I just turned 70 last week. I have been a fan of Mother Mother for years. Every album seems to be more musically sophisticated than the last. I consider them one of the best musical groups in the world. I am seeing them in Edmonton Alberta on March 16. I'm afraid I will probably embarrass the hell out of my partner.
Oh that's so awesome! Also yeah, Mother Mother is a band for all ages I believe. I myself am 15 and completely in love with MM. Eureka is my favourite album though, I like the first 4 the most.
Robert Smith ah, man, they just came to Vancouver but I didn't make it to the show and neither of my two friends who love them with me were available, I hope your partner embarrassing was at top notch, for you and for me!
I was listening to this, and I thought, "Hey, this sounds kind of self destructive" and then I realized that that's exactly what this song is about- self-destructive behaviors. And some of them sound all too familiar to me. _"I cut myself, I jump on in."_
Interesting thing about Mother Mother is, they have alot of Songs about dysfunctional behavoiur and mental problems without being too explicit about it. It kinda became a fun game to listen to there songs and search for the hidden meanings.
This is the only band I've found where I like every single song I've listened to. I mean, that just doesn't happen to me. Fall Out Boy, Mystery Skulls and P!ATD come close but there`s always those songs where I hit 'skip'. Not with these guys. Quality music all the way through. Funny enough, I've got my mother to thank for introducing them to me.
This is definitely my favorite Mother Mother song. A dear friend of mine sent this to me a while ago, said it reminded her of me. Ever since, it's been helping me through hard times.. it's a reminder that somebody loves you and worries about you, even if you don't think anyone does.
The devil he's at my door, and I know what he came here for; the kind of fun that I adore, I let him enter to make some more. Fire it burned my skin, but I still want to play with it, like a shark fin in the swim; I cut myself and jump on in. Ahhhhh... Baby boy, baby brother, we're losing you to the gutter. A women she at my door, and too bad it's my best friends girl she's a cookin' up a civil war, I'm dumb enough to storm the shores yeah, there's a red light up ahead, I drive my car in to it, I'm a little kid with a big death wish, I bite the lips - the lips that kiss. Ahhhhh... Baby boy, baby brother, we're losing you to the gutter. Baby boy, baby brother, we're losing you is it forever? Baby boy, baby brother, we're losing you to the gutter. Baby boy, baby brother, we're losing you is it forever? The devil he's at my door, and I know what he came here for; the kind of fun that I adore, I let him enter to make some more.
i don’t even have a brother, but this song still makes me feel so much grief and sorrow i cannot even begin to explain it. still one of my favorite songs tho
@Gray7601 I found this, I think this is what they’re talking about. ua-cam.com/video/ceB_D8ETq64/v-deo.html About halfway through they start to go into how their sibling relationship has been affected by the band, and this song comes up.
Every time Mother Mother releases a new song I drop everything and listen to it nonstop for days...they're so creative with everything & their style never gets old.
Lyrics: The devil, he's at my door And I know what he came here for The kind of fun that I adore I let him enter to make some more Fire, it burn my skin But I still want to play with it, like a Shark fin in the swim I cut myself and jump on in Baby boy, baby brother We're losing you to the gutter A woman, she at my door And too bad it's my best friend's girl She's cooking up a civil war I'm dumb enough to storm the shores, yeah There's a red-light up ahead I drive my car into it I'm a little kid with a big death wish I bite the lips, the lips that kiss Baby boy, baby brother We're losing you to the gutter Baby boy, baby brother We're losing you, is it forever? We're all fucked up and Mother Mother gives us permission to embrace the despair instead of delusionally pretending like it doesn't exist, as we are all encouraged to do. That's my theory...
Mother Mother you guys rock!! I feel so blessed at the opportunity to experience your music. It resonates with me in such a powerful way and brightens my life. Thanks for doing what you do and doing it so well!
god i think this is my favorite no culture song so far. I just did a presentation on Mother Mother for my music class, for a "favorite artist project".
I remember in 2020, my mental health was the worst it had ever been. I don't remember much of it, but the stress of it all and being unprepared for it lead to a lot of mental health issues. I remember during that time in my life, I listened to this song almost all the time and found it relatable. It's interesting coming back to this two years later, knowing I found it during one of the worst moments of my life (that I can barely remember). But thank you for making this song.
Why do the songs from this album give me some weird nostalgia like I've heard them before.. somewhen. Anyway, I actually discovered this band because of some animation memes- no matter how cringy they actually are sometimes, the music is really good mostly. And now I've kinda become a fan of this band. Keep it up, Mother Mother- you're doing very well.
I only just heard this song the other night-while having a complete spiral no less-and it hits really hard as a sibling who has a strained relationship.
GOD THE FUCKING!! BREATHING LOMOTIF it sounds like the one from another song of them but in can't remember for shit what it was. it sounds like that more aggressive Edit: the song is Oleander
A random person told me about this album. I commented on their song "greif chapter" saying "yk the beginning of this song reminds me of the song i must cry out loud" and someome replied to my comment telling me about this album. Yes, i knew it existed but i really only knew the drugs and love stuck. Now im here listening to the full album, beautiful work again Mother Mother.❤
this is so different just like every time but gosh!! of course it's amazing!! I love everyone behind mother mother being able to bring us music like this
Quality music,,,Quality songs-singing! Funny...they are Rock,,,A wonderful new kind of Rock,,,you can understand all the lyrics ! CONGRATULATIONS to this band..They are awesome....!!!
"This song was written to be about Ryan Guldemond & Molly Guldemond’s relationship when they were younger. Molly sings about the fear of losing her little brother to bad habits and life threatening situations."
Even if we didn’t talk all the time cuz of bullying. I trusted them that they all actually wanted Tootoo join the marines with him also. Right now it’s looking more the with exceptions of Tink and cheetah that everyone else was just setting things up so that currently and unless something drastic changes and soon the all the us were alone and complex post traumatic stress disorder and PTSD with dissociation and at this point more at least for just me more.
At this point if Meghan Thomas and all them aren’t with us then they’re against us and with the Alex Jeffers from the Olympia that is not including in the rest of the us that is now also the Chicago with a few other places. The Alex Jeffers from Olympia Washington of the youncy or the youncy the pedofile. If your not on our side at this point and unless something changes drastically soon then your on his side completely against us especially me.
i really liked "alligators play", especially for the chorus. it was a B-side/ demo track that never got put onto an album, but it has the same verses as this. i guess they re purposed the lyrics.
its actually the opposite lol the older songs are much more popular, and now people just drop the band or only listen to the old ones cause they dont like the newer ones

Smart comment. You understand their lyrics.
Waking up with a youtube notification that Mother Mother has uploaded a new song, is the best feeling ever
Sjimme Conradi saw it at 5 am. had to resist blasting it. lol

Nice taste in mucic, though, dude.
SarcastiCat have you heard Gorillaz?
I have Nicolas, they're pretty good but like with the other mentioned bands I mentioned there's always some songs I'm not a fan of.
SarcastiCat oh ok

Corbin Sienna the fourth repetition of the chorus in the 2nd chorus is 'We're losing you, for forever.', rather than 'is it forever?'.
@@UsrnamePending actually, they're right. It's "is it forever?"
Thanks

I came here from the interview, to know that this song is a conversation that was difficult for Ryan and Molly. It gives the song a new perspective
Which interview? I'd like to know more.
