I have some used vinyl fencing that I would like to re-use. The posts are 7' x5"x5". You say we should fill up post with dirt to ground level after setting it in concrete. It seems like the post will already be filled with concrete inside when it is set in the concrete. I guess what you do is place post in hole first, then shovel concrete around outside of post. There would be no advantage to putting concrete inside post at ground level I guess.
Thank you. That was very informative

What if your not doing it on flat ground, like a slight incline how would you go about making sure the posts are same height
Just curious, but wouldn't it be better to put concrete into the post too instead of dirt.
How long were your 3 rail 5 1/2" posts? Mine are 6 feet. You say 54" above ground so the posts would be 18" in the ground.

If you do fill the inside with concrete it will be better but it's more expensive.
