I put lowering blocks on the rear and cut my front springs. The ride is a little rough but it so much better looking and can handle curves without so much body roll. Great videos
Saw a guy that custom made a two stage spring with some random prices of spring of different gauges and he said it’s the best handling car he’s put together (he was driving a 1997 rx7) it also lowered it by a full 2.9 inches looked sick
I know this sounds crazy, but I am going to ask anyway. I have an 09 Ram 1500 with 22" wheels and 305/ 40 22's...I want to get the truck a little lower but I don't want to go with a 2"/4" drop because I still work out of the truck and haul stuff from time to time. My ideal lowering rate ( I think) would be a 1" / 2" or 3". I know it sound like a lot of work for that little of drop. I thought I would get your opinion on cutting the springs just for that amount and what you would do shock wise, stock shock or lowered shock? I'm not saying I am going to go through with it, just want some advice. Thanks.
If you disconnect the lower ball joint there is no need to take apart all the brake hardware. You will have to slightly fight the weight of the brake hardware, spindle and upper control arm. This is easier to do with two people.
You got lucky that the ball joints have been replaced before. They come stock riveted onto the control arms. Mine snapped and it was a pain to get them off
It feels like stock to be honest but obviously less travel and you have to be more careful on big bumps since it can bottom but the ride feels like stock.
I like, How about a Dodge 2016 four-wheel-drive 250 short bed coil springs all way around how about cutting and lower in coil springs I can’t find anything on that model please advise I’m old and short person. Thanks Wayne
If the dakotas have the same lower control arm as the 1500s you can get the lower control arms off of a b series van and itll lower it without cutting springs.
@@chadpearsall7398 ah see I dint know what will interchange between the dakotas and 1500s. I have a 1500 so all my research goes to that, and so far there isn't much information between the dakota and 1500 interchangeability.

Looking good! Now show us how to make a supercharger for the Dakota from scratch.
Thanks for showing me how to lower the suspension on a budget. I like the look of your truck now. Great video. 👍
Theres nothing wrong with cutting springs. Heating them is bad

I got lucky, my bump stops rotted off😄 dakota looking great, if you need another project I'll send you my dakota lol😎
Great video.Dumb question.Do you cut the top or the bottom of the spring?

Thanks man you just saved me a lot of money an at the same time helped my truck look hella nice
LOL I was waiting to hear the reason why "DON'T DO THIS" was in the tittle!! :P hehe
Justin Horton right I’m more convinced into doing it
Looks great man, but I keep distracted looking at your garage. I wish mine was half of yours. 👍

Wow bro you’re really pumpin out the content!
Where did you pick up the bump stops at
Replace those ball joints mane! 🤣🤘🏻

Looks much better
Thanks brother! 🤟
Will it bouce if cut like this or ride smoth
How did cutting the Springs work out for you? I'm thinking about doing it to mine.
Still rides great despite what most people say
De-attach ? Detach? Remove?
You got lucky that the ball joints have been replaced before. They come stock riveted onto the control arms. Mine snapped and it was a pain to get them off
Hi is lowering 2 inches is safe with out bouncing?
Doesn’t look too bad, how’s the ride ? I have djm 2” lower A arms on mine
What size tires are on the truck
Can you cut the rubber part on the bump stop instead of cutting them off completely?
Do you remember how tall the coil was originally b4 u cut it and what height is was after cutting? Thanks
I bought my truck with cut springs now it bounces to much should it be due to cut springs or something else
I'm gonna do my Ford f150 flair side
Wondering if cutting 1" off s10 coils would be ok? Heard s10 springs shouldnt really be cut
How did the drive feel? Was it rough?
It feels like stock to be honest but obviously less travel and you have to be more careful on big bumps since it can bottom but the ride feels like stock.
I'm going to do it to my 98 5 speed dakota

you talked me into it. gonna do this for my 1st gen dakota i race in lemons. does it matter if i cut from the top or bottom of the spring?
I agree does the direction you cut it from make any difference?
@@codyhenson9794 i cut from the bottom. worked out well
Thumbs up, Awesome!
Should have included test drive
Nice 👍
Need more rim ... bigger .. less tire .. it will fill the space and will look proper
What year is your dakota
1999
Thanks keep up the content I'm loving it I just got a 02 dakota for my first car

They already make tubular lower drop arms for dakotas. And no van arms eont fit

Easier to take bottom control arm loose
How do I do a 2" lift 2wd 01 dakota
Want to do this to a 98SLT
The man is wearing safety glasses and shoes 🙃 lol
Will this work for any car???
No not any car
How about the camber correction on the Front Tires ?. Tires are going to eat away on the insides.
You should put 20's on the Dakota I have 20's on mine and it makes the truck look better
Where can I find RT 20” replicas
