If I learned nothing but one thing in my time in the Marines, it was that surf fishing is a whole different beast that's so satisfying to do.
Thank you for your service ‼️ ever been to Camp Pendleton?
🫡
@@addicted2fishing119 Nope, the only time I was in Cali was at the great sandy dunes of 29 Palms. I was stationed at Camp Lejeune, which has a lot of good fishing around it.
@@kennywolfjr.6413 ooo 29 palms is crazy desert 🥵‼️🤣🍻 definitely better fishing in NC … my grandfather is a retired Sergeant Major and his son my dad was born there 🍻… as x military you are able to get the camp grounds on base to visit for crazy cheap vs abnb or hotel and the fishing is pretty good but definitely different 🍻
@@kennywolfjr.6413 Semper Fi brother. When were you in 29 Palms? I spent a year there in '71.
palms?
❤ I live in Killeen Texas. I grew up 7 miles from Freeport. I grew up on a saltwater bayou in a house on stilts. I would go fishing about 100 yards from my house. Now my favorite fishing spot is Aransas Pass.! my wife and I like to take our RV and camp there and go fishing! Thank you for sharing all of your videos! I’ll learn a lot from you!
Great catch Erin! You guys convinced me to start fishing again. Im heading iff to Big 5 today. You remind how fun life can be. Thank you!
I'm from San Antonio, TX and love your rigs/ salted baits. Went out to the coast this weekend and slayed using your products.
Nice catch guys.. thanks for sharing such an amazing adventure on the Texas Coast, tight lines my friends 🤙
Another successful fishing trip with Hey Skipper Team !!
Very nice Reds.
Really excellent video with family fun... entertaining and educational as always!
I love watching you fish! I'm going this weekend!
Yall are fishing where I take my family every year for vacation. The jetty is a good place to fish and the mouth of the river. Keep driving down the beach and yall will hit the river and fish there. I have caught sharks and big bull reds there to feed my family for a week.
a very extraordinary angler, with good bait and a sizable fish pull is very good to see, the spirit is always and success🙏
Love to see y'all having a great time!
We've all had those days when the only thing that bites is a catfish. It happens to every fisherman who fishes beaches, bridges, etc. All we can do is go with the flow.
Man yalls videos get better and better. Much love bro keep up the content!
That’s so great to hear! Thank you!
Great video!!! Thank you for sharing your expertise!!! 🎣🌴🍕
Im from Center Tx. We drive a couple hours to Crystal Beach and surf fish. Love the channel man. I have learned so much! Thank you.
You are the best fisher man in my life i used to learn surf fishing by you and i caught many fish thanks for your help🥰🤗
heck yeah dude, what a day. ill be in Port Aransas surf fishing for the first time next week.. i already bought all my necessities thanks to your tips. I hope you do a meet up next time you're here!!!
I'm actually from north texas and I've been to Corpus, galveston, and bolivar peninsula. Corpus I think has better fishing because it's clearer mainly because you literally don't have to go that far for DEEP water. Therefore there's not much shallow water for the sand to kick up. Galveston most of the time I find you'll get catfish unless you toss in holes or further out. However, a big factor is they mainly go for the shrimp. You use shrimp in the surf most likely a cat but if you go in the water till chest deep then cast as far as you can you have a higher chance for reds on that shrimp. That's how I catch the monster ones but from jumbo size shrimp like mullet the bait has to be big
Careful handling those hardheads. I have caught 100s and handled them by hand until once I got jabbed with its fins. This was some of the most pain I have ever endured. The only way I could stop it is putting my hand in extremely hot water.
When I catch on one I will only pick them up with very long pliers.

Happened to my dad, never ever seen him cry lol
I swear, redfish are one of the hardest fighting fish. It’s like a glorious croaker! They are epic!
awesome video! those takes were epic as plus the reel screaming like hell. epic work on both of you guys on landing those good redfish after getting plagued by the catfish
Another big strong fish wow. That was awsome! Fish on
This video was amazing. Thanks y'all
Great job on lending the tank Brandon and good job Erin for landing that nice size redfish 😄💪
I’m living in Central Texas about halfway from Austin and Houston. I’m mostly an inshore saltwater fisherman and I fish from Galveston to Port Aransas and sometimes even farther south.
