Having Native Lee Countians tell their own stories of the areas they grew up in would make for good documentary fodder as well. This is well put together and it's about time that someone shines a light on Lee County.
I wished I new more about this county , my Grandmother was born in this Lee County Va . Her mother was Vicy Denham and father was Phillip Denham . Just started looking into where my grandmother came from .
Thank you very much for this episode. My paternal grandmother was born in Texas in 1898, but her parents and her two older siblings were both born in Lee County. I have been through the county once, but it was many years ago, before I took up genealogy as a hobby. So you have afforded me a wonderful glimpse of a part of my past! I hope i get to visit some day; so much of your documentary touches on things which absolutely fit right into my family, especially music. One of my own musical interests is Appalachian/Celtic music, so this piece is doubly nice to see. Best regards from Patricia Bowers - whose great grandparents were Solomon Peter Combs and his wife, Lydia Francies Wilder
So cool. My maternal grandmother was born in Grayson, Texas but both parents and older siblings born in Lee County. Remarkably similar story. I was told they survived in Texas as share croppers.
My ancestor, Eveline Estep 1867-1922, was born in Lee County. She was the daughter of Burrell H. Estep 1840-1933 and Surrilda J. Busic 1852-1919. She was married to Peter Rowland 1859-1923. Eveline's parents were from Brushy Mountain, North Carolina.

Very nice ❤️ 👌 👍 Thank you ❤️
I have several ancestors that lived in Lee County. Enough that I had to look it up. It’s beautiful. A few I believe are buried there.

9 state capitals are located in a shorter distance than Richmond which is not even in the eastern end! 😮
