Great review Rob! I don’t have the A1 Pro but I do have the original A1 and love it. I’ve had it for over a decade now and it is still one of my favorite knives, particularly in the winter time. It’s still my go to knife for winter bushcrafting because I can baton larger pieces of wood and I don’t have to worry about it rusting in all the snow and damp. I have plenty of other large knives that can baton larger pieces of firewood but none as well as the A1. That high saber/convex grind goes through wood like and axe. Usually a couple of whacks with the baton is all that is required and the log just splits apart as though I hit it with an axe.
So a recap: not the best chopper no perfect feathersticks not the best firesteel scaper lot of vibration to the point it hurts ..... but it's your favorite knife? I don't want to know what your most disliked knife is like then😁
Fantastic review as usual Rob you no what you'd be able to make a feather stick with bloody conan the barbarians sword skilled man . Ow and I love it when you put in your bloopers at the end pissing my self 😂
Mmm I really want a Fällkniven knife. Great use case you mentioned there with splitting in a more confined space where you wouldn’t want to swing an axe. 👌🏻⭐️
I know that a lot of people claim these fallkniven knives are excellent and can do anything you throw at them. But as I saw in this video and others are proving light work like shaving kindling or making feather sticks is great. But when doing heavy carving or in a destruction test I saw this knife break just trying to pry it out of a piece of wood. A guy called Joe X used the knife to see how much it could take in a destruction test, this so-called super steel broke just trying to pry it out of a log. These knives are for bushcraft light use. but I prefer the cold steel San Mai srk as it comes extremely sharp out of the box. And on Joe's Destruction test, the San Mai srk knife took a lot more beating than this dungy knife. I watch Survival Lily's review on the High and Mighty Falkniven s1 the reimagined cold steel srk 3V steel blade. It failed horribly. She put it through its paces cutting open the coconuts and using the S1 as she would in any survival situation stuck on a tropical island. The sheathes are junk and cheaply made. Her s1 chipped and rolled horribly. Imho the Falkniven knives are more hype than practical. My brother bought an A1 pro and did bushcraft processing deer cutting wood batoning, eating, etc. And it chipped all the way down the blade. He showed me the blade and I tested the srk I sharpened my srk and it didn't chip or role during my meat, food, and wood processing I cut the thick rope and paracord I have, and the srk never dulled if you know how to properly use a knife. Watch Joe X A1 Pro destruction test and see how easily it breaks. Then watch Joe X Channel srk, San Mai knife destruction test. The srk takes a lot more punishment than the hype behind the Falkniven A1 pro crappy super steel that breaks easily while prying it out of a log. If a man can snap a super steel just by pulling it out of a log what good it?
Hi! I can't find your fallkniven A2L review anymore... Are you going to re-review it? Has your opinion changed on the A2? Does the length increase lf the A2 hinder too many tasks to be worth it over the A1? Thanks for your real world reviews!
I have the A1 pro and the A2 which would meet your needs for a bigger bowie type knife. I don't like the thinner bowies, I like fallkniven's A2 profile much better. I carry my A1 pro everywhere out in the woods and purchased a high riding kydex sheath for it with a tek-lok mount. I carry the A2 if I'm more serious about processing wood.
I have an obsession with my knives but I only have one axe and one saw and I love them like family...I could break an expensive knife and not be upset... I'd be pretty mad if my axe or saw broke but in 4 years they are still in pristine condition
A1 pro definitely on my wish list.👍
What did the Log do when it met A1?
decided to split … … … 🥁

They are great knives, I've had falkys since 2001 and love them
Excellent review! I’ve been looking at Fallkniven knives for a while now. Might be a good time to pick one up.
That CoS steel is pretty fantastic.
I like it, especially on a larger blade.
Absolutely, CoS is great. The Modern Bowie (CoS) + F1 (CoS) + Silky Saw = top combination.
So a recap:
not the best chopper
no perfect feathersticks
not the best firesteel scaper
lot of vibration to the point it hurts ..... but it's your favorite knife?

@donz8501 that would be the ER selvans.
2 Videos in one day!!!! Awesome!!
I love my A1xb. Such a great knife! Btw love Maiden. Brings back great high school memories of listening the Maiden and Manowar!
KINGS OF METAL!!
I have the A1X, great knife, the plastic sheat is cheapest.
Your review is great thanks 😊

Cheers mate.

How does it compare to the modern Bowie Rob? Planning to get an A1 x to be re handled but tempted by the bigger blade
If I needed money I'd sell the Bowie before the A1x, and I'd prefer the cold steel sanmai trailmaster to the model Bowie any day.
Didn’t realise the cold steel san Mai trail master was that much cheaper
@@markwareham2289 oh yes!
Great review Rob. I’m on the fence between 2 versions, if you were going to purchase an A1 today, would you purchase the A1 Pro or the A1 X? Thanks.
X mate, it's cheaper, more resilient to a beating and you can replace the scales.
@@RobEvansWoodsman Thanks Rob. I’ll take your advice.

I'll take a look, a1 pro is 7mm thick, how you he break that, just for the record I'm not a fan of joeX destruction videos.
👍Great Rob, a1pro or a1x which do you think is better or which do you prefer?
I like them both but the X is cheaper so wins!
Another great knife Rob! Do you prefer the pro handle before A1x?
It's more comfortable but could be a bit bigger
@@RobEvansWoodsman What do you prefer, the A1pro or the A1x?
Hi! I can't find your fallkniven A2L review anymore...
Are you going to re-review it?
Has your opinion changed on the A2?

I've taken it down to re-edit it, it'll be back up soon.
I really like the A2
Oh great! I can't wait to see the re-edit 😄 thanks

I also have an A2.
Okay Top secret, i odered it now and separately the leather sheat 😂😂😂
Well done, it's a dam good knife.
