Hi guys! In today's video I'll review the new 7Artisans 4mm f2.8 fisheye lens on my Canon EOS M100 (24mpx). This extreme fisheye lens is very funny to use and I love the results I'm getting with it.
This lens can be really useful if you work with nature, macro, landscape, cityscape, astro and vitual reality photography.
Talking about video, I don't have an Aps-c or m43 4k camera...so I wasn't able to test this lens in video. I think that this lens will produce very interesting prospectives for music videos, or other crazy creative shots, if you own a BMPCC4 or 6K, Sony FX30, Fujifilm X-T4, X-T5 or H2 and H2S.
This lens was provided by 7Artisans, to be able to create an honest video review of the product, without any obligations.

Really cool! gave me some cool ideas in my car photography, i use to use a fish eye lens to film skateboarding when I was younger.
That's awesome! Thanks for watching!
Very nice video! It's a fun lens!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks a helpful resume.
Glad it was helpful!
Great review Luca. Thanks. I'm on the fence between this and the Laowe 4mm. I think the Laowe - maybe a touch sharper & can create better sunstars stopped down. However in the UK it's about twice the price of the 7artisans. As its the type of lens that would get used occasionally and for a bit of fun, then the 7artisans would more than likely do the job.
I think a good way to avoid feet and head getting the the shot, would be to pre focus, use the timer and mount on a small travel tripod at arms length. I guess with this kind of lens, it could be set at near infinity and everything would be in sharp focus, unless subject is extremely close. 👍
Thank you! I wouldn't spend too much for such an occasional lens. Probably this 7artisans will be good enough for you. Cheers!
I just ordered one of these today because it looks like a fun lens to play around with & at $149 it's not going to disappoint me if I don't like it. I was going to get the apsc version for my Sony A7RV and put the camera in crop mode, but at the last second decided to get the micro four thirds version and use it with my Olympus EM1-MIII.
I think that in m43 it will be even better! Have fun with it. Cheers!
Great video, Luca! Those lenses are quite a lot different! :)
Thank you Shane! Yeah, this lens is pretty interesting ✌🏻
I know of fisheye lenses for more than 40 years. I never found a use for them, I never could warm up to them. I was thinking that maybe this video may change my perspective on such lenses a bit, but unfortunately it didn't. People who like to experiment may come to a different conclusion, though. And some of the photos where actually quite nice.
Thank you so much! I totally understand your point about fisheye lenses. Cheers!
Any chance to mount it on Canon 70d with ef-s mount 🤔🙏?
No, you can't...sorry
4 mm, oh wow, never seen these numbers. But how much information will I lose if I apply lens distortion correction for it?
Yeah, it's crazy wide! You'll be good with 100% crop. Cheers!
@@LucaBono.Studio but I saw a few examples with that black circle around, is it on a full frame?
No, I've taken the pictures with an Aps-C camera. If you crop to 100%, you'll fill the 3:2 frame with the picture (you still have 12mp, that is enough for prints)
Have you tried shooting any video with it?
Hi! Yes, I did but the video quality of the Canon m100 isn't that great. With a 4k or 6k camera this lens will produce great fisheye footage!
