  • The Chamber's May 5th Emerging Issues Forum featured an update on the Tri-City Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) Project from Aaron Byzak, Chief External Affairs Officer for Tri-City Medical Center. Discussion points included:
    • Tri-City Medical Center is partnering with the County of San Diego to construct and operate a 16-bed, adult, inpatient Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF)
    • This facility is proposed to be built in an existing parking lot on the west side of the Tri-City Medical Center campus in Oceanside
    • The PHF will provide inpatient care after a patient has been stabilized at one of the new Crisis Stabilization Units (CSUs) in Oceanside and Vista or from a local Emergency Room (ER)
    • Expected to be considered at the June 13th Oceanside Planning Commission Meeting
    • Have received well over a dozen letters of support from a wide-array of community partners and issue groups including the chambers of commerce, San Diego EDC, NAMI San Diego, the NAACP, LGBTQ Center of North County, Solutions for Change, Operation HOPE - North County and others
    • Construction is expected to take approximately 14 months
    • This project is one of several major development at the medical center including:
    o Emergency Room remodel to begin later this year
    o Installation of a new 3 Tesla MRI in our radiology center
    o And more…