Southeast texas love fishing in Port Arthur at Humphreys state park! You can fish from the peer and from side walk area with picnic tables with covering. Another plus is they have places for tents or RV parking with plumbing and water.
Love your channel . From corpus christ TX. Great fishing on the jetties on padre island to rockport, port aransas., and lots more.
And Erin landed a beautiful Red 👏🏻🙋🏻♀️ You go girl 👍🏻🎣
Great job! KEEP FISHING 🍀
Thank you for making this video I’m fixing to go on a week long fishing coastal trip in Gulf of Mexico Texas area this is very helpful
Did you receive a prize from this guy?
If you find yourself near SpaceX in Brownsville, message me
Best fishing spot where you are is Sargent Beach. Matagorda Beach is also great. Both of these areas are great for Red Fish, Trout, Sharks, and Giant Stingrays. Unfortunately, they also have a lot of Hardheads. Matagorda has tons of shells on the beach. Freeport Beach doesn't have that much shell. I have caught many fish in this part of Texas. When the mullet are in the surf, the trout get big, I have caught near 30 inch trout in the surf on live finger mullet.
Where did you catch that trout?? I am coming back in the fall
@@HeySkipper Sargent Beach, when the tide is falling off of the clay. There is exposed clay when the tide is down. Live finger mullet. BIG FREAKING TROUT!!
@@HeySkipper Im from Pasadena Texas that on 45 South of Houston go to Seaworld park in Galveston or the Texas City Dike's ✌🏾
I love your videos. I've learned so much from you and your videos. I'll be going down to Freeport in July and was curious where you got the baby squids.
Nice catch.
Really learning a lot from you.
Thank you ❤❤
I live in West Texas in middle of a huge oil field, I spend about 3 months a year fishing Padre Island and Mustang Island. Cant beat the 25-35 mile on Padre Island
I live in Dallas tx love y'all's videos. I go to Galveston and Jamaica beach 1x a year to saltwater fish and I legit catch those hard head Catfishes all day. glad y'all got some time here in TX
Hey You Two, Nice video. Congrats on the fish. I'm glad Erin got to get one on her own. She is always a joy to watch her reel one in. You should try to use some of those small catfish as cut bait. Take some clippers and clip off the spines that sticks you (for bigger catfish you don't even have to do that) and cut up like you do any other cut bait. You're catching enough of them you might as well use them for bait. You'll always have a supply of bait. Good luck. Thanks...
It’s always a joy to get erin on nice fish. She is such a fun fishing partner!
I was thinking the same thing about the cut bait, some fish species won't cannibalise. I know I do it when I'm catching a heap of pest fish, varied results
I'm from Dallas, but I enjoy driving down to fish in Corpus. One of my favorite spots is Packery Channel. I'll be there tomorrow!!!
From Surfside. Other great fishing places along the coast headed south are Matagorda Bay, Port Aransas, the Packers Channel jetty in Corpus, Baffin Bay in Riviera, Thomae county park in Arroyo City, Beach Access 6 South Padre Island, SPI Jetties, Brazos Santiago pass, Boca Chica Beach and the Rio Grande River, the jetties, South Bay. I probably missed a few spots along the way but you can’t go wrong on these spots. Love your guys channel.
Teamwork makes a dream work! Fun video! 🎣 🐟 🐟
I've been waiting on this video. I currently live in Houston and have enjoyed watching ur videos in other parts but the gulf coast is a different breed.
San Antonio Tx, I want to try surf fishing I’ve been fishing mostly on Lakes, Braunig Lake and Calaveras Lake.
Come on down Jerry.. to South Padre Island go about 10 miles north of county beach access 6 if you can it’s a good area to fish
Great video!
