I was born and raised in Waco when 35 was a two lane gravel highway not a big interstate . I have to say i am not happy about the gaines attempts to destroy the historical sites to make a money pot. recently about tearing down a historical church and trying to add to their business to make a dollar off of it. Waco was a beautiful city and i was just born when the tornado hit but the people was strong and rebuilt . when i hear people refer to it as wacko not Waco i get hot. the people were strong and there is so much to see and enjoy the history. please do not destroy all of the memories that lives there. i never hear anyone talk about the passenger trains that used to run through there and the places they went. the square was a important part of the history and the tornado took it away but in our minds that lived there it still is beautiful and enjoy the Saturday's we spend shopping, eating , and walking around . remember that we are all loyal to our city and will always remember the real Waco Texas . past memories are the best . mary hodges

Uhh, the highest temperature Waco has had is 114.
As a local, every place he said is great. Except Waco would take a full day to take it all in. Everything is cheap here... except anything tagged along with Magnolia.
TLDR: spend one full day in Waco, go to the places he mentioned. Magnolia is expensive but everything else is dirt cheap

The compound wasn't in Waco, mate. It was located in Axtell, Texas (23 kilometers from Waco). I have a feeling you know this very well, but want to give Waco a proper bad reputation. Inaccurate rubbish aside, you are indeed a colourful comedic genius, with an undeniable quick witty mind.

@@420bigsmoke3 Why no mention of the site where our police murdered 9 MEN and then arrested 200 witnesses and tried to charge them all for what they did? Why no mention of our fine sheriff and his jail that chains tortures rapes and cages innocent people? Why no mention of our famous court house where we let the BAYLOR students go with no jail time for rape? Our famous lake Waco triple murder site? We also arrest more people per capita than Russia, we need 350 fresh head a month to meet our contract requirement to the for profit prison. If we don't get the 350 head the local government officials have to pay it out of what they are stealing. Our taxes doubled this last year as well. The locals are to poor to make up the 350 head we really need tourists who can afford bonds and Baylor Attorneys. Our courts are run by BAYLOR. So please do more videos on Waco.

If anyone knows - I was wondering what Wacos role within the Texas/Texan Governments City Strategic plan. I was thinking it had something to do with logistics and transit since Waco is in the center of all the larger Eastern Texas cities, but not sure..... I didn't know Waco was in such a strategic place within the state. I don't think most people realize that as everyone knows about Dallas/Houston/San Antonio/Austin and have no clue about Waco or its strategic location....

Would not recommend. I stayed in a community lodge ran by a nice Christian man who quoted scripture a lot and the atf raided the place and burned it down

I'm a Californian. I've gone through Waco 3 three times. When I think of Waco, I think of a traditional Texas town. And the history associated with Waco. Racism and lynchings. Of course the lynchings have stopped. But I suspect that there's still a lot of racism in Waco. Am I right? The area looks charming. But I'd rather stay on the 1-35.
to give you a more humble answer compared to the guy above, (most) of the people of Waco are far from racist. It has it's diversity, so no (to answer your question), there are more diverse neighborhoods in some parts of town than the typical mostly white neighborhood.

If you think that's bad look up the Waco siege with Branch davidians and David Koresh.
Stay in California and deal with your own problems befor posting speculative slander about other places.
I enjoyed visiting the ruins of Mount Carmel, paying respects to those men, women, and children who died for what they believed in. They died trying to defend themselves from a tyrannical government. RIP BRANCH DAVIDIANS.
Also another little tidbit for you. Did you know that the sniper who murdered Randy Weavers unarmed wife as she held his infant child, was also here picking off women and children?

Good video but you are leaving out alot of Waco's dark past. Especially its very racist past. Many public lynchings happened right in downtown Waco no less than 80yrs ago not far from where Baylor University sits currently. You have to tell the whole story not just some verbatim script to make people want to visit. Also you forgot about the native american sites near by and George Bush's ranch....;-(
Jeremy Jones this is an awesome observation!!! It’s an issue we wrestle with all the time. I agree with you, we always need to be more sensitive and inclusive of every angle while still not “short changing” the subject matter. These short videos will grow in duration with more information included and the result is lower viewership (because the dang thing is too long). But! It’s sad that traveling isn’t the same for everyone. This is pertinent information for someone like me. I was thinking I’d like to visit Waco. But the truth is I wouldn’t be safe or welcome there.
