  • How to build a diy standing desk from one sheet of plywood.
    I always loved the exposed plywood look, and that is why you will see me gluing multiple pieces of plywood together, exposing the edge, to give a wider plywood edge area.
    Materials :
    1 sheet of plywood (50$)
    2 linear actuators (108$) Link : www.banggood.c... But checkout this version , it has a remote control and relays : s.click.aliexp...
    Glue
    Screws
    Varnish paint and Lacquer spray
    total cost around 158$

    This is what a DIY Standing Desk video should be. I've seen a lot of videos titled "Build your own standing desk" and the only thing they're building is the table top and just buying the frame for the standing desk in Amazon

    The way you apply glue gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "hand made". Love the playful nature of it.

    For this adjustable table, what was the budget? How long did it take you to finish everything? I am trying to make an adjustable table from my non adjustable table while also hopefully using the same type of materials.

    Table construction is the easiest part for me personally. But connecting actuators is another thing. What is the simplest PWM controller to use to make them work together? Will they work if connected to a PWM controller that only has 2 power terminals and 2 device terminals?

    man, the project is very good, but I was thinking: what if one of the engines stops? in this system there would be a drop of everything above with the unevenness. how to solve this problem?

    Amazing video! The absolute best I have found on these sit/stand desks. Quick question though, would using thinner pieces of wood for the legs be okay? I want to maximize the room under the desk for a more clean/modern look. Let me know what you think.

    • @EliasMakes
      @EliasMakes  4 роки тому +1

      hello , thank you
      Well you can do something even better for getting a more modern look, i wanted to do this initially but i was in a hurry so ended up not doing it : make the upper legs and bottom ones tempered, this will keep strength and give you a modern look. make sure you check part 2 video for more info rewarding actuators synchronisation...

      Elias Moussa Open-DIY thanks much for responding. I re-watched the video with subtitles again. Was very well described. I am planning to just use this as a work desk to have 3 computer monitors. The mounting system will clamp to one of the corner edges. Would you think the weight balance can be achieved ? If not what improvements one could make ?

    • @EliasMakes
      @EliasMakes  4 роки тому

      @@crtl9697 yes , i am currently using an ultra wide monitor , that is heavier than 2 screens, i am planing on doing a voice over follow up video with more details, but i was not able to find free time , i hope i can record it soon , explaining the physics behind it. plywood is one of the strongest wood sheets, it was used in aircrafts

  • @isaaclan8029

    Very nice work! One question; would it work if you place the actuators right inside the outside legs, so they will push the table top directly?
    Thank you

    • @EliasMakes
      @EliasMakes  4 роки тому +1

      thank you :)
      you need synchronized actuators , since you will be fixing them to the table top, and in case the actuators became asynchronous they will tear the wood. check the q&a video for more details on that

    Does the $150 include the Linear Actuators? I notice they're not linked or described anywhere, what's the stroke length you chose to go with?

    • @EliasMakes
      @EliasMakes  5 років тому +3

      helo yes, i didnt put links so people dont think i have an affiliate with any website. i bought them from a chinese website and paid around 90$ (after using the 1st order coupon...) they have 40 cm stroke and around 150 kg of load each

      @EliasMakes  4 роки тому

      Hi Adil, its up to you to know the speed, and the weight you want it to carry, and the stroke. since that can be different from one user to another . for example my height is arround 178 cm , for my height a 40 cm stroke is perfect. you also need to know jow many kg you want it to carry , so you get the newton meter value, check the video description i have a link for the used actuators.
