Most of the information provided in this Biography segment is highly innacurate.
The visionary for Las Vegas and casino was a guy by the name of William Richard "Billy" Wilkerson, who was a real estate developer. For years Wilkerson developed several businesses, including clubs, hotels, and it was Wilkerson who came with the idea of a hotel and casino named The Flamingo Hotel.
Wilkerson approached Siegel to provide food, liquor, gambling and celebrities for the hotel. However, Siegel is said to have coerced, threatening to kill Wilkerson, who needed capital to finish the hotel, if he did not sell the Flamingo to Siegel and the mob. It is reported Wilkerson fled to Paris for a few years in fear of his life. Wilkerson returned to the United States and died in Los Angeles at age 71 in 1962.
In essence, this whole "Bugsy" Siegel as being the visionary and "father" of Las Vegas is simply historically innacurate and a big lie perpetrated by Hollywood. The only true facts in this segment is that Siegel was a thief, thug, gangster, and a killer. It is segments like this one, another reason people do not believe any mediums of information, because the essential message is fake, innacurate, and a big lie.

It’s true, Billy Wilkerson created the Flamingo. But hang on a second, the TRUE father of the Las Vegas Strip wasn’t either Wilkerson or Seigel. The true visionary of the Las Vegas Strip Resort was Thomas Hull, the guy who built El Rancho Vegas in ‘41/42 .
TRUE TRUE and TRUE! It makes for a great story to think that a notorious gangster was the father of Las Vegas, didn't happen. Bugsy is no doubt a part of Vegas history but he was not an innovator or visionary. If he had kept Wilkerson on to finish the Flamingo, he would have lived a lot longer