I can't wait for yall to come back and check out the port aransas jetties!
I can’t wait!
Palacios Tx is a good place to fish pier fishing is really good there.
Lmao that fight at 13:18 is too funny
Sorry for all of the hardheads! So glad to see you guys catch all of those red fish and I hope that one was good to eat!!!😁😁😁😁 GREAT JOB!!!!
I think i saw a hook in the 1st red drum that y’all didn’t removed while y’all were releasing the fish
sometimes, if the hook is set too deep, ripping it out can damage the fish more than just leaving it in.
Very nice Reds, just awesome
You love us in Texas that mullet head nice I cut them in half and sometimes fresh and alive the tale that blood making go crazy....Port Arthur Pleasure island, Humphrey Park spots everywhere Sabine Pass Wild life with salt lakes with Red and Black drums also Gars Good day or night..Nice fishing yow fell in love with Texas everything big
Another fun time. One day you all should try the Pacific North West fishing.
I enjoyed watching you fighting with that big Red 😈man you nailed it great job, your rigs are amazing. Hopefully am gonna get some of them soon from your site, keep up the good work, Brandon you may forgot the hook on that Red's mouth
So clear and good tools
I’m from California San Diego watching lots of your videos I’m learning bc I want to start surf fishing 🎣
The slap heard around the world…Redfish tail and Erin’s face. Lol
Si estan en Texas tienes que ir a las escolleras de Boca Chica. Pesca + SpaceX = Fun! Fun! Fun!
That's a great catch - 41 incher !! Going down there this Saturday .. hopefully the sea will be kind to us. Btw, did you have problems with getting the hook out of the redfish mouth at 16:00 ? Why left it in there ?
Honestly no excuses why they left the hook in the red fish. He has enough equipment to take the hook off.. made me upset.
So am I 😡
Y’all need to stop being babies
Who cares if the hook was in the mouth. Wow bunch of lil baby's. Go watch the News if you want to 😭...
Some might not care, but as a recreational fisherman, I care whether or not I'm doing the right things so that it can pass down the right way to the next generation - that meant observing size and bag limits, leaving little trace behind as much as possible, and including proper catch and release of fishes. You can take the "who cares" and tough guy attitude toward conservation but in the end that is a reflection on you.
Nice catch 👌
Bro, not sure when y’all were filming. But being from Houston, all I could think was how bad I would be sweating in that jacket 😂
Haha… Robert that’s so true I’m from the Valley that’s the last thing I would be wearing, I think It was during the colder months they came down
I enjoy watching these videos. You’re in my hometown! Freeport, Texas!
Freeport is one of my favorite places. Love the jettys
One thing that I’ve found to work tremendously is sliding sinker clips. Idk what it is, I just catch more fish using them
Good tip!
@@HeySkipper give us a sliding sinker rig set up please
Fish finder rigs is what they're called in the Chesapeake region. Great for fishing with bait.
Hi skipper i wanted to thank you for all the help that you’re giving here on youtube for free and helping beginners to be proffesional but i wanted to ask if you could make a video about the specs that your first fishing set need to have when you first start fishing like the rod size, reel size, lines size and etc. It would really help beginners and anyway thanks for your kindness!
I second to this
Great fishing tho, skipper 😉
Always with the amazing catch
You need a steel litter and an ocean kyak to drop the bait. Rule one.
These guys are using small reels.
Nice catch
Congrats! Great place to fish caught 43" red there last weekend.
been fishing long time 39 is my best red. 34 1/2 inch speckle in the surf
Love your videos !!! Just a FYI you do the measurements to the upper tip of the tail on the red fish !
I buy your rigs and bait love them man !
Nice job I live here on the South Texas coast myself. I'd rather eat Red fish than any other. They have such a dense meat. Not to fishy. We like to refer to it as the steak of the sea. Love it.
I'm from League City, Texas just 30 minutes from Galveston. I just moved here a week ago and am looking to start fishing off the coast.
That sounds like a great place to live for good fishing!
