Oh no, be careful Beranda that kind of crazy looks like it’s contagious. 🤣🤣 Just kidding ! Nicole any helper willing to serenade your audience along with you is surely a keeper. 🥰
This has been a horrible year for deer. They are calling for a bad winter. It’s not because there isn’t thing for them to eat. We have had a ton of rain. There is an abundance.
Your passion and enthusiasm when you pick the flowers are contagious and shows how much you love what you do. I had a housemate who was a floral designer for a florist shop. She clearly did not enjoy what she does as she griped about it and is so cranky all the time while I swoon at the thought of being surrounded by all those flowers.
I think because Nicole comes from a background of wanting to grow plants, if your roommate was simply thrust into a job where she was working with sterile flowers shipped from across the world and dipped in pesticides this would probably curb my enthusiasm for it too! If you’re going to grow your own produce to sell I imagine you have the enthusiasm to get out of bed at 5am to do so! Nicole has inspired me to turn my hand at a bit of cut flower selling and I’ll be growing my own next year. She’s really shown the ups and downs of the trade but also shows how sometimes homegrown flowers just have a different quality to them then for example roses shipped from Kenya. Hope your roommate went on to do something she better enjoyed!!!
Gosh it just seems like you were picking daffodils. And now we're talking about frost. You have had an exciting, wild and wonderful season. I love to see good things happen to good people 🌼
I love how you don't try to just show the "perfect stuff" & you don't try to just show beautiful rows of flowers like some flower farmers. You aren't scared to show your weeds, etc. & I love your personality. You seem very laid back and like you would get along with anyone, like you've never met a stranger...
I found myself talking to the flowers like the style of you now. Like. “Wow you’re beautiful”. “Oh hello! You’re coming with me” I need to set up a camera so I’m not just talking to myself. 😂
I watched the flower guy, who lives deep in the mountains of SWVA, and he sprays his flowers with the fish fertilizer you use on your seedlings…he says the deer can’t stand the smell..🙅♀️. I’m gonna try it in the spring and see but his rows of flowers looked amazing!
My husband creates food plots with tasty treats that the deer love far away from my garden. So far (fingers crossed) this keeps them away from my garden. I see them daily chomping in the plot that is just for them.
I am in love with all of your lisianthus! They are all just stunning. And thank you for getting Electric Avenue stuck in my head for the day. I'm sure to enjoy that! LOL 🤪
Oh the deer were horrible here too! They got into my deer fenced area and ate all my glads and rudbeckia!! 🙄 I know it's horrible but it made me feel better about how my own farm looks right now. 😅
Deer Pressure refers only to HUNTING. What you are getting is "Animal [Deer] BROWSE PRESSURE". When they are cleaning out Gardens, it's "BROWSE Pressure". They are BROWSING/FORAGING to bulk up before winter. The Garden STILL looks good even after they've had their dinner. Think about a 6' electric fence to put around the perimeter. Once touch and they learned their lessons. At the 2:21 mark, I think they are zinneas [?] or strawflowers [?] are totally AMAZING looking! Well done on those. Love them.
I just found your channel! Your very inspiring to our farm dreams. We are second year here, had a challenging year but got some good production. I look forward to watching more videos 🥰
How absolutely bonkers about the dahlias!!! I planted 300 in felted pots, started in April, in the hoophouse...no blooms. Tubers thrown into the ground in July and not watered....blooms.
The zinnia and celosia same here in NE PA. Cool night has everyone late to the party. Have you ever grown Borage? It’s a - mazing early bloom cold hardy and the best cut flower!! 50 days to gigantic plentiful plants. And it’s edible! It was my big happy surprise to try. You have a similar climate I think you’d love it!!
~ 🤍If you don't want the deer to trample your stuff create a garden for them to go to yearly. You could collect day old produce or ask your people to donate produce for your deer garden. Keep it far away from your food/flower source. Salt licks and sugar cubes sparsley as well in that mix. Grouse for the ticks. This would be a lovely to feature on your show. Water source as well...moving water source. p.s. add butterflies in the spring
