I always cut my holographic sheet to fit inside the registration marks. That will work.
I love my Cricut Maker! ❤️
When you have lived the pain of cricut miscuts and then get a silhouette you literally want to cry from the absolute joy. I made the change 4 years ago and it was soooo worth it.
Yeah! I'm definitely team silhouette aha
I use Koala sticker paper and do not laminate. Stickers that have been on water bottles for 1.5 years are still great. I refuse to waste more plastic and do more steps.
My cricut cut my holographic sticker paper but I use holographic sticker paper, not laminate. I have both machines, a cricut and Silouette Cameo 3. Try to peel the mat off, not the stickers Also when you put the paper on the mat, just press the outter edges and not on the middle, it'll peel off easier.
Happy it's working for you, love both machines for different reasons. You should get a wall vinyl sheet and use your cricut to cut your logo, put it on your wall so it shows during your videos. Maybe your cricut after a good calibration can become your vinyl cutter, you could make small decals and iron on vinyl for shirts and tote bags. I use my cricut a lot for the branding aspect of my business.
Just realized I'm on my daughter's account 😄 I guess I'm Space Olive today.
Which Koala sticker paper do you use? I have been having the WORST time finding sticker paper that is actually good.
I use a white gel crayon over the registration marks on my cricut & it works great. Also, when I remove the sticker sheets, I turn the mat over & peel the mat away from the sheet. It'll help with the sheet not curling. 😊
You can add the matte scotch tape over the registration marks which will dull the gloss and allow your silhouette machine to read the marks
Cut laminate sheet to fit inside the registration marks. Also turn over and peel the mat from sticker sheet. This will stop the stickers curling
Thanks for the tips! Ill try it next time!
WOOP! really pleased this worked for you. Also as someone who has been running a small business for 4 years now (yikes, I'm only now just realising how long i've been doing it for!) I'm learning so much from watching your videos. You've come so far in such a short amount of time in not just your business but your video quality too. It took me many MANY years to up my video quality but you've figured it out so quickly! I've been searching around for small business videos to pop on while I work and yours are by far my favourite. Thanks so much for many hours of lovely arty entertainment :)
That's so sweet of you! thank you so much ☺ and I actually did a bit of film and tv in college so that helped a lot with my video quality (also getting a better camera was a massive help too 😂) Your video quality is amazing! I love how aesthetic and cosy your videos are!
I love my Cricut machines. I have made thousands of stickers including easy peel, sticker sheets, and diecut . I’m glad that you found a machine that works for you.
Soo excited for you! Now you can print all the stickers you want! 😁
I've had my Silhouette for like three years and I just now learned you can do that thing with different colored lines to make different types of cuts. Oh my god. Thank you 🤣
I learned from a tutorial! It honestly feels like such a life saver when making sticker sheets ahah
Love watching your videos, you inspire me to start my own small business. I love my Silhouette machines. Some tips to make life easier with the Silhouette, with regards to registration, try not to put the lamination sheet over the registration marks. It will help your registration immensely. With regards to taking your sticker sheets off the mat, turn the mat over and pull off from the back, it stops them from curling. Keep up the good work. Maria from Sydney Australia x
Thank you for the tips! I'll try them next time! 😁
yaay! so happy that the siluette worked for you! I have been thinking about getting one myself at some point, cuz im kinda limited to what sticker size im able to get due to prices! Super excited for you Abi!~^^
I highly recommend one! They're also really fun to use! 😄
Been using a Silhouette since around 2016 and I'm glad to see more smaller creators pick it up. Love mine still to this day. Was fun to see you working out the kinks!
Glad you have started off well with silhouette, i'm glad i went for silhouette cameo in the end although had a false start with a loklik machine first which i had to send back. The 2 bits that you are not sure about, 1 is the adapter for sketch pens and the other is a tool to adjust blade manually. Oh and i de - stickied the mat a little bit by allowing it to stick to a clean t shirt. I managed to get cat hair stuck to mine too but I guess that's inevitable when you have cats.
Welcome to the Silhouette family :). When I started my business I did a bunch of research on which cutting machine was easier to use and had less issues - Silhouette was always the winner and after seeing how many issues people have had with the Cricut I'm glad I went with the Silhouette Cameo 4 on my first go.
such a good video, watched and enjoyed till the end ☺☺
tip that i saw from Kelly's creations on youtube. apply a bit of masking tape (that beige transparent one) or matte tape on the corners. because its matte, the machine will read it better when its glossy
I felt like I was watching past me and all the things I encountered lol. Definitely pull the mat away from the stickers instead of the stickers away from the mat. Also bending the mat back on itself can help release them. If you want to reduce the stickiness off the mat stick card to not paper, otherwise you'll have bits of paper stuck to it forever more lol
Use Matt tape. To put over the black marks and sometimes I'd have to go over it with the sharpie
if you use a tshirt on the mat it helps make it less sticky!
I want a silhouette so badly, I definitely regret my cricut, but it's all I have to I'll use it for now but man I can't wait until I can afford to get a silhouette
Don’t put the laminate over the registration lines. Also, if it’s very shiny, turn the lights off so it can read the lines. Sometimes the shine messes with the machines. Glad you found a machine you like! 🎉🎉
if you are using the lamination pouches buy a some chip board put one sticker sheet on either side of the board in the pouch and they won’t stick together.
I found that with the holo film, I need to keep it off the registration marks. The holo messes with the light reading it
whenever i had issues with my cricut it was reflecting the registration marks to much id tape over them with matt scotch tape and it would read it (though im still happier without the cricut)
Cut the lamination sheet to fit inside the registration marks
I’m hitting the point where I’m going to give in and buy a portrait 3 lol, the cricut has been testing me lately 😭
try microporus tape over the reg marks, if its too shiny it doesn't recognise it.
Stick the mat to your shirt or jeans and it won’t be so sticky
So exciting!! I've been using a cricut 2 for about 7 years for my small biz and yeah the print and cut calibration is really meh. I do think it has its place for paper cutting (I make paper flowers) as it's always done really well on that end. But for stickers, yeah no lol.
I have been sitting here for like 2 hrs trying to get my silhouette to cut all the way through my vinyl sticker sheets 🤦🏻♀️
The absolute BEST machine for print and cut is the StarCraft Solo with the Silhouette don’t put the laminate over the registration mark …I have 3 silhouettes and I only use one of them for vinyl only … I do ALL of my print and cut on the StarCraft Solo and it is always PERFECT
Everyone commenting about not putting laminate over it… it can work just fine I’ve never had an issue but if you want the best work just put some matte laminate or tape over the registration marks like scotch tape
💜💙
sometimes it helps to close the cover
I don’t understand how you got your registration marks.
Sorry, cricut didn't work out for you. I used mine to make stickers for my grandson's goody bags recently and was thrilled they have a sticker setting. You can easily make kiss-cut or die-cut stickers as well as change the thickness and color of the offset.
Those cricut machines are rubbish and have mine for yrs and use it 3 times. I hate it
Not sure on Silhouette settings but it may help to change the cutting pressure to pass through the sticker sheet and the laminate sheet…I’ve had success using my Cricut and have a Silhouette I’ve yet to learn 🫣🙂
