  • Welcome to another video!
One of my bigger red fleshed apples fell off the tree so it's time to try it!
This variety is called Odysso, which is another one of the Redlove series of cultivars bred by Markus Kobelt.
    This apple was delicious!
To me it tastes like an amazing apple mixed with sour cherry, and in the highly pigmented areas notes of blackberry. So good!
    Thank you for watching!

Really nice colours, well done. I am waiting for my first ever apples from my young low chill trees, should be ready around Christmas hopefully, if the tiny branches don't break under the weight of the fruit

Thank you! Nice, when you do, they'll be delicious I'm sure. Anything homegrown far excites the things we buy in the store. I'd maybe support the branches somehow though? Just to make ensure they don't break.

I have the two Redlove varieties "Calypso" and "Kohlhaas" planted, and I can't friggin' wait for them to produce. But alas, I've only planted them last year, so they're still too young. But damn, I can't friggin' wait.

They're entirely different than a regular apple. The creator Markus Kobelt calls it a different fruit, and I can see why. They're more than just your standard apple. I'd be curious to know what you think. Good luck and I hope they produce soon!

Really digging the music choice, lol, I just planted 2 firecracker trees and I hope they make it through the freeze because this looks awesome!

Jazeker! Dat is het voordeel als je een tuinman bent, krijg je het lekkerste en unieke fruit te eten (en later misschien ook groenten voor mij, zodra ik meer ruimte heb). :D

Hi, i grew red-fleshed apples from seeds. I grew them from seeds because there are no existing apples in my location. Is it possible that the resulting seedlings will inherit the red-fleshed characteristic of the parent tree where it came from? Thanks

Absolutely, you'd be most likely to get red fleshed apples if both parents were red fleshed. Do note that apples are extremely genetically diverse, so there's still a chance they won't be red fleshed. This is why planting as many seeds as possible will increase your odds, if possible.

That sounds like it tastes really good! Can new trees be rooted from scion wood?

    • @DutchmansNursery
      @DutchmansNursery  2 роки тому

They are! Technically yes, but I've tried it twice now and failed. They don't grow roots readily, which is why they're grafted onto rootstock.

What zone are you in? Would you consider selling scions?

I'm in zone 8b. The goal in the near future is to sell grafted trees, I'll let everyone know once that happens. Thank you for your interest!

    Why is this so small?

One of the red apples? I allowed it to produce too much, I should've thinned the tree more.

Any chance for seeds I can buy

Thank you for your interest! Not currently, however I pollinate my red fleshed apples with one of the other red fleshed apple flowers, and the plan is to grow the resulting seeds out and sell the trees.
