This is a comparison of the front quick hitches for the old 300 series (318 etc) the 4-5 tractors (425, 445, and 455), and the X4/5 and 7 series units.
Great video, very informative. You don't see the 300 series Quick Hitches too often. I have one on my 318 that I use a 54 QH blade and the 47 QH snowblower. You're right, you have to get a PTO attachment that fits right underneath the big bar of the QH. I put a video up of my Quick Hitch and Snowblower to show people how the QH looked on the JD 318.
Do you know how these hitches compare to one for a 1025r? If different can the tractor mounting bracket be changed if you get a good deal on an x series hitch to use on a 1025r
I just purchased a JD 400 GT, do you have any videos (or is it possible) adapting a 4x5 series (or any other for that matter) quick tatch to a 400? Thanks.
I have an X738. The hitch part number for the plow is different than that of the snowblower. I wonder what’s the difference and if they can be cross utilized?
Awesome! My only complain is that I can't have the front hitch on while the mower deck is on. Really frustrating if I need to push stuff with the plow.
I see you have a 425 based on the other comments you have. Unfortunately yes a deck cannot be hooked up at the same time a plow is.... BUT fortunately it can't be. Just my opinion but the number one way to spend $750-1500 is to leave the deck on the tractor when you are doing other work. Sure the decks (especially if it is a 60 inch deck for the 4-5) are heavy and a real pain to remove but its worth the 10 mins when you are concentrating on the front blade and run the deck into a tree root or some other hard object and bend the mounts or worse yet the deck itself and it wont cut level. Just something to keep in mind.
If I use a 4x5 quick hitch on an x series tractor can I use a 4x5 long pto? Looking at a 47” snowblower that is on a 4x5. I know I need to do some changes to the hydraulic lines. But do I need a different pto?
Is it appropriate to put an asterisk and say “item not shown”? I should remake this video now that I have a 420/430 QH! Don’t have a 420 or 430, but I have the hitch…. For when so find the tractor!
@@mmrbeef Hello! Love your video ! Got a 455 and a quick hitch. And just found a 47 snowblower and blade. They are currently on a X540. Am i correct they should work on my 455 and its own quick hitch ?
Yes, the blower will be the same if it uses the quick hitch. You will most likely need a different driveshaft and up stop for the blower and longer hoses for the chute rotation. I have a video of a Model 46 single stage blower that I was working on putting on both my x748 and 318. I don't have the x748 driveshaft.
So I found I quick hitch for my 430.. Guy wants $600 for it also has pto shaft.. Says he doesn't think its even been used... Is that a good deal? Another question will I need frame extension also, to hook quick hitch too?
I have a friend giving me a 46 blower and quick hitch off of an 4x5 series. Base on my research, it should fit but I need to get a different mid to front pto kit. What is the proper pto shaft kit needed to make this all work and any other parts needed?
@@mmrbeef I am putting this setup onto my x485. I have done some research on Deere site and other forums. I think I need BM20652 for the front PTO kit, BM20896 for the hydraulic retro kit with the angle adapters, and BM25772 which has the PTO shaft. I think this BM25772 has the upstop and the AM148739 shaft in the kit. Odd, the kit is cheaper than buying the AM148739 only. But based on what I have seen, if you are using a 4x5 hitch on an x series, you dont need the upstop. I figure get it if I ever switch to an x series hitch, I would have the part already. But I would like your experience doing putting the 46 blower on an x-series if you think my thought process is correct on parts for this.
No such thing as a 46 blower. They made a 46 thrower. I'm amazed at the amount of people that don't know the difference between a snow blower and a snow thrower.
@@transbam4502 I have chosen to feel sorry for your ignorance in me asking a simple question. Yes, I know there is a difference between the 46 and 47 attachments. You simply are just looking to prove a point that is unnecessary because the size of the machines notes the difference of the implement type when they both in fact move snow around. Go lick the bottom of a shoe and see what happens.
The x series hitches will not fit the 425 however the 425 hitch will fit the X series. The hitches are forward compatible but not backwards compatible.
Is there any strength or usability advantages of the 400 vs X700 quick hitch on an X740 if both fit that machine? Would you make the video putting the 400 QH on your X748? Thanks, JW ps: Get more sleep, your yawning is contagious even over video.
The hitches are functionally the same and neither have major flaws. I don't have the 400 series hitch anymore, since I don't need one for my 455 I figured I could reinvest in other items. If I end up with another hitch I will certainly make that video.

Would a 420 430 blade fit my x758 tractor
Is there a part # for the 420/430 hitch
Thank you

To me $600 for the QH and PTO set up sounds pretty reasonable to me. Yes you would need a frame extension to connect the QH.
it seems like (based on QH) that 4x5 Little Buck loader would also work on a X-series?
Yes, something set up for a 4-5 tractor will work on an X series. It does not work in reverse... at least with OEM equipment.
I've found a 4x5 54" blade/QH combo...can I mount, or modify to fit on my 1986 318?
It would be a lot of cutting and welding.

Will any of these work on a 1025R
The hitch is similar but it tractor attaching point is different.
For JD x748 how much for used quick hitch unit would you pay?
A general range is $400-600 depending on condition and it is has the angle cylinder.

@@mmrbeef thanks, I found a 400 style Q.H. just wanted to make sure it fit the X740 before I spent the $$.
I modified a x series hitch for my 425 pretty easy in about 2 hours
Modifications are based on the preexisting knowledge of welding and having a welder. Easy for some folks but a skill set others do not have.
