- Join me for a walk around the centre of one of England's most beautiful villages, the spectacularly pretty, higgledy-piggledy West Yorkshire settlement of Heptonstall. Located high up on the banks of the Calder Valley above the hip town of Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall is more than just a pretty face, hosting a treasure trove of riveting historical sights.
As we walk around Heptonstall, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including Heptonstall Road, Longfield House, Town Gate, The Cross Inn, Heptonstall Cloth Hall, Heptonstall Museum, Heptonstall Grammar School, St. Thomas à Becket Church, Heptonstall Churchyard, St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Weavers Square, Smithwell Lane, Heptonstall Village Pump, The White Lion, Heptonstall Methodist Church, Heptonstall stocks, and a horse.

Good evening! And welcome to a narrated 'redux' of a walk in one of my very favourite places in England, the gorgeous medieval village of Heptonstall! A place that I'm always itching to return to, this village is full of fascinating treasures, from its spectacular medieval ruins to the winding, higgledy-piggledy lanes that make it up!
For some bonus info, we mentioned that The Cross Inn - formerly The Stocks Inn - has a history dating back to 1617. Thanks to a comment from a viewer (@TractorBoy50), I learned that the pub recently opened up its old fireplace back in 2014, the fireplace having been built over 250 years ago, and which has been long covered up. So, as well as the riveting old lanes of Heptonstall, do venture inside its historic buildings to uncover even more treasures :)
even better with narration
Such a beautiful village, and so love the fact they deliberately changed the tarmac roads back to cobbles. They certainly "make" the village. Quite amazed at the size of those Parish Churches, for such a small population. Really, really, beautiful. Thank you for such showing this truly historic little village. Cheers!
I love this. My relatives left Heptonstall in 1820 for South Africa. It is fascinating to see the streets they once walked.
Most enjoyable! I’m encouraged to visit now. Thanks for producing the video. D
Went there this weekend. Had lunch in the white lion, i highly recommend their sirloin steak.
The narration makes all the difference, thank you 👏
You’ve done it again, brilliant video.
As a proud Yorkshireman I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never been to Heptonstall despite living only 17 miles away.
The old church must have been spectacular in its prime.
Keep up the good work and also the walks with a commentary, they are really so much easier to follow than with subtitles.
I agree. The commentary lets you keep an eye on the scenery.
Brilliant walk! I stayed in an Air BnB right at the start of this video for a week or so a few years back. Great to see it again!
A lovely video. I should very much like to visit this beautiful and interesting village. Thank you for giving me such an informative introduction to it.
Thank you so much for this lovely walk.
wow, lovely and beautiful 🦋🦋🦋
What a beautiful video❤️
It does look much prettier on a sunny day than on a rainy day
Awesome live afternoon walk in the village. Very beautiful and historical the medieval buildings and houses are. Your history lessons are always great and your walks are always enjoyable. Hope to see more soon. How is your weekend? Mine is great. We have lots of snow in Canada. Have a great day greetings from Canada 😀
wonderful.
I'm your Fan.
I think that’s were the saying coining it in comes from if I’m not mistaken 👍
I very much enjoyed this walk. I've been to Hebden Bridge, but not to this village.
I didnt recognise the name of the village but I do know Sylvia Plath
