills in the gaps of conversation like most smooth-talking politicians; discussing business/philanthropy at a *funeral* On the other hand, she still wants to convey her respects to the mayor's son, which is good of her. It also shows how Real sees the need to use wealth and business to help others, which was a nice touch of characterization for her; shows how Bruce was more focused on being Batman than a Wayne in the Gotham community, imo.
Idk, all in all, I just thought it was an interesting exchange that realistically showed how those who have experienced a traumatic death view funerals differently from those who have not.
Very interesting point. I bet we'll see more of an active philanthropist businessman Wayne in the next film.
@@tylergroves9049 Thanks; I'm down for that too
“I wouldn’t be bothering you here, but your people keep telling me you’re unavailable.”
For the first time I can confidently say someone finally understands the Batman mythos, and that is Matt Reeves. While this movie is more grounded like the Nolan films, It still looks and feels like a comic book movie. The atmosphere, the cinematography, the set design.. it looks like a drab and disgusting world that desperately needed a Batman. Like most people I enjoyed the Nolan trilogy, but after Batman Begins, Gotham just started looking like a generic city. Gotham has a certain kind of noir vibe and architectural design that makes it actually look like GOTHAM. Not to mention, Rob's portrayal here is absolutely PERFECT. He hasn't yet cared to develop his Bruce Wayne identity, therefore the way he acts and moves is like he's always in Batman mode.
This movie is going to be a instant classic.

All I know is thay I want someone who could truly bring in a Spider-Man series that truly adapts the comics(Mainly 616) into a modern era.
