The 2023 osu world cup is well underway, and things have devolved into chaos. Teams like South Korea has performed as expected, however teams like the United States and Poland, not so much. There are teams that have made leaps and bounds to reach superstardom, while other teams with expectations collapsed under the pressure. There have been upsets galore, and everything that we've come to expect is now a myth, because at any given week, the tournament was bound for craziness. This is by far the craziest OWC to date because everything that has happened. No one could tell what would happen next, but one thing is for sure: this year, the 2023 osu World Cup makes no sense. How you ask? Well, let's find out.

Holy shit the Faker reference was so funny and wasn't something I expected to hear in an osu video. Quite poetic to see T1 and SK win on the same day. Massive congrats on both teams.
I am a Filipino and despite PH losing that match, they still did well and they should keep their heads high as they still did their best. But hey if we're going down the osu!mania route, we make it to finals but lose and then surely we win it next year, right? Clueless

If mrekk won OWC:
- Vaxei lost h2h in numbers of day spent as n.1
- whitecat lost because he doesn't have the title
- cookiezi lost because even tho he might still have the most number of days spent as n.1, mrekk hold his position better

Deseeding honestly is an advantage though like, canada is an extremely strong team and being able to match up against other strong teams on an easier mappool would reduce the gap of skill and gets them chances to knock them down into losers. Though i guess they have won in a pretty convincing manner but im still unsure how they would've performed against them on a more difficult mappool
It also means you have to face more difficult teams more often though... If they had actually seeded normally, they likely would have gone up against Russia or PH in semis, and possibly won and made it to finals, where they likely would have lost to SK and been in the same spot they are now. I would say only having to go up against a high seeded team such as Russia or PH in semis is a much more preferable outcome then having to face Germany, and USA back to back to make it to the same point. Like sure, yes, Canada did win those matches, but objectively they’ve had more difficult matches throughout the tournament and were more likely to lose.

On the long term, this is much ever so slightly more preferable for Canada if they're planning on placing higher in the last standings
After all, South Korea, Poland, and USA, and probably Australia were going to nearly be uncontested until the end and would've had massive team scores on the last hardest pools with how well rounded some of them are. Knocking big teams down on early stages is easier than trying to beat them on more difficult pools
This is why I've seen deseeding mentioned as a scummy tactic in tournaments before, and there has been cases where teams are disqualified suspected of deseeding
Also doesn't mean im accusing them of purposefully doing so. Im sure it was a mistake. But its clear how much this has impacted the tourney in general. Im still rooting for canada i only mentioned this because it is something to account for
But we'll see i guess, Next up is Canada vs Germany rematch, and if USA wins we will see whether or not deseeding has done anything for Canada when they were against them before. If canada wins both then I would be certain they would've been fine to begin with without deseeding despite the insane chaos it has created
Though i wonder, isn't Australia kind of deseeding too now that i think about it? Beating poland was also one of the cause how poland managed to be knocked out of the tourney so early despite being so stacked. Poland had to face off against USA which was a result of deseeding. We'll whatever I've typed for too long nowww Regardless this was a fun tourney to watch honestly
@@FlowyYQUCanada did NOT mean to deseed at all. It just so happened that the TOs decided to make the qualifiers occur on the same day as TwitchCon which was planned months before OWC. They had no choice but to play while attending or else they would be getting a much lower seed than 11th. Canada was especially hindered from this whereas two of their core players weren't at their setup nor were the PCs in good condition.
Australia didn't deseed either, they just played super well that week, and Poland's mental wasn't good either.

@@Qwerty-dr7gi if you're from poland the best owc was 2017, im not polish and its still my favorite. Wolf single handedly dethroned the usa streak on one of the coolest grand finals and 2 months later rafis got his #1 back after so many years. Still my favorite osu period
