  • Here is a brief tutorial of how to install a quick hitch and 54" plow on a John Deere x739 garden tractor. The process only takes a few minutes to complete and is pretty straightforward!
    This same procedure will apply to any X7xx Series garden tractor and many older tractor models as well. While not identical, the same general concept applies to the 1 Series and 2 Series family of John Deere tractors. You'll notice that I've added a pair of 9" plow extensions to my blade which brings the total width to 72"! These are made by Superior Tech and sold through your local John Deere dealer.

    Excellent, excellent video! Clear, concise, exactly what I needed to set up my 445. And, best of all, none of that acid rock music some submitters feel they absolutely must attach to their video.
    To the 11 thumbs-downers. WHAT were you expecting that was not delivered? The video is how to attach a quick hitch and snowblade. Done! If you were expecting unicorns and rainbows, you should have looked elsewhere. Some people's kids!!!!

    Thanks to you for taking the time to make this video. I just bought a nice old 445 with this same blade setup. I was thinking that I`d just sell the blade, but after watching your video, that isn`t going to happen.

    Nice video. I do the same with my snowblower, but found if you drop your blade on a 4 wheel moving dolly you don’t have to lift it when connecting or disconnecting to the tractor and easy to store in the garage

    I live in a double wide trailer. I have a chain hoist I hook to the I-beam and lift the whole blade off at one time.

    Great Video. I bought a used X-750 and the color on the hydraulic lines coming from the plow did not have the color caps. So I don’t know what gets plugged into the tractor. It also did not come with a owners manual. I don’t want to damage the hydraulics plugging the wrong lines in the wrong place.

    Do they make an adapter kit for hydraulic lines from a jd445 snow plow, to x758? X758 takes a 90 degree bend as the end of houses and mine are a foot short

      Hi, one of the two levers will angle the blade. The other will raise and lower.

    How much extra resistance does putting 18 inches more on the plow make in a foot and a half of wet snow? Also with the plow being 9 inches longer how is the twisting or stress on the blade frame and hydraulics if you were to clip a hard snowbank or curb on the tip of the plow?

      Good question, but I'm not sure how to quantify that. I would find it hard to believe that John Deere would offer them if a big concern though.

      This year I used a 1025r for mowing and my 3046r for landscaping projects and most service work for customers (tilling, brush hogging, clearing, food plots, etc).

      It's less like buying a lawn mower, and more like a full blown tractor! So cool! Anyone got 15 grand extra laying around for me to buy one? It would make my day. But drooling aside, nice video!

    Can you clarify what hose goes where. I bought a used quick hitch and it doesn’t have the colored caps. I seem to have up and down okay, side to side there’s. a bit of a delay (maybe because my deck is still attached). Is there a lockout valve on an x730 somewhere (just got the tractor too-used).

    • @randyperkins8825
      @randyperkins8825 4 роки тому +1

      Found info in manual on lockout valve. Sounds like it’s something that needs installed to avoid delays (which is what I’m having on side to side movement. Up and down works good. To match sticker on floor board (as far as raising and lowering) I had to put hose from top of cylinder in GREEN (B in manual) coupler and hose from bottom of cylinder in BLACK (A in manual). Haven’t found anything yet on side to side (some combination of SILVER and YELLOW (D and E in manual).

    is there a way to disengage the deck lift when you are using the snow blade

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  4 роки тому

      Good question. If I recall correctly, you can rotate the deck height adjustment knob to the highest position, there might even be a "lock" symbol which essentially keeps the arms locked in the highest position at all times.
      Also, there is a diverter valve that you can buy if you get a snowplow or snowblower. It is easy enough to install. It will be located on the backside of the hydraulic quick couplers. It has a little black knob that you can turn, allowing you to open and close the valve. Essentially, it will bypass the mower lift circuit and make hydraulic response faster for the quick hitch/snow plow.

    Just bought a new X758 and I’m strongly considering getting the 54in quick hitch blade. Just curious. How heavy are the quick hitch and the blade seperately? It looks like you weren’t really struggling to grab and hook them up to your machine. Would I want get like a little dolly to move them around or are they light enough that you could throw them up on a heavy duty wall hook or shelf for storage?

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  4 роки тому +2

      Howdy, they aren't too bad if you are just scooting along the ground. However, I struggled a bit when I was putting the blade in my F350 truck bed. With the wing extensions on it, it's not the funnest thing to move around, haha!

  • @rmcdaniel423
    @rmcdaniel423 4 роки тому

    J.D. calls this a "quick hitch". Sales guy proceeds to show how you have to attach the part, to the other part on your tractor that you previously attached, and then you can attach the blade to the "quick" part. By bending over and lifting the whole thing with your middle aged sore back. I'm no expert, for sure. But I feel like I'm missing something here.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  4 роки тому
