Man, ever since GC performace blew up and he became a GABILLIONAIRE he's changed. Sold out even. The production and video editing is just TOO high-end man. It's just not the same...bring back the old GCN with the lower budget video edits! haha but seriously, thanks for this video! This may come in handy if I ever want to lower my Syncros Creston iC SL handlebar
I've got a 2021 its a hell of a bike--super solid on descents --race handling without being twitchy--not the lightest but also not $12000 . you can see the price tag on his bench $6800 but getting one is like winning the lottery. Compared to my s works this is better race bike and great value..
Hey ninja! How is this different from the common setup, except the top cap cover which can be pulled off fairly easily at the beginning? Remove the top cap and stem > adjust spacer amount above and below the stem for the new setup, making sure the top cap touches a spacer instead of a compressor > torque the bolts back.
it is just to clarify it, and to remove the front covers for the hydralic hoses. to make it easier for the consumers at home who might think they can not do this because it looks all shoved inside
Where did you get thos extra spacers, from scott directly? Where can those be found online? seams that regular ones don't work, or am i missing something?
Hi GC performance your video is really great, i hope you could post also a video on how to change the stem of the rc30 mechanical,i want to change mine diy. Thank you very much.
Hey GC, great demonstration. Without pulling that back apart I'm curious if you feel like Scott intentionally leaves enough hydraulic cabling to allow the bike to travel in a bike bag. I would assume you would remove all spacers to be able to lay the handlebars on the top tube (at least thats what I have to do) Thanks!
i have the same bike 2021 .Removing the spacers would give you almost no extra room. What you see when he drops bar is all youre going to get.No way youre going to lay bar on top tube..
@@johnkasza2315 Thanks John. Makes me wonder if manufacturers consider that these bikes need to make it onto airplanes on occasion. Or maybe they just use bigger bike bags than I do!
Its all a compromise. Go mechanical and rim brakes for easiest. Full integrated has its unique properties, but look how clean and uncluttered that cockpit is.Its a hell of a bike for 6800.i paid 5200 last year!! super climbing bike now new 12 speed full carbon wheels,,descends like a moto..
yea they leave it for you to have some room to work, which is how every bike should be built..... but you can get away with tucking it to the side if you remove all the spacers, also check the evoc pro bag they make it so you can leave your handlebar on I knwo it is expensive but if you travel alot it is a great alternative
I am doing my research on Scott. They have some of the best integration in the game. Their Synchros brand is on point too. They are basically Specialized minus the Win Tunnel and huge Marketing. Cannondale have the same system but their integration is not like Scott.
Awesome video! Do you know the diameter of the round spacers on the top? Want to do the same with a Syncros IC SL handlebar but I don't have the extra set of spacers, so I need to buy some. Thanks!!
Thanks for the helpful video! Only one I could find for this platform! Are there any other compatible bar and stem combos with the bike? Or is it exclusively for the syncros brand
you are welcome, I would look into there one peice bar and stem combo they offer, there might be some other options out there but the spacers are specific fit for the stem on this bike so I would stay with the brand
Can you please make a video on how to remove a DUB crankset? Just tried to put on an oval chainring on a near brand new bike and am finding it impossible to undo the bolt even with a breaker bar.
Hey GC, why is the compression plug not all the way in? I think in order to support the whole tube and get the clamping force all the way to the fork, the plug should be all the way in? Am I right?
This is the way Scott manufactures it. It is a thick piece of alloy. When you lower the spacer you move that as well. I think it is designed to help with people who maybe cut steerer too short. Lol
Any idea on how to lower the handlebar even more? I have not found any Scott stems that har negative degree's so stuck with a 56 size addict that I want even lower than a slammed stem can achieve :(
you can slam it, you might have to force it down more, you are basically fighting the cables on there, but if you really want to do it right take it to a shop have them shorten the cables and slam it and cut the fork
@@GCPerformance18 Okay, my problem is that the stem is slammed and I want it even lower. On older bikes I would just buy a negative stem, seems like all Scott-stems are the same here, no other choice?
I just ordered the integrated carbon bar/stem that comes on the higher end addict. would I be able to swap them myself or should I just take it to a shop? are there any special tool needed? My bike has Force AXS so it would just be the hydro lines that I would have to deal with.
2018/19 - undo bolts, top cap, swap over. 2021/22 - undo bolts, top cap, undo spacers, add shims, add spacers, remove cap, remove cover..etc Saved a few watts at 45kph.... I CANT GET TO 45kph!!!
it depends on how much slack there is in there but sometimes you can get away with shoving excess hose inside the bar and stem..... just apply a little bit of force
do you happen to know the length of the extender plugs that scott is using? Want to try a lower stem position but don't want to mount the stem lower than the extender plug
Hi I recently bought Scott foil 30 from 2022 as new. Could you tell me is it normal when you adjusting the sestpost that it makes clicking noises? I am not talking while riding the bike but while you are torquing it up to 5nm
I tried removing all the spacers (slamming the stem) but i could not fit the stem back on as it seamed there was not enough space inside the frame and fork for the extra 3cm or so with cables... Is there a hack for this or do i have to cut the cables and refit them?
Hey GC, I removed one spacer and it was pretty straightforward like your video. I just went to remove a second spacer, and now the headset top cap will not screw in. The bolt isn’t long enough. Do I need to get a longer bolt or have the stem cut?
@@GCPerformance18 you are right. My shop didn’t give me spacers, so I ordered Giant overdrive spacers. They are too thick so they don’t sit flush against the top of the stem. So it’s sitting too high. Hard to explain but very annoying!
I’m enjoying the bike so far ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
Great video as always. I recently bought a standard Addict 30 and it has a similar stem but it's 110mm on a 54cm which feels too long. Shorter stems are not available atm and I feel my options are really limited. Any suggestions or am I stuck with this proprietary stem set up? Many thanks
