    Thanks for your videos. I have a 2010 Explorer and was looking for advise to prepare it for mild off-roading while also keeping it as a daily driver. I'm going to follow your videos as a guide.

    3rd gen + explorers actually have extreme potential off-road when equipped with the advance trac system. Idk if yours has it but the explorers with advance trac, hardcore jeep guys go after. They can be pretty damn capable with just a lift and some tires if they have the advance trac

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  8 років тому +1

      I have a Jeep too, not sure what transmission that advance trac xfer case would bolt up to, but mostly we prefer selectable ratio cases. Would like to find a compatible manual xfer case for my Explorer sometime even though I have already dont the "brown wire mod" to give me true 2 wheel drive.

      When the weather breaks I can do a re-cap. Its pretty simple, take the struts out, bolt spacer on top, re-install strut, alignment shop.

    On the suspension lift, did you go with the spacers for the struts? I tried the 3" for the front and they would not fit for anything.

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  4 роки тому

      I definitely did not do 3" in the front, I think it was 2.5" and 2" in the rear.

      @@HawkeyeSkunkWorks I appreciate the reply, I just ordered the 2.5 for the front. 3" is definitely not recommended for the front lol. What's your thoughts on going 2" body lift instead of the 1.5? Think ill be ok. Love your videos BTW brother.

    I hope someone reads this. I have an 02 ranger for a daily driver. It is not a bad truck with the 3.0l. Has the power and fuel I need. However, I'm like 6 foot 3 and I guess short people don't understand it's really hard fitting in a small truck or car everyday. Trying to look for something a little roomy like an SUV like this you know. Nothing expensive or weird or too big. Any good recommendations? I'm a Chevy person but shoot, every car is gonna have problems

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  6 років тому

      VowSwerve I could be wrong but I’m thinking there would be more “head room” in a gen 3 or 4 Explorer than the Rangers, they did always feel a little more cramped than any of the Explorers.

    • @TKGP1986
      @TKGP1986 6 років тому

      I am 6 foot 1 and weigh almost 300 pounds. I have an 02 explorer with the 3rd row. We have three kids and with car seats and kids, I fit really well and have plenty of room in my explorer. Even with the rear facing car seat behind me. I used to drive a 91 ranger extended cab and for me to fit right I felt like I had to set in the extended cab part. Haha.

    I want to do a lift on my 03 explorer to fit 33×12.50r15 what size lift and where can I get one, I've searched but only found explorer sport trac lift or older explorer lifts. anyone help??

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  7 років тому

      The suspension lift and body lift set up that I have would just about let you clear 33's. If you ran a slightly bigger strut spacer youd be able to clear them no problem. Be aware though, your suspension travel is really going to be limited. Check ebay for struct spacers or BTF fab. www.btf-fab.com/explorer.html IF you are really going to run 15" rims make sure to get ones with enough backspacing/offset to clear the brakes. Im not sure what that measurement is but I do know guys run them.

    • @jacobmoore9897
      @jacobmoore9897 7 років тому

      just out of curiosity were did you get your lift at? I heard the body lifts show the frame so was gonna go with suspension lift. but I've been searching but can't find anything.

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  7 років тому +1

      1.5' body lift doesnt show the frame too much. Rear lift is from BTF, front is from eBay. Make sure to check out the rest of my videos too, it'll explain everything. Im working on another mod video too.

    is E load a bad dirt tire? 265/75/16 on a 03 EXP no lift or should I go with a 285/75/16?

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  7 років тому

      Its not a bad tire. E rated just means theres more plys, which means its a thicker tire meant for full size trucks that are going to be hauling heavy loads. Because its thicker, its heavier and rides more harshly. FYI that was a really short and simple explanation.

    • @BORNAGAINKJB
      @BORNAGAINKJB 7 років тому

      cool cus i just got some 265/75/16 with 16threads for my 03xlt4x4 do you think I'll get any rubbing? I'm running 3'' hub centric spacers on my stock rm, also what lift spacers would you recommend for the smallest lift possible like 1" or 11/2 thanks.

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  7 років тому

      With 3" wheel spacers Id say you almost definitively are going to rub. Amazon or eBay are going to be your best best for body lift block. I got 3" ones one Amazon and cut them down to 1.5".

      The set up seen in this video is approx. 2.5" suspension lift, 265/65r17 General Grabber AT2 tires with 1.5" wheel spacers. I had the tires before I put on the suspension lift, I should have gone with 265/70r17 tires, I dont think they would have rubbed, even with no lift or spacers.

      things that have real value are tangible assets that aren't stored in banks. The banking system today is a store of numbers, the value of which can be diminished by any number of events.

      his overcompensator? he has videos offroading this rig. flawed logic before the conversation even started. thats the only thing you really wanted to get out wasnt it? wasnt the idea that maybe driving offroad and through mud was fun?
      reasons to buy a ford explorer.
      1 cheap and readily available.
      2. parts are pretty cheap and readily available. videos on youtube of different repairs.
      3. most come with auto 4x4, nice sound, spacious cargo area, and ability to tow.
      4. has a full frame.
      5. you have no fucking clue what a full frame even is.
      6. turning radius and short length make it a nimble vehicle out on the trails.