Loving your surf fishing videos. Very informative. Wanting to try your salted clam strips. Have you caught pompano on the salt bites you make?
Good tols you have. So good
Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Quick question...I noticed that you've moved on from the traditional plastic sinker sliders. It looks like you are using a snap swivel of some sort. What exactly are you using and why did you stop using traditional sinker sliders? Does the braid cut through them? Thanks again!!!
I'm from the hill country. My favorite place to fish is padre Island area. Last year during sharkathon I caught 2 pompano around 3 pounds and two Atlantic sharp nose sharks. Best bait for big red fish and sharks is lady fish a.k.a. poor man's tarpon
From Corpus Chisti, enjoy watching your videos.
Awesome! When is a good time to visit Corpus Christi
amazing beach with nice fishing
Do you have a tagging system ,just wondering cause i never saw you tagging fish you've released.
Here in South Africa we've got a great tag and release program wich provide very usefull info
I’m from south Texas in Port Lavaca, we catch on average 6-7 bulls / drums per night. As well as 20 catfish (gaftops&& hardheads) & baby sharks up to 4'. One guy swore he caught a 7'4" we have everything here lol
From Kingsville, Tx and Fish the Loyola Beach area. Two piers Loyola pier and Rivera pier, Site 55 and Drum point. Would love to see you come out and try at this location to see what you think. Also its a blessing to have found your channel to learn new techniques. Keep up the good work.
Nice & good job
Hey , Hey , Hey , love your channel and family structure ‼️ God Bless
Thank you!
We say that that fish gave you the fin!! Nice catches!
Hey skipper, I’m from LaPorte Texas and it’s about 30 minutes from Galveston. I’m going to Galveston to fish the surf in the morning and was just wondering where would be a good spot to start out the day.
When you gonna get a boat? It's nice that you show folks how you do it from the beach and the lessons you've learned.
Great video
Last two days we fished 7:30cst to midnight off the seawall at Port-A (Aransas) at Roberts Park next to ferry.
Caught 22 nice Gaff-topsail catfish and the cleaning station is just behind you. That is some good eating. Last night I think we brought home over a dozen, but yet the clean them.
I used cut bait I got from a trash can at cleaning station last night after a guide cleaned several flounder. I just cut rest in chunks. Cut bait is always good. We also sometime use mullet using cast net at boat dock behind or just dead shrimp to start.
I had 30# braid snapped off a few times fishing with blue crab the last two night after hooking up. I am thinking maybe big black drum?
From Dallas but bought a house in Robstown close to Corpus Christi just to fish.
Back last night and early Saturday morning caught a 38 inch black drum off half a blue crab. Had to release him. I saw a 40 inch one caught too!
Awesome 🎣🎣🎣
Hi Skipper Erin another beautiful day for
Fishing nice view stay safe out there bro regard
Thank you!
a question what type of cane is the first one you had could you give a uniform name and what action is what measure
Port Oconner and Rockport are great places to fish in Texas also Port Aransas
Love the t shirt. Haven't checked out other apparel. Love the color to.
I loved his reaction after releasing the red.
That was a brute fish you caught.. I’m from costal bend Corpus Christi keep up the awesome job
Good 👍 stuff skipper like 👍 👌 the update
They also have a wooden peer and the steps in the other direction and there’s a north and south levee.
Best bait for here is fresh cut mullet, half a blue crab, and of course shrimp!!! Good stuff!!!
Yup!!
My favorite place to fish is San Luis pass. I highly recommend it.
Hey Skipper, I'm dying to know what kind of roof rack system you have on your truck. And what is the accessories used to mount your fishing poles
Buy ski racks from rhino rack or thule
have you experienced rust issues with your vehicles from driving on the beach and the salt spray?
Fishing in my spot! lol jk that’s my go to spot on the beach!! Once you see the sea shells you know you’re getting to the good spot!
Palacios Texas has some really good fishing
What beach was this? I have been fishing Texas City Dike for a few months and am looking to try out Galveston soon.