Maybe need to plant a row or two of deer food... Not your flowers! 🤔💕🍀🍻🌻 Add motion lights and such to your valuable areas. Hope you are having a great season!
Leaving leaves on usually lessens the life because it then has to hydrate both the flower and the leaves. I strip almost all leaves on most flowers! Once you cut the stem the dying process begins.
I've heard good things about a product called bone sauce as a dear repellant..I have no first hand knowledge , so far my fur babies have kept our deer population at bay It's brewed by a fellow u tuber u can find it at Perma pasture farm
Have you tried the statice cousin - Limmonium perezzii. It has large round leaves, is a strong perennial and blooms very profusely. It is indigenous to our area, the Garden Route on the South coast of South Africa. It only comes in purple unfortunately, but the colour is so intense and the panicles size so big, that its definitely worth it!
Johnnys seed has them, I have a shopping cart full of them but can’t seem to pull the trigger, I don’t have enough space to grow all the things I want to.
I can see more deer fence in the future. I know you have sunflowers but it seems you haven’t used them as much, but with all the glads I can see why, they are beautiful!
The statice browning is often linked to too much moisture and not enough heat. We have clay soil on our farm and it struggles, even though it is indigenous to our area. Best to grow in raised beds, or add sand if your soil is clay.
Good morning I need to know if you're going to start seeds earlier and if you're going to do more carnations I would love to see more carnations and tulips
You and your flowers never stop amazing me 🌸🌿🌾💫. You grow the strongest, healthiest flowers without netting/staking! Your wind must work for you 💪💪💪Your season is ahead of mine so you are my shining example of what I need to do next and mistakes to avoid 🤭😖😮 i am grateful for the details you give for each plant. Now I know why my Sweet Annie wilts! Woody is the answer! Is that true for basil, snow on the mountain other good filler/foliage?
Hi Nicole! I wondered if you can remember what variety of Zinnia the red one is, that you called 'fantastico'. It was indeed fantastico and I would love to get some seeds for next year. Wasn't enamored with Zinnias until I saw them trap all the Japanese beetles for me this year and the hummingbirds and Monarchs have been going crazy for them.
Someone on another video said they put up bird feeders in their garden and the birds ate all the Japanese beetles. It sounds worth trying, but I don’t have Japanese beetles.
I am trying to place orders for flower seeds and I am having a hard time cutting back. Next year will be my first time ever planting flowers. Any suggestions on how much to buy? I would love to start selling but maybe just do it for a hobby next year.
Appreciate seeing your flower harvest, beautiful 😊 I’m in south Texas, is the seed farm you mentioned Arnosky Seed Farm in Blanco, TX? If so I’m about 60ish miles from them. I love supporting local growers, nurseries and farms in my state🥰
Do you plant the Celosia and statice when you plant your other flowers like the zinnias, or do you start those a little bit later to have them for fall?
Great harvest, Nicole. Sorry the deer ate your amaranth. Maybe you need to plant a field of something they love so they leave your flowers alone. Or put an 8’ fence around your entire property.
I love Arnosky Farms. I got my Lisianthus there. They were gorgeous

Have your hubs urinate all around the perimeter of your garden. Also on the woods line and their trail leading to your property.
So glad to see all the monarchs there. Finally saw some last week but miss the great numbers.thanks for planting milk weed.hugs

The aphids were so bad on my zinnias this year I could not even pick them!! I ordered ladybugs but the aphis came back!!
Thanks beautiful to see in the fields. The deer need to be stopped somehow?
Please remind me how to condition glads and daffodils in order to store them in the cooler? And do you put them in the cooler in water or dry?
Maybe need to plant a row or two of deer food...

Annie reminds me of a green tree bush that I had about 40 yrs ago. Does t(is turn red towards fall?
My apricot colored statice browned if the were rained on. My statice is all done now pretty much

Such a bummer!
For the longevity of the cut flower, please leave a couple of leaves on the stem so it can try to photosynthesize. Pretty zinnias!
