If you decide to release the track with the sampled content, what steps do you need to take for getting a release from the original artist? And what if you can't reach them? Also, could you talk in your vlog about the legality of sampling and using samples in music you want to release?
Issa Mukhar I know this comment is super old so you might not see this, but if you release a mixtape you don’t have to clear samples. You only have to clear samples if you’re signed to a label and they’re legal hurdles to overcome.
Michael Muncher that’s a lie. If you don’t plan on selling it and you don’t profit from it, then it’s unlikely you’ll cop a lawsuit but, that isn’t guaranteed. Many many artists have been and still are being sued over use of copyright material on these mixtapes.
Jon Sine thanks haha and it looks lot a lot of fun! maybe I'll invest in a cheap record player one day. Keep up the great videos and the work in the studio ya killer
Hi Jon, I have been watching some of your vlogs over the last weeks. I must say you make interesting videos. Your vlogs are honest and down to earth. Unlike some other vlogs which are all about Bling and the fast life. The producer/DJ life is a struggle for most people in this business and you talk honestly about it. All this time, until this video i did not know you were into R&B/Hiphop music and that you started out as a DJ. I am also a "Urban" DJ for a long time and only recently started with music productions. I may have been a DJ for a long time, but the music production business and everything that comes with it feels like a whole different world... For now i work with (ghost) producers untill I figure everything out myself. I admire you for making daily videos. I am lucky if i post 1 or 2 short instagram videos every week, hehe. Keep up the good work. By the way, I live in Roermond, close to Dusseldorf ;)
When learning basic music theory and practicing it, what would be the recommended amount of keys on the keyboard? Theres just too much to choose from.. Thanks in advance!:)
if your playing complex melodys try 64 or 88 if your just doing basic bass lines do 25 and 49 is kind of the middle spot. if your learning i would say 49 or 64 but do whatever u want.
Nice! I got pretty inspired to go sample some vinyl! I have some old sample records from a while back too. Great idea! You should DEFINITELY do more videos sampling your records and maybe show more?
I really liked your video!!!! Me and my girlfriend own a production company called "The Outlet Unplugged" its total DIY we are in the Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania area. We organize music spoken word, physical art, ect. events, book bands, connect bands to venues, do a lot do lot of promo, interviews, bios, live sound promo recording, mixing mastering, live Recording at shows, I do the sound for the events, I run the social media for our Facebook page we have an archive page 2 of all the recorded materials that we have done at shows, I like to record everything I can for posterity there is a local music scene in the Lehigh Valley. Anywhere you go there's maybe five or six established big bands in the area that play the same 10 venues every month that is not a good representation of what is actually happening we book the musicians and artist that are producing material we promote them at venues and like I said we try to record as much as possible because we want the local scene to grow. If you do a show with us it's more than just a show, our main goal is to build a sense of unity within the local music community and to cultivate the scene and to give chances to the artists and musicians to cultivate the scene. We do so much more if I kept talking this post would be 10 miles long. I also-rans write my own music but my main thing that I love doing is sound reinforcement documenting the local scene and being a sound tech thank you so much
So...you can only buy ur breakfast with cash and can't find rechargeable batteries . I really think these videos were recorded in 1987. Hahaha... Keep up the good work man, ur videos really inspire me to do more with music.
TIP: *you never need a 9V battery*. Just use a 9V power supply with a 9V battery adapter, which comes with most guitar pedal power supplies. You can probably spend 10 or 15 box on ebay to get what you need. If you can spend more and don't want to be plugged into the wall you can get a rechargeable power bank with an internal battery which can be useful for a bunch of devices at the same time, and you just need that adapter cable.
Something is wrong with your mic i think. I have had mine for 2 years now, and i have only switched batteries twice. Maybe you should talk to Røde about it.
Its illegal to make profit from sampled music without obtaining permission. Though any music published before 1927 in which copyright automatically expires (classed as in the public domain) can be used commercially for profit unless the copyrights have been obtained by someone else or renewed then it's still illegal at that point. It's always advised to inform yourself before considering sampling for commercial purposes (Profit).
A decent Vinyl DJ even just a fanatic that plays on just one deck for entertainment at home will always use a brush or atleast clean their records just before they go on the turntable .. All the ones you've been grabbing whole handed you're best off deep cleaning now... Maybe mention this for beginners 👍
Its his fav record... DONT HOLD IT LIKE THAT 😅
*grips the the record fully in his hand
"I'll make sure to keep good care of this"
@@Alpine97 hahahaha i noticed it too

In your next video would you mind talking about the differences between sampling digitally vs via vinyl records?
basically the same. vinyl is a bit more work but has more character depends on the sound your going for

Do check polarity and amperage, obviously.

maybe the batteries where already used or old. will give it another chance and test it with other batteries
Great record Collection
how about copyright when you are sampling?

You shouldn't hold them on the grooves.
Jon.. Please be respectful on how you handle/hold your vinyl (your friends) records. DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THE ACTUAL PLAYING SURFACE...thankyou!
